Reached 5 months now.
I have re-submitted these stuck images after 4 months of waiting and the resubmitted images also havenj't been reviewed after a month, so that's not solving the problem. Don't think these will ever be reviewed. And there isn't even anything tricky about these images that are stuck. One of them for example is a nature shot, so there is not content that could be copyrighted or any other problem that could explain why it's - or any of the mages from thet series - not getting reviewed.
I had a couple of images in the queue on Adobe for something like 10 weeks only to be rejected for "quality issues". Needless to say, the same images were accepted by Shutterstock. I just had 45 images accepted by Shutterstock in less than 48 hours. I like Adobe as they pay quite well. But Shutterstock is much easier to work with. I've stopped uploading to Adobe because it just isn't worth the hassle.

June on SS has been okay for me at least so far. Decent level of downloads and RPD for the month to date is at $0.50. AS is about average with RPD at $0.84. But in actual dollars, I'm making three times as much on SS albeit with a significantly larger portfolio.

It seemed for a while that the review times were shrinking, but now it seems they have gotten longer again. I have images that were submitted 30 days ago and are still in queue.
I'm on 25 days. The same image took two days at SS.

I've had a pretty good month on SS. Second best ever for number of downloads but no big sales so RPD is only $0.32. However still quite a lot more revenue than AS.

Given that Apple only have 16% of the US personal computer market (2023, Q4), one wonders who the sheep are.
And just over 18% of the world uses iPhones, but reading the web and the news, you would think, it's the biggest, best invention of all time. Every new release, the loyal sheep, line up to buy an upgrade. Until recently we didn't have the right to repair our own phones. What Apple does, is makes the old products obsolete by just saying, they are, and then doesn't support them anymore.
I have an iPhone, I think it's 100 times better than any Android phone I ever owned. Reliable, works, doesn't lock up. Good design and interface. If someone asked me what phone system is best, I'd say iPhone. That's as a phone and for Apps.
But I'm not going to answer every question that anyone asks about technology with "Anything Apple of course".
I've worked on an iMac, (in some Windows simulator mode) they are excellent, fast, bright, pretty much, all around wonderful. MAC laptop displays for many years, were far ahead of anything else. But modern PCs, the processors, the graphics cards, and everything else, is equal, and sometimes better.
"The satisfaction of belonging to a cohesive group leads people to suppress their inner doubts. Loud voices overpower quieter ones, dissent is quashed, and the outcome is flawed..." That describes the devoted Apple cult members. They can only praise anything that Apple produces.
All of my professional life I worked with PCs starting with the IBM XT around 1983 (before that I worked with IBM mainframes). Around 2008 I got my first Macbook for personal use and I loved it. It was much better than the Lenovo laptops the company issued us with. I'm not one of those guys who lines up for the upgrade. I'm on Macbook No. 3 in 16 years and probably won't upgrade this one for another 5-7 years. So that will be 3 in 21-23 years. So long as the machine meets my needs and doesn't fail I'll keep it. Macbook No2 still works and I still use it for a couple of apps. But it didn't have enough memory or hard disk and the battery was done which is why I upgraded. Who knew in 2013 that I would need more than 8GB memory and 250Gb hard disk? I'm really not a gear-head and that goes for phones, computers and cameras. I didn't join the rush for the Nikon Z8 or Z9 either. I'll upgrade my D500 in due course but, right now, it still does the job (I also have a Z7ii but it does a different job).

iMac is the best

I hear their voices, Baaa, Baa, Apple, iMac, iPhone, softly murmuring in unison, as a flock, Baa, Baa, baaaa
M3 Starts at $1,299 but what you will want and need costs about $2,700 and up. Note: you can't adjust the height or angle of the screen? It does tilt a little.
Answer: PC

I had my first Mac for 8 years. My second Mac lasted 10 years and I still use it for some legacy stuff that doesn't work with Sonoma. I bought this Mac - 13", M2 chip, 16Gb memory and 1Tb disk - about 18 months ago and it does everything I want.
I don't do video and this setup is absolutely perfect for my needs.

For downloads, I'm tracking at about the same level as last year which isn't great because I added 30% to my portfolio since then. I would have hoped to have more downloads. Feels like I'm working hard to stand still.
However, for revenue, I'm doing a lot better than last year .. at least so far.

Contact the auditors ... I believe it's PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Explain that you believe that SS may be defrauding suppliers/contributors and that this could be leading to a material misstatement of the financial statements. Obviously give sufficient detail to support your concerns.
You could also contact the SEC with your concerns and, if PwC ignore you, contact the PCAOB.

