So... big guys win and there's nothing we can do?
#27
With WordPress and some modules you can do it. Isn't plug and play.

Hello Steve, I read you since some years ago. Nice to meet you here. I used it too for sell some images with similar poor result. The configuration was also a pain. I'm thinking about something like picfair.

Sales are for sure the main factor, but without a platform we can't search for customers.

I don't have any revolutionary idea, sorry. Perhaps doing it, we can find one.

Hello,

I think it is time to try something new. If you are a programmer and you would like to make a stock agency that pays 50% to contributors send me a private message and we will talk. Isn't a job offer, I don't have money to invest in this. I can take care of server management and very basic programming or design.

Some initial ideas:

- 50% for the contributor.
- Upload by FTP very easy.
- Without categories.

I am not sure if with or without exclusivity. The problem would be to ask for exclusivity if at the beginning when there will be any sale.

Please share any comments about this idea.

Thank you.

I would like to collaborate with the hosting/server side.

I think it's a better idea to suspend the content and force them to mantain useless full disks forever 8)
#33
They are going to have a lot of disk space for content offline. Perhaps in the future they force us to delete them.

From 4900+ to 68 in 48h:

I'm even happy. I have read the Pond5 commissions and they pay 50%! normal now seems exceptional to me. Bye SS, I'm worth more.

24h after I disabled the account, my images are still online.
#37
Wow! you have it very clear.

I have doubted this morning, but my first 0,1 sale help me to give the step. But, Are you still collaborating with istock? I say this by your signature. They pay also cents, sure?

I only uploaded actively to SS, AS and Pond5. Now, I don't really know where else to go because the alternatives don't convince me. (I think I have tried them all already).
#38
I thought this, but I preferred not to waste time. Totally agree Jo Ann. Are you going to continue selling on SS?
#39
I asked them how much time it takes to take down all the photos, and they said that 72h. Let's see what happend.

It's a personal and difficult decission I don't like to be thinking about, but if I don't do anything, they win completely.

0,33 before

0,10 now

I think 70% loss it's well calculated.

#42
I guess nobody cares, but here is one more that has deactivated sales. I never thought I would do this.
#43
Finally I have deleted all the images and the account, after having to threaten them. My recommendation is that you do not upload more images since they will remain with the rights of the same for 2 years.
#44
Cavan says it's because Getty pays that for premium content. Cavan will have my images hijacked for 2 years or until my claim to the authorities is processed. I do not know the cause of the problem but it is the photographers who suffer it is the reality.
#45
Yes, sorry, I also was excited about the "premium" idea.
#46
Hello,

I wanted to publish my first premium sale in Cavan Images in case it helps prevent someone from wasting time at this agency.

After uploading a few images, I did not like how they worked and asked to leave. I have been told that I cannot until after 2 years. So they are going to keep the "premium" sales of my photos because they probably won't reach the minimum to charge.

Anyway, I'll be glad when they close.
#47
Yes, I also didn't know what this means and read a complete article on wikipedia about this, very interesting. Time goes by but we keep doing the same.
#48
I closed my account but they doesn't pay the pending money. I also lost my time there.
#49
Hello,

Since I'm not accepted at premium agencies, I'm testing at distributors, but I do not find much information about it in the forum.

For the moment, I have found these:

Cavan Images: a very slow review service with no control over where the photos are accepted (if they have accepted them somewhere).

AddictiveStock: rejected after 2 months.

Robert Harding: just for travel photos. They ask for pictures of a very large size, which with my 24M camera sometimes does not fit.

General Macrostock / Cavan images opinions?
March 11, 2019, 18:52
Hello,

I have been testing this distributor for a week. At the moment they have accepted some image but what I do not like is that I can not see what agencies my photos are in. Is it worth giving them the exclusivity?

I appreciate any comments or experience with them, thanks.
