Nice month for me, better than 2019 (more 10$). No covid for march, but in april, I added +-60 pics related to covid-19 (editorial and not), I think they will sell quite well ... to see during the April stats.

PA Media Group acquires Alamy

Hi Contributors,

Today PA Media Group, the UK-based news and information business, has announced the acquisition of Alamy. You can view the press release here.
https://alamy-updates.com/2SWW-103AT-53LXKE-MBPL5-1/c.aspx

Together with PA Images' live news, sport and entertainment photography service this acquisition will allow the two businesses to fully capitalise on the huge demand for both stock and news imagery from customers around the world.

Please be assured that it's business as usual at Alamy with no change in our service to you. We will continue to operate as before, with no current plans to change prices or terms.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or your account handler and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks,

Alamy

Hello, I received an email a few months ago telling me that I could have free PS, LR cloud ... because I uploaded more than 300 photos. I lost this email, do you know how I can get this without the email? I looked into my account, but didin't see anything.

thanks

I realize I'm not the first to talk about this and I understand it's a very competitive business for microstock companies but, seriously, $24.05 for 63 photos sold on Shutterstock, nothing too encouraging for a newbie like me. Rant over, thanks for listening.

For my personal experience after 2 years, yes, a lot crumbs. But sometimes, I had some nice surprises. I tried several agencies, but now I stay with the top 6 of the list because the others were not worth it. In short, for me, the pole results reflects reality. After two years, as an amateur photographer (travel, landscape, cityscape and editorial) allowed me to pay for my camera, my lenses, all my equipment (filters, etc.), my photography classes, software, and I just bought myself a mavic pro platinum. It is the accumulation of crumbs that allowed this.

At the end of the second year, I doubled what I did in the first year, I hope to have the same fluctuation at the end of the third year!
As long as I have fun, I will continue ... but do not rely on this income to make a living!
Thanks for sharing your positive experience. Aside from the occasional rant, most of the time I view this venture as an opportunity to practice my favorite hobby, to get better at it and to make a few bucks in the process. All is good! 8)

that's how I think. Have fun!

MicrostockSubmitter / "Error parsing site page"
December 11, 2019, 23:58
Hi,

Since today I'm getting this error when using "Quickmeta" function (auto keyworking):

"Error parsing site page". Site has probably changed pages format. Update StockSubmitter to latest version and try again. If problem persist, try again later. Unable to find title on image". I have the latest version...

Any fix for this?

Thanks!

Hey gang,

I just got an unussual email from someone claiming they got my email address from DepositPhoto:

"Greetings!

My name is Masja Stokkermans, I found your e-mail address from [ http://depositphotos.com ], I hope we can have a positive correspondence and also we can work together? Best regards, in anticipation to hear from you soon.

Masja S."

I suspect that is a scam espacially since it was sent from an email with another name: [email protected]

Has anyone ever received a similar e-mail?

"Stokkermans" LOL a real scam.

Started mid-october 2019, port around 1500, travel and editorial, 14 sales, 3 over 1$, easy upload, fast reviewing process... not a bad at all.

Nice video.

I have 2 questions about blackbox , they said "We deal with Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond5, Storyblocks and VimeoStock."

What happens if my videos are already on SS, AS, P5?
What is the advantage of registering with BB?

thanks

bb only takes exclusive content and they prefer new work, not files deactivated elsewhere.

I just treat them as an additional agency.

You can read more about them in their facebook group, they have lots of faqs.

Thanks, I see that is not for me!

I said I would only sell the image if they explicitly in writing were willing to take on any legal consequences that would result from their use of the image fully. Just make sure you cover yourself and ask for it in writing

@Noodle : Just did it! thanks you.
@ShadySue : Thank you...

Hi, i just received this, it concerns an editorial photo (no people). As I understand it, they want me to remove the editorial restriction for commercial? thank you for helping me :

Hi Christiano,

How are you? We have a customer that would love to have a consumer goods licence for an image you've contributed to us. The image ID is:

Your Image ID: XXXX
Alamy Image ID: XXXX

They want to use the image in a  calendar. Is it possible to lift the restriction for them please?

Speak to you soon,

I use a slightly modified version of this one to upload to iStock, never had a problem.
http://arcurs.com/wp-content/uploads/Model-Release-unsigned.pdf

Though mine are always printed out, signed by hand, and scanned, before uploading to iStock. It reads like perhaps you went the all digital route? Maybe that is why they insisted on easy release.

I used the same form from Getty, signed and scanned just like yours... I understand that they want to go 100% digital with an application (Easy release) ... more and more complicated to upload on IS

Hello, I do not often upload pictures needing a model release, however, I just uploaded a few with the standard form in pdf. The form has been accepted everywhere, except with IS who asks for an electronic version from an app called "easy release"... which costs $ 12.99 with android ... can I use another free one? Is this really the only app that IS accepts?

IS message :"Release: We only accept digitally signed releases created with applications approved on this article: https://contributors.gettyimages.com/article.aspx?article_id=3069"

thanks

Saw on esp.gettyimages.com just now. Copied and pasted below.

Update to contributors on spike in returns on August statements.
just now
There were a number of licenses from one of our distribution partners, Canva, that were refunded on the August 2019 royalty statements and then re-reported at a corrected amount. There were two reasons for this:

1. Some Canva licenses of Essentials images were reported using the incorrect currency (USD instead of AUD). These were initially reported on the June 2019 statement, and corrected on the August 2019 statement.

2. Throughout 2018 to July 2019, a number of other Canva licenses were reported incorrectly to us at double the actual revenue. This resulted in an over-payment of royalties to contributors. These were corrected on the August 2019 statement.

In both examples, contributors impacted by this would see the original license removed and the correct relicense amount reported, which will be lower than the original license. All refunds appear in red on the royalty statement.

If you are seeing a number of refunds associated to Canva, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and for not notifying you in advance. We're looking to our processes to try to ensure we can avoid this kind of issue in the future.
