Thanks for pointing this out, it was news to me,  but a quick search on google brought up a whole load of information including the case of Johnson & Johnson suing the American Red Cross society for using the Red Cross for commercial purposes.

Istock overall is my lowest with about 60%, although I find if I reduce my image sizes to 3000 X 2000 pixels a lot less of them are rejected for artifacting.

Recently however StockXpert seem to reject everything I send them.

My understanding was that British notes were subject to copyright, whereas coins were not. I'm not aware that this had changed, but I can't seem to find it in writing anywhere.

By the way, I just had a picture of a medical bag with a red cross on a white background rejected for copyright violation on IS which seemed rather strange, they certainly appear to be very cautious at the moment.

The funny thing is I found his post quite inspiring.

After having a look on his site, and the images he has on Alamy, I am tempted to give RM a go, something which I had been reluctant to do as I wasn't sure if my images were good enough. However after seeing his portfolio, I think it's worth trying.

I've bookmarked his site for inspiration.

I have the Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner, the resolution is lower and it's a couple of years old now. It can produce nice images that print well at 16"x12" from a 35mm slide, but I have not managed to get any images through the inspection process at either Shutterstock or Istock. I have had some accepted at Fotolia & BigStock,

These have been all scanned from 35mm though not medium format.

pretty much the same experience for me too, I have started uploading for the first time in a couple of months, and have seen an increase in downloads at most sites, the only exception being fotolia, where the downloads have dropped.

But with a small portfolio such as mine its difficult to get a clear picture as I'm prone to more ebb and flow than those with a huge diverse portfolio.

When i first submitted to Fotolia about a year ago they rejected most of my animal images, but apart from that they accept nearly everything I submit. I have an acceptance rate of around 95%.

Istock on the other hand manage to see artifacts in about 40% of everything I upload. Having said that I'm not going to complain as with around half as many images online as Fotolia they generate 3 times as much income for me.

That's why there's no pictures of alcohol in my portfolio, only empty glasses. 

I have not been uploading any new images over the last couple of months, and the most noticeable thing is the huge decrease in income from Shutterstock, this month was only 25% of my BME.  Good month at Istock though.

As an Englishman I am selling on the British version of Fotolia. For each credit we receive 57 pence, at the present exchange rate that is still better than $1 by around 10%. For me that's not a huge difference, but it obviously depends on the amount of images that you sell.

just started to resubmit images after a couple of months off while I was moving house. The good thing I noticed on Istock was no discernable drop in downloads, unlike Shutterstock.

I started microstock at the beginning of this year, and for most of that time Fotolia has been very slow for me, almost to the point where I stopped uploading. However they are easy to upload to and is one of the sites which I have an acceptance rate well in excess of 90%.

Well last month I had my best month ever with them, and have exceeded that already this month. In fact so far this month they are my number one earner, when previously they accounted for around 5% of my income, way behind Shutterstock, Istock and Dreamstime. I can't say I understand why, and I'm sure it wont stay that way.

As I seem to say in every post I make, I don't have a big portfolio (some sort of inferiority complex? I say the same to every girl that I meet  ), but I think that this most probably accounts for more ebb & flo than those with many more images.

Everything has gone a bit haywire this month so far for me, the sites where I normally struggle have been doing well, I have already had BME at Fotolia (aided by my first ever EL), 123RF & Crestock, but not so well at Shutterstock and IS which have consistently been my best performers each month for the year that I have been dabbling with stock photography

As my portfolio only runs to a couple of hundred at most on any site, I am most probably more prone to fluctuations than most on here.

I don't normally post my monthly figures as there pretty low compared to a lot of people on here, but just for the record.

I have used it without any problems on every site I have submitted to.

Wow on a good month I average about 20c per image, I'm going to have to go some just to get anywhere near 50c an image.

Oh well I better get out and shoot some more images.

although my sales are pretty small, my figures are 1c out as well. I noticed it a few months ago, but as it's stayed the same amount all the time didn't give it much thought.

I initially thought it would be to do with the subscription sales as they seemed to change the amount around the same time I joined. However when I added up both rows I can see that the credit sales earnings column is 1c short of the sum of the individual totals.

A bit strange eh!

I must admit to a vague feeling of disappointment at the start of this month as October had seen a rise in income of over 50% compared to September with only a 7% increase in my overall portfolio. So far this month things have dropped back to September levels.

I can't seem to get it to turn anti clockwise. I even tried repeatedly hitting the left side of my head, just in case that side of my brain had gone to sleep, but that didn't do it either.

I'm still trying to break into the top 5000!

RRP here in UK is £899, at exchange rate of 2.06 dollars to the pound that's $1852 US

I do find it strange how different people have varying success with uploads at different sites. Touch wood, I rarely get rejections at SS, whilst at IS I struggle to achieve an acceptance rate much above 50%, mainly for artifacting when viewed at 100%.

I presume that most of the differences come from different ways of post processing, sometimes I will downsize my images on IS and use a spot of gaussian blur for skies and darker areas if I feel it's worth resubmitting, it's generally not worth it for just one site.

I see another of their images uploaded the same day has 74 dowloads already. Impressive images and it's good to see it's possible to get so many downloads, but it's still frustrating that someone can get away with such obvious keyword spamming. I don't even know what some of them mean
