I have a photo showing a United States locale that is named using a non-standard English character. It has an in the formal name. When writing keywords/titles, should I use a standard n or keep the tilde?

Dreamstime made me change it to a regular n, but Im not sure how to best handle other sites to ensure its easily findable by buyers.

If AI photos are being approved faster, should I just fib and select the AI button? Or would hey know it was a lie since the people all have the right number of fingers? ;D

Wow! Im impressed. My portfolio is about 50/50 sales/no.

For me it starts on page 13 with the pictures without downloads.

I submitted a couple Illustrative Editorial photos that were approved in less than 24 hours. Meanwhile, in the regular photo approvals, Im on day 26 of waiting

Are you saying that isnt what cats look like? Im doomed!

Beatnicks, the Jazz and coffee shop people, the Cool Cats, (and folk music too) were pretty much wiped out by the Hippies and the British Invasion.  ;D

Wow, I had no idea!

Its also a very insulting test to those of us who dont know what cats look like.

They are very groovy, wear Sunglasses, (day and night) have a goatee, probably wearing a little beret and a turtleneck.

That's what a cat looks like. Did that help you?

The trick for me is I have a bunch of eligible images that are part of a series. While individually it might be great to get $5 for one, I greatly fear it would cannibalize sales from the others. Why buy the image you really want if you can get a super close one for nothing?

I got a big for bigstock adjustment Apr 5 also. I opted out as soon as I was able to last year. I checked again and they opted me back in. So much for transparency and all that. I opted back out again. I wonder how long that will last.

Where is the Big Stock opt out anyway? I cant find it.

Thanks for the help, I'm using a laptop, I was able to see the option when I zoomed out in my browser.

Yes, it's funny to consider that we're all on the same Internet, looking at the same site, same page, and there are so many various ways the same content, might display.

Were updating our website backend at work and this is a major reason why to turn away from designs that are more desktop centric. Im cranky about it even though theyre 100% right. Our pages usually look just fine on mobile, but when they dont, they really dont.

Print on Demand Forum / Re: Selling on Fine Art America
« on: March 31, 2024, 16:16 »
I provide links to stock photos. Will they be sold on the Fine Art America website?
These are more stock images. Find Art America is looking more for things that someone might get printed on a T-shirt, or framed and put on a wall, or put on a coffee mug.

My images are more microstock but I did upload a ton of landscapes there. Unfortunately they sell about as well as landscapes do on microstock. I made $24 last year and $33 the year before. I paid for an account for two years but then my credit card number changed so they couldnt bill me again. They block you from uploading new images but dont take down any of your old photos, so Ill make another $25 this year.

Alamy.com / Infringement use
« on: March 22, 2024, 22:04 »
Ive got an unusual sale on Alamy. Under the use details, it tells me Editorial website and app multiple use, in perpetuity; Infringement.

I assume this means a buyer was wracked with guilt over stealing an image and decided to come clean and buy it for real?

« on: March 21, 2024, 14:44 »

I do see plenty of SS image used on covers (as well as Getty, less so AS), but it's usually as some part of composite with another image or more from the larger and more artistic agencies, Arcangel/Trevillion.

I don't think any serious publisher would use a SS or microstock image on its own knowing full well a competitor or even random business could start using it on let's say a toothpaste ad (or much worse) thus diminishing its uniqueness.

To my great surprise, the cover of the last book I read is an iStock image. It was an NY Times bestseller. All the sudden Im judging the publisher hard.

I disabled my port in 2020 when they cut royalties to 0.10. It was the right decision for me.

41
We rely so much on individual bestsellers. It is fun to see them blow up fast, but depressing when it goes back down.

Trying to diversify my content for better balance.

My number one image sells 1,000% more often than my second most popular image. If I wasnt looking right at the stats I wouldnt believe it. Im always a little worried the algorithm will change and my sales will go way down.

My 200 isolated tomato photos are each unique and original and with great sales potential.

My last credit sale was in August, although I got a $2.00 subscription sale just this week. So yea, the levels dont mean much, but DT is a consistent, if slow, earner for me.

Adobe Stock / Re: Am I human
« on: January 16, 2024, 23:18 »
Could you upload some of my, definitely human-taken images, for me? I have been unable to use Adobe with the new features. I am certainly very good at identifying images of cats, as good as any human person, but am in need of assistance from a fellow human person.

46
These are really nice. Ill admit I was expecting average snapshots, but these are great. As others have said, landscapes are tough. I have two landscapes that sell well. One is a total fluke (pine trees and a stream) and the other is a recognizable but somehow not over saturated on microstock vista in the United States.

I agree with others on getting more landmarks and images from travels to larger cities. Dont take trips just for stock; go places you want to go anyway and bring your camera,

47

On the other hand, I really like that they are raising prices. I am getting these 1.25 sales that all used to be 99 cents.

I think I will focus on simple stuff for a while. And video.

Did they used to be $.99? Or were those the $3.30 downloads that we dont get much anymore?

48
based on previous years it's too early for any announcement - last year's was late Feb(?) and credits in early March (?) - dates may be off by a week or so

i won a bet last year against those who thought the program would be canceled - anyone want to take the bet this year & buy me a few americanos?

Im still cranky about losing that bet!

49
I'm reminded of scams that offer real estate that the seller doesn't actually own.  (Probably not the case in this particular post, maybe?)

Hey! Theres no proof Im not Ansel Adams.

We know you copied us you used the word milquetoast in generated articles. No human has ever used that word other than NY Times reporters!
