Hold on. I got a bit confused as I'm not in my normal timezone. I got the sales emails at 8:02 which is 2:02 UK time, 21:02 on the 30th EST and 18:02 on the 30th Pacific. If VB is a US company, then surely those are both June sales? Unless they go on Universal Time or something.... in which case two sales in one hour and two minutes is pretty unlikely.

So I join VideoBlocks in Feb. In Feb I get $94.32, March I get $94.32, April get $94.32, May it's $94.32 and June I get $0.00. Then just a couple of hours into July I get two sales in a row to make $94.32 for July.
When my average of two sales a month total, both come in the first 0.25% of the month, my suspicious mind makes me wonder if those sales were actually from June, and they were delayed to July for some kind of cash flow reason. I mean, they've now got an extra 30 days to pay out that money.
I could be wrong. It could just be a coincidence. Maybe I'll end up getting four sales in July rather than the usual two. Maybe I'll get another two sales at 3am on the first of August. I can go with coincidence this time, but if that happens next month then it would raise an eye brow or two.

I concur. Was the 9th in May, the 10th in June.... and if it's the 11th in July then that'll do me just fine. That's when I get to Vietnam. I'm not going to die if I get it on the 15th, but sooner rather than later always works for me.

I got the email, but there was nothing on it about ID. Probably as I've submitted my passport before. I just filled out my Twitter address and linked to my website, so hopefully I'm all good.
One of the thing mentioned in the email about the possibility of new licenses, was some kind of insurance/indemnity/cover (I can't remember the exact wording), and I'm assuming for that to work, they need to make sure people are who they say they are. That's my guess anyway. So I can understand it, but would have thought a passport was more conclusive than a Twitter account.

Absolutely. My point was that it's not really possible for somebody to make a judgement on a stranger's level of business acumen, purely based on their per sale revenue. Or profit. There are plenty of companies, and probably individuals, who may have very low cost sales, but very high volume. It doesn't necessarily mean they need to pray for better business sense!

Would he advise the CEO of Pepsi to come in and pray for better business sense, due to making less than 25 cents net profit per can?

It's good to know, and thanks for explaining, but it would be nice to have a page showing all sales in a month... date, sale price, commission rate, earnings... then you can click through to a file for average sales per month, per year, average earnings per year, per month etc.

I'd made more up to the end of May than I did in all of 2015. Only been properly concentrating on stock for under two years though, and the monthly increases are starting to stabilise somewhat.

It was reported as PP, yes, thats why I thought they were PP sales, although it was weird that it was reported after 10 days since my last PP sales for May were reported. iStock is a real mess. One has to be genious to understand their reporting system, jesus.
Anyway, thanks.
You're not wrong! I just look at the overall balance. After six months I've still not figured out how to find out exactly what sold and when. Or for how much.

I popped out for the the day, came back, and my balance was about $120 more than it was this morning! Not sure why, as the balance always seems to update before the sales count and the stats, so I'm hoping it's not some kind of mistake. That's about what I normally make in a month, so pretty happy with that!

dbvirago, new or not, ss is very clear on when you get paid, before the 15th, any moaning before the 15th is just that
Who's moaning?

The flag itself is probably is free to use and free from copyright, but a lot of people add certain effects to them (grunge, vintage, torn, stylised etc) and I'm guessing that new derivative work would be copyrighted.

I get an average of about $150 a month from Pond5. Not much, but it'll do. I'm nearly at $140 already and we're not even half way through the month. Sales probably are down on average, but it's not all doom and gloom!

Got it just after noon, LA time. Happy days! The In N Out burgers are on me!
In Copenhagen now. It's not any cheaper, but at least there's not a slot machine in sight!
We were all on the edge of our seats waiting for the answer to the question, when exactly does Shutterstock pay out? And the answer is when you're in LA time. Now I can go back to watching paint dry.
I think they pay out in some other time zones, but maybe a little bit later. Or earlier.

