It is nearly autumn in the southern hemisphere.

I knew about it, but didn't realized that (about stock) before you told us. Thanks!

Same for me: out of season or not, it doesn't make a big difference. And I'm afraid if I don't upload them now, when the proper season will come (here), I will be busy with other photos and will forget to upload them.

For me, it really looks like you did it fine. The topic is in :  Top 5 Micro Stock sites > StockXpert.com.

To choose a forum category...  clic on "FORUM" on the top menu. And you choose "Big 6" or "Up and Coming" depending wich site you wish to chat about.  (You can see on right side of the screen which are in "Big 6" and which are in "up and coming".

And if you reach a topic and want to know where it is classified, you can see the route on the top, just below the main menu.

already repair for me!!  :-)

I have asked for my first payment from them last month, by Moneybooker. I did receive it within 2 weeks in my Moneybooker account.

At that time, there were a note advising that payment request by Paypal will get out at a specific date. If my memory is good that was February 12th or 13th...  This made me thing that maybe they are not processing payment upon request but just put them in standby to be paid when they will reach a specific date.

Can you still see the money in you account info? Does it says "payment pending" in your balance infos?

Waiting since December... it's start to be very long waiting.  :-(

Hope you will receive it very soon.

Interesting thread!  :-)

Sometimes RAW, sometimes jpeg.

As RAW take more time to transfert to my (too old) computer and to work on, I prefer to work with jpeg as often as I can. But when the good exposure is not easy to find and/or if I suspect the image may be to dark, I shoot in raw in matter to be able to reajust image without adding too many noise.

Here is my opinion:

Your images has been reviewed and approved, so it mean they meet Istock criteria.

If those low rated photos are also accepted somewhere else, you can figure they are not so bad at all.

If you personally really think they are very bad, take them out. We should stay proud of our portfolio. But if you are not to shame to show those images to others and you think they are good enough, than leave it there.

To obtain a fair rating, all photos should be rated by the same person(s)  with the same criteria.  This is not the case here, so don't bother too much with it. -  I believe a  very fair rating should give many 1, 2, 3, some 4 and few 5.   Don't forget that a "1" don't mean the worst of the worsts, but the worst of the bests because all those photos has been reviewed.

What I most dislike in some sites, is when they ask for a minimum of words for a description.  There is one that ask for minimum 7 words in description. I can easily deal with a minimum of 5, but minimum of 7 often become a problem for me. Maybe because English is not my first language. wondering if others also have trouble with that.

I like very much when we can apply previous keywords and/or categories to next photo.

Good luck with your project. :-)

I have been shortly with them and finally, I have asked them to delete all my image and close my account. They did replied to me asking me why.

I have replyied them that it seems my photos don't match what they are looking for, because it seems they accept my worst and reject my best images.  They have replied saying that my portfolio is doing well.

My account balance was around $5.00 for few months. If $1 or $2 by months mean "doing well" for them, I suppose it mean there is not much money to do there...  But that was more because of the weird reviews results  than  because of rentability that I quit.  I wondering if it is not a strategy to make payout happens less often possible.

LuckyOliver.com / Re: Lucky Oliver upgrade.

Hi!

I'm not in OL since very long and didn't get much in my piggy bank yet, but for me they are the site that take less time to upload. And I'm doing worst somewhere elses, so I'll gave them a long long chance to make me doig some money and will continue uploading there, because I like their way.

I like the way they take time to give a personal reply to us after the review of our photos. As soon they will become much bigger, they will probably not be able to continue this, but for now I enjoy it, because I'm not in photo stock since long time, (should say not in photography since long time, so I really appreciate to receive all those cues.

I'm in Canada, so for me the way to receive payment is not an issue, but my preference is for Moneybooker. I hope they will add moneybooker and paypal in near future for all of you who need it.

And I hope they will eventually add a French version (an other languages) for customers, so more and more potential customers will be attracted by this site.  :-)

I have seen a post recently, for a bunch of people who would like to exchange comments on OL. If you don't mind to have bad English syntax comments, I would like to join. I suppose it's those people in the "Lucky Oliver portfolios" list ?!

Hi!

I'm trying RawShooter essentials and have a big color problem. Few days ago everything was fine, color shown were the exact same as I see with Canon Utilities, but now all my photos have drab colors, like if they have lost their saturation and brightness.

