123RF / Re: How are your sales at 123RF?
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:34 »
In 2011, 123rf is the third in earnings, rather than DT, and duplicate FT.

Bad news. any lowering of commissions is bad. And it seems unjustified. 123rf sales is increasing. Now 123rf wants to win more money with new contributors? bad news

What amazes me is how they manage to make something that was working stop working all of a sudden. I have registered this month's sales in my spreadsheet, and now I only see one at Nov 1st (unless I try many times). What do these people do with their code to let this happen?? How can we even trust that each sale is being registered correctly?
+1

123 was always better than FT for me. Although she has been rather bad ... some months, unlike the survey ...

I have a excellent 2011 with 123RF, but October is very bad. Patience, a bad month it does not mean anything.
Although better to Fotolia ... what disaster!

I don't spend hours working on the site.  It probably takes less than 1 minute a month.  I don't know any burger places that pay 10-20$/month for one minutes work.  I can also not do anything with the site for a year and it still earns me money.

Well then I'd like to know the secret of uploading for instance 30 files/month (which is really not a lot, but my average lately), attaching various releases and completing the upload process after that. And of course I never do it all at once, it's a batch a week. It sure doesn't take an hour or more, but it does at least 5 minutes each time. Earning as it is now, 5$/month with the prospect of earning 10-20$ is really not what I signed up for. And all the bugs and glitches, leading to reuploding easily makes it an hour or two, especially if you have to ask questions about it in the forum, like I had to. As many glithces as at IS at its worst, but for a fraction of return.

I disagree with you. I have no problem with CanStock. Few sales ... ok. But the site is nice, easy and quick review, high acceptance of photos, fair commissions, and surprise with sales.
But very few 150 photos ...
Forget the web. Let it rest a few months. Do not think, do not look, do not open it. And in the spring look ... What is the problem?

I stop uploading images.
Nor is much, Fotolia is fifth in my ranking. And I am a very small fish, but I prefer give the opportunity to other banks.

I have calculated the loss in commissions. It will be difficult to know now whether it is standard or premium. But these are:

If there are errors, please say so and update

Thanks for the chart, I was thinking of making the same but you beat me to it.
;)

The speed was for rage. For White, Bronze and Silver the difference is scandalous

During August and with premeditation, further reduction of the commissions in fotolia ...

Second in less than year. Ol! The reason (With this latest release, we have revised our subscription plans to align with what is happening in the marketplace. ), reasoned in 3 minutes.

12 subs out of 20. Normal.

I just had a sale there for which I received 17 cents.  I think that's a new low.

Obviously, all IS will do in the future is just continue to grind commissions into dust.
I had one of 12 cents ... I think I read a thread that was one of 9 cent...

Don't necessariy panic. It may be the notorious 'summer slump'. You may rise again.
Thanks, but only summer in IS? Better month in 123RF (spectacular), and good in FT and Shutter... It is a bad year in IS, but now three months going down in IS. It is no accident. And they have gone down the commissions...
Sometimes I have the feeling to be a masochist :-[
123 RF and Shutterstock seem to be (mainly?) subscription sites, so obviously their sales will be more steady as buyers make sure they get value from their subscriptions. I thought Fotolia was too, but hopping over there, it seems not.
In previous years, most (but not all) iStock subscribers have reported significant dips in sales in July and August. Generally the best months are October and November (from anecdotal evidence on the forums, and from a claim by Kelly Thomson, which wasn't borne out last year).
This year my sales were relatively (to previous years) poor from Jan - April, then rose in May until mid-July.
Who ever knows what's going on? Ebb and flow? Best Match? The Moon in the Seventh Sun?
You just have to do what feels best to you. As you're independent, there can't be much harm in iStock being one of the sites you upload to, but if you don't want to, as Sean would say, that's less competition for the rest of us.  ;)

You are right. And that's what I do. Thanks for the tips, really.

To my microstock is a secondary experience, but very interesting. But I really like photography and enjoy learning with each shot and error. I admire people who devote themselves exclusively to microstock. It must be very hard, especially because it is unstable, and my intuition says continue to increase its will be more. I wish I I'm wrong.

I really dont mind about discount if they keep on increasing my earnings month after month.. they are going over FT, IS, DT.. if they will continue like this they will be my 3rd agency.. they certainly have buyers so I have big hope on them, keep up the good work..

I am having close to 100 sales there per month

They do not matter you discounts? You will have to work more to win the same...

Hi ToniFlap,

Kindly email your UID to [email protected] so that we can check it for you.

Have a pleasant day!

Cheers,

Anglee, thanks for the reply
The wait time is not very serious (two weeks). But it is not normal. I wanted to reply to the companion of the forum. I understand what you wrote at first (many photos sent recently), so I will wait a few days.

(Congratulations for the 10,000,000 of photos)

IS has always said that it's irrelevant to them that something sells elsewhere. Not sure why that is irrelevant as these sites aren't art galleries.

very true!