AS appreciably better than January 2023 - Download +88% - Revenue +107%
SS marginally better than January 2023 for downloads but better for revenue - Download +3.6% - Revenue +57%
SS still better than AS for revenue but AS is catching up fast.

I do Adobe and Shutterstock.
As in previous years, SS is around 65% and AS around 35% of total revenue. We'll see if that changes in 2024.

Almost missed it, but I saw a small fee from the contributor fund yesterday. Not even half of what we got in 2023.
I got $1.40. Off to buy the caviar and champagne in a few minutes.

The greediness of their management has no limit. So here are the consequences...and when the numbers talk all the rest does not matter.
Yeah, you can only screw people over so long before it catches up with you. By people I mean contributors - who they actually need to look after otherwise we go somewhere better, like Adobe stock. I have zero loyalty now towards S/S. Karma is a biatch.
It's business and loyalty doesn't come into it. I don't expect SS (or Adobe for that matter) to be loyal to me and I'm certainly not loyal to them. I will continue to contribute to SS just so long as it's is in my interests. If the terms or circumstances change so that it is no longer in my interests then I will walk away.

For 2023 .....
SS - Downloads +7.53%, Revenue +55.85%
AS - Downloads +29.17%, Revenue +52.36%
But ......
On SS, I increased the size of my portfolio by 32.18%. It feels like I'm uploading a lot of content for relatively little increase in downloads.
On AS, I increased the size of my portfolio by 26.71% so increase in downloads roughly matches increase in portfolio.
Nevertheless, increase in revenue on both SS and AS is very welcome and largely down to some pretty big sales during the year.
My expectation for 2024 is that AS revenue will continue to improve while SS revenue will probably stagnate or go down a bit.

My review backlog is slowly going down with the oldest in the queue having been waiting for just 18 days.

every time i see one of these in this tread i think it's a plant. so far this month i have a bunch of videos sold along with images on adobe totaling over $50 while SS hasn't cracked the $4 mark. exactly 0 videos sold and a handful of dimes in image sales. i would stop uploading if not for the keywording lookup that i then port over to other sites (though even that doesn't work as well as it used to).
Shutterstock is really beginning to struggle with both downloads and earnings. Even with a $123.90 sale earlier in November on Shutterstock, Adobe Stock is 21% ahead in earnings and 52% ahead in downloads.
I have the same experience with SS. I was doing great till the end of September. Then downloads and earnings suddenly declined significantly and that has been continued into November. Something has happened. Is it a major change to the algorithm or is it something else? Fortunately, AS continues to sell although the review process remains painful.

I'm sure that AI has its place as do many other things. I see it as a tool - a bit like the increasingly sophisticated auto-focus systems on the latest cameras - rather than as something to replace my photography. As such, I have no interest in using AI to generate images.
So far, I haven't invested in some of the AI tools like Topaz because I really don't have a need for them. But I recognize that AI is going to creep into my daily life and, to an extent, it will be unavoidable. So to say that I'll never use AI is probably wrong.
I'm sure that AI will replace some aspects of photography. However, just as art survived photography so photography will survive AI.

Right now, my oldest is just 16 days. However, Adobe should beware ... the same image was accepted by Shutterstock next day and has already sold.
Other than that, some new material is getting accepted quickly on Adobe while other images are having to wait for weeks. Perhaps Adobe has their reasoning. If so, it would be nice of them to share it.
Is Shutterstock now "officially" accepting "ai" stuff, or was this just a regular photo? Thanks!
A "regular" photo. I don't do AI.

Personally, I have no interest in doing AI. I enjoy wandering around with my camera and shooting what catches my eye.
Sometimes I get to meet other photographers doing the same and we have a good chat.
Of course, stock isn't a major income stream for me so I get to pick and choose.

There was a very sharp decline in sales for me beginning of this month. Very unusual for this time of the year. Must be another search engine tweak or the cumulative effect of their clueless management
I have seen a sharp decline both this month and last month when compared to the rest of the year.

So far this month, Shutterstock sales are very slow. I'm at about 50% of the volume I would normally expect.
Adobe sales are normal.

Is that "normal"?

My sales and revenue on SS have been increasing steadily as has the average rate per download which, this year, stands at $0.70. Yeah, I also get the $0.10 sales but they are in the minority and I've also had some big sales. In terms of total downloads and revenue, for me, SS continues to outperform Adobe. And my uploads are generally reviewed within 48 hours.
