General Macrostock / Re: Getty report for Feb 2016
« on: March 22, 2016, 07:20 »
@MarcvsTvllivs

Getty is giving me for RM pictures 30%
For images that were bought in the same territory like the photo was shot even 35%
RF images 20%

@PhotoDude

Getty invited me via my Vimeo account. They saw my movies:
https://vimeo.com/martindeja

Unfortunately they stopped inviting via Vimeo.

Here you can submit samples of your work:

It was really worth the wait!

This still was sold for $4850!!!

30% royalties is a pain in the ass, but after all a good income.

Macrostock is awesome, you can get big sales, but i'm a bit afraid of a refund.
Crossing fingers for getting no refund...

With the other sales, video and stills, February gets me about $2000 with Getty.
I know Getty has not the best reputation, i agree, but Getty is sometimes able to put a smile in your face! ;)

Best regards,

Martin

There is a lot of discomfort at Getty forum since Friday, but no answer from Getty till now.
It's very unusual that there are no reports yet. Normaly i receive mine on 19th.

Uploading both could be the solution, right, but the render times, and the disk space...
Especially when you are working with RAW files.
Not easy to decide.

Like Mantis said it depends.

A great way to add some movements:

Sometimes i use the technique above, sometimes just layering, or both, like in this example i did a few days ago during my skiing holidays:

I'm uploading to Getty.

The royalty rate varies between 20% and 35%.

This clip was sold for $2000 and with the royalty rate of 30% i've earned $600.

http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/video/hamburg-airport-hyperlapse-stock-video-footage/456862780

Also stills can be valuable.
This one was sold for $455. $91 (20%) for me:

Sometimes you can get there even really high earnings, like $10.000 for one single picture. I myself didn't experienced it yet, but maybe sometimes... ;)
But Getty has also a program called "Premium Access". That allows companies like "AOL" to download stuff for pennies. I'm going crazy every time my footage was sold for $15 or something like that!

iStock exclusive content is mirrored to Getty.
And yes, exclusive only.

Best regards,

Martin

But Getty doesn't accept ProRes encoded with third party plugins.
Only files exportet via Mac are welcome.

33
I always export my footage to Photo-Jpeg @95%
To avoid banding i add a little bit of grain or noise, just a little. That helps, because the codec has to work preciser then.
Unfortunately ProRes is not available for PC users... :-(

BTW, Magic Lantern only allows 5 - 15 seconds of RAW video recording, even with a very fast CF-Card.

Best regards,

Martin

Same here!

From $10 to $6.

Strange...

Und hier ein Fischkopf aus Hamburg. ;)

Old but gold! ;)

1. Getty Images (only exclusive footage)
2. Pond5 (sometimes they give me useful keywords)
3. Shutterstock
4. Fotolia
5. The rest

I'm living in Hamburg/Germany.

Beautiful city, but with hillbilly inhabitants. I'm thinking of leaving my hometown due to the fact that these hillbillys voted against Hamburg to be a potential host of the olympic games in 2024...

Really beautiful:

Software - General / Re: Export to ProRes 422 in Windows
« on: November 30, 2015, 18:10 »
Like Getty Images, iStock is not accepting any ProRes file exported on Windows with plugins. Their ESP System can't handle them. Only native Mac files work.
Maybe the ProRes plugins doesn't work properly on PC?

Waiting till Getty offers different codecs...
All other agencies are good with QT_Photo_Jpeg.

Yeah, it will be interesting to read about Mantis results...

Martin

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 review times
« on: November 25, 2015, 14:45 »
Hopefully everything is ok with Pond5 and it will not be a Revostock 2.0...

Footage is waiting for 30 days now...

Martin

Not that much, about $300.

I feel sorry for contributors who lost way more money than i do.

But i'm also angry about Craigs delaying tactics. "I will do anything", "you will get your money", blabla....
And closing his site with a simple text message is non-professional!

Thank god i rescued my $600 before all this crap happened. ;)

Yeah, patent trolls suck, but he could have been more honest, regarding to the no future thing with Revostock.

Apropos future: What does it mean when Craig says something about transferring our portfolios to other sites? I've read here in the forum that Craig is a comedian? Well, then it was a joke! ;)

Regards,

Martin