If someone know how to reset or adjust the needed tools to get back to original colors, I would be very very  happy. :-)

The only situation I would send it back is if I realised what was wrong and if I was able to correct it.

Some sites allow us to leave a note to the reviewer, so you can mention you did correct accordingly to the problem they have mentionned and that you would like a second review.

But of course it is possible that your photo will be accepted without any change... and it is also possible (not much probable, but possible) you get the same reviewer who maybe will remember you photo, so you will put yourself in trouble. Do you think you will do enough money with this particular photo on this particular site to take this chance?!    ???

For me those days were very quiet compare to the average of this month. Now I understand why: they were all too busy, surfing in your portfolio!   ;D

Irfanview is not so bad, but I had some problem with it two years ago. I cannot say for sure if the problem was from Irfanview or if that was a virus problem... at that time, my computer was a party place for virus!  lol

The problem I had, was that the icons images were not the same as the image itself... so I have deleted and renamed the wrong images... what a mess!  Two years later, I'm still not confident enough to rename, delete, or deplace my photos with it.

My step-father use it alot and never had problem with it. But if you decide to use this one, I suggest you do some test before been full confident with it.

Thanks to fintastique, I will try pixvue !   :)

that is a standard line from a standard release.  Nothing they have added to be mean.  HOWEVER some people, or sites, think that that line sounds a little harsh, and so they have left it out.

The release I use (the one from istock) doesn't go that far and doesn't scare the potential models.  I use the istock release for all the sites.

CJphoto, I'm not sure, but I think that I have confused you because of the SS text I have inserted... the SS text DO protect our models...

And I believe 123rf do NOT protect our models. And when submitting, we declared that we agree with 123rf rules, and sending another model release (like istock) would probably not change anything for 123rf, because when sending photos there you have agreed with their terms and conditions and you have the obligation to provide the proper release to reach for their own rules!!

Here is the terms of use for 123rf: http://www.123rf.com/terms.php
And the release is available on the side menu when login as photographer on the site.

Thank you very much to all of you.

Finally I took decision to do not send any people photo's on that site as long as the situation will still the same. Their legal text (the one for their customers) do not have any rules about it, so their customers can do anything they want with those photos no matter which release we send. And for me, their release only reflect their position about that. Our models are not protected at all.  :o

Well, they have wrote their rules, and the decision to go with it or not is ours...

About using only the istock releases:  For my part, I decide to ask my models to sign four releases because the SS release require the ID card on the release so the model understand better why I ask for it; Istock because they require their own; Dreamstime because they have it in French !!!!!  and  the last one is a general one. -  I send it in advance to my models so they have all the time they need to read and/or find someone to translate / explain them what that mean exactly. And they have time to go visit all those sites and decide if they agree to have their face there!  :-)

Thank you again to all of you. I am very happy about my decision to join this forum!!  ;D

Oh!  Than maybe there is alot I didn't catch correctly.    :o

As English is not my first language, I maybe get it wrong, but for me, 123rf release says that the model accept to be subject to scandal and that they allowed 123rf customers to attempt to their dignity... right?  The way you understand it, is it really what the text release mean?

For me, others releases does not mean exactly that. And as exemple that others do not exactly request the same from models, have a look at Shutterstock legal text for customers, it seems to me that they try their best to protect models against that:

Shutterstock legal text: "PART II / RESTRICTIONS /YOU MAY NOT : ... Use an Image in a way that places any person in the photo in a bad light or depicts them in a way that they may find offensive - this includes, but is not limited to: a) the use of Images in pornography; b) tobacco ads; c) ads for adult entertainment clubs or similar venues, or for escort, dating or similar services; d) political endorsements; e) advertisements for pharmaceutical products, including, but not limited to personal hygiene or birth control products; and f) uses that are defamatory, or contain otherwise unlawful, offensive or immoral content."

I guess I have to get back to all those legal texts from all stock I'm in... I start having an headache now...  lol

123RF / Their model release
November 24, 2006, 12:49
Good day:

I do have a question about the release available on 123rf website. The way I understand it, with this release form it seem that they have less respect for our models than other stock sites. Would someone kindly let me know about their opinion about 123rf model release form. Maybe I get it wrong?

"... either intentionally or otherwise and subject me to scandal, scorn, ridicule, reproach or indignity. ..."

Thank you in advance!