Thing is its still 5 days to the promised pay out date to plan on the basis that will arrive earlier than promised is not good practice imho.
I never plan on getting paid before the 15th. However, I also never plan on getting really drunk and losing more money than expected in Vegas... but these things happen. As a result, I was looking for solutions, possibilities and eventualities that might result in me getting hold of some money before the 15th. And although they say the 15th, it's usually before the 15th, so it's not like it's a pigs might fly/hell freezing over kind of situation. If I'd divided my money and put twelve equal bets every month, on SS paying out before the 15th over the coming year, then I think I'd be onto a winner!

According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, 'making new images for your port' is pretty low priority, and definitely nearer the top of the pyramid; if anywhere. It must have been in the director's cut of the first episode of Lost, when Jack had everybody searching the debris for camera equipment, so they could work on their portfolios.
Usually, I'd completely agree.... delays in reviews, late notification emails, later than normal payment when you don't really need them, sales trends, keyword issues... work on your port and try not to worry about it. But when you're thousands of miles from home, don't have the equipment with you to make new stuff, are running dangerously low on cash and you're envisioning walking ten miles to the airport with 40 pounds in two bags.... then anything other than looking for a solution to the problem would be wasted energy.
But anyway.... I got a long overdue freelancing payment late yesterday, so it's all good. Not much, but it will keep me going until next week when I get a whole bunch of stock payments.

Here are the answers, provided by other contributors, not me:
"Its two days late can't you find something a little more significant to stress about?"
"Looks like its the end of the world....they don't pay out till the 15th I believe......."
"i guess thats why it takes ages to get a reply, because of impatient people emailing over trivial stuff"
"Fair enough I do respect your concerns but I think I would wait until about the 8th.......I just try not to get stressed about the generally poor standards across the board on reporting etc. As I've said before on here SS do fantastically well compared with most sites by being merely competent."
"And when someone needs real help from support, it has to wait weeks for answers because their e-mail is flooded with histerical people, when payment is 2 days late."
"Oh my god a disaster....and tell me what difference does it make?"
And so on. From this thread, when it happened last month: http://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/still-haven't-subtracted-april-total/

I'm not complaining. I'll get it when I get it, and I accept that. I always do. Just trying to figure out if I'll be sleeping on the streets and turning tricks for a half eaten burger.

13750% increase from May 2012 to May 2016. Although I only started selling stock in April 2012, and I think I only had two or three clips back then.... so it doesn't take too much to get a big percentage increase on hardly anything!

Is there a specific day of the month that Shutterstock pay out? I'm in Vegas for the next four days and things aren't going that well! I know 90% of places pay out on the 15th, later for iStock and earlier for Shutterstock. I got paid on the 9th last month but as I've only had a couple of payouts from them so far, I wasn't sure if that was an exception or the norm. Thanks!

And there you have it. The reason iStock and others get away with giving out terrible percentages to contributors, and make millions while you make thousands. When they really do lower your % to 1% and you're working a new day labor job to pay your bills and you're wondering what happened, just refer back to this narrow minded, short-sighted "I don't give a crap about anything else but my current bottom line, no matter what mathematics and logic dictate" position you guys have now. Unbelievable.
Well I'm basing my level of satisfaction on how things are currently, not how things may or may not be at some point in the future. Sure, If they do lower my % to 1% and I'm working a new day labor job to pay my bills then I'll base my level of satisfaction on that... and that level will probably be pretty low. Obviously hope for the best but plan for the worst, but there's no indication that I'm going to be sleeping on a park bench any time soon. Although, if you have documented evidence that any of the major stock sites will be reducing their percentages any time soon (without a likely boost in sales to cover the loss), then let me know and I'll start preparing some kind of protest campaign.

Although it should be $3.96 at 36%, rather than $3.24. Maybe something to do with that missing sale you mentioned. If it as a $2 sale then that would account for the missing $0.72
But yeah, sort your tax out and it'll be a bit better. Give it some time as well, there are extended licenses out there to be had!
