I'm putting a 99% likelihood on this sale being fraud.
I'm just hoping i don't wake up one morning and find my entire account suspended for suspicious activity. There is no way that video is worth 1% of that fee.
WOW, congrats, never seen such a big sale, wondering if was sold under clip packs, enhanced video or cart sales.
Its down as a "Cart Sale". But a 100% chance of being fraud/scam/error as it sold again today for a similar amount. (Previous record for me was $500 but that was legit). Something bad is going on here.

Something suspicious is going on. Same file just sold again today for roughly the same amount.
No idea how/what but something, somewhere is screwing around.

I logged in to submit and check status of a few files and its horrific. Now multiple clicks to find the rejection reason of a file and from what i can see, no way of displaying more than 1 at a time.
Submitting makes batches much harder. Now again multiple clicks on each one in turn to change or submit. No real way to do a batch or see what needs changing.
It hugely increases the time and inconvenience of submissions and checking submission status. Fortunately, you can still go back to the older one but for how long.....
Its the biggest step backwards on the submit page ive seen since contributing.

It sounds like they are just getting a bit lazy/offsetting the work to the contributor. Before the Pond5 reviewers would check/deterimine if it was editorial, and mark it as such. Now they are making "you" do "their" job...
Same, the P5 workflow is horrible enough already but i just sent everything, keyworded with a sensible description and let the staff decide if its editorial or not. Now its extra work deciding on a per clip basis, writing new descriptions and so on.

Email states the changes come in from Dec 4th.
Looks entirely to align it with Shutterstocks world view/lawyer view.
Editorial videos must now be labelled as such by the contributor and have an editorial caption.
Reminder about trademarks not allowed in keywords.

Im seeing more and more of this happening.
Sometimes its a small, genuine mistake, sometimes its just suspicious buying patterns by an outsider with a stolen credit card.
There seems to be no fair chance to respond and address the issue or expediate the process at all. More and more it seems like anyone could lose their AS account, at any moment, for no clear reason and struggle to get it back, if ever.
The lack of security for contributors now seems worse than shutterstock - all attempts to treat contributors as fair partners appears to have been abandoned.

Was it filmed from a drone?
Yes.
To fly a drone over cities, do you get some kind of permission or can anyone fly? How much money does it cost to get a permit?
That depends entirely on where you are in the world and potentially how heavy your drone is. Answers range from no to yes depending on that.

I'm seeing parallels here with SS a few years ago.
When it decided to massively expand its library suddenly it lacked the software, systems and human staff to cope with the surge and just introduced poorly designed systems and procedures to wade through the mess.
This to me looks similar - they cant cope with volume and are desperately trying to implement things to counter it with no real testing or plan.

Is there any sort of common trend here? Im fully aware of huge review times (and know in person someone with the issue) but ive submitted 30 images on the weekend and they're already live.
I've had 1 image stuck in-queue for weeks now that hasn't moved but everything else has.
The review delays seem to be random and vary person to person with no clear link from what i can see.

Questions about accepted content - content Adobe's moderation team accepted, let's not forget - must not result in a blocked account.
-Send email to the contributor detailing the potential issue and ask them to contribute any information that might help in the investigation. -Block upload privileges during the investigation -Remove from active status the images being investigated but leave everything else for sale -Send progress email with information about the investigation (weekly would be good given how long things are taking) -Prioritize investigations to handle contributors with long-standing accounts first; 10+ years, 5+ years, 1+ years, newbies -If the investigation isn't concluded within 4 weeks, enable upload privileges, possibly with instructions to the contributor not to upload certain types of content
Seems fair but i'd like to see the account kept online (minus the queried media) and sale money held in escrow. If the investigation finds in the contributors favour, its transferred to their account. That way we won't see the anecdotal de-ranking of media even after an account is returned. Im seeing more and more of these account blocks and from people who im sure aren't doing anything wrong. Some appear to be blocked due to suspicious transactions on their account so if a scammer picks you to test, unlucky. I used to have zero faith in not waking up one morning to find SS blocked for no reason. I now feel exactly the same could happen to anyone on AS at any time.

It does seem you can only see any images or delete images from the catalogue if you opt in to data licensing which is a particularly cynical move even by SS standards.

Ive got about 2,500 video clips and since it came in have seen a slow, steadily decline in revenue.
No idea about sales volume - i cant see an easy way of displaying that on the stats insight.

I have opted out about 2 months ago, and this week I also got 1 file "eligible for data licensing". I hope that just means that "it would be suitable for data licensing but we won't use it since you opted out" ... Or, in other words, "the file is refused, we know you opted out, but we're using the new term because then we don't have to give you any reason of refusal" ...
Also remember that previously they used everyone's images for training without asking permission first. So, do you trust them not to use the data that's conveniently in a catalogue? Do you REALLY trust them?

You get SOME rejections now but not many. Most are "Similar" or issues with IP.
Almost all now are rejected with "accepted for data licensing" even if opted out.

You see it fairly often being advertised on the Facebook pages - people with subs left at the end of the month buying images to boost people and/or then selling them those images to use themselves.

All back to normal so exactly what happens with a weekend-holiday month. Nothing unheard of going on.

...if you look at the SS stock price, it lost almost 50% over this summer, it may explain current situation, no payments for August yet, the contributor's site is down... SS might have problem to pay its debts... I hope not!!! Its performance over summer was not so bad...
Not really, payment delays always happen when a month starts with a weekend then US public holiday where they don't work. The site goes down occasionally. Theres nothing out of the ordinary here (and site is already back up).

Ive just had a ton of editorial rejected for NLC but again hugely inconsistent.
Shots of people swimming in a rural lake surrounded by trees and forest. Not a protected location or anything of the sort. Two separate lakes.
But as per usual with inconsistencies others from the same place got in.
RF from the same location with the people removed (some only distance silhouettes) seem to have been approved.
As a wild guess im thinking its something in the description (a place maybe) they don't like but far from certain.
(Unrelated note, editorial beach shot rejected from Greece for Nudity because it showed a bloke with no shirt on about 50m away swimming.)

It was a month that started with a weekend then public holiday.
This thing happens quite often, no payment stuff gets done until people go to work. So yesterday was the earliest they'd start doing it.
That happens now and then. The difference is that the pending unpaid amount has been returned to the monthly status.
This happened briefly a few months ago as well, balance when up and back down. Maybe june but around that time.

Im still not seeing this. I'm getting maybe a 2-3 day time period for new images to be uploaded and its been like that for a while. Last batch i submitted on the weekend have been reviewed sometime before now when i checked.
That said, for some reason, ive had 4 images stuck in the queue for 2 weeks now that havent budged but the other 150 or so went through.

[*
IS is the place that removes images. I've never had SS remove an image of mine after the fact.
I've had several. One lot were after UK national trust did an (illegal as it turned out) rights grab. Various sections of natural UK coastline images got removed (and for others). I've also I think had clownfish with keyword Nemo removed about 4 years after upload. They seem to do occasional database wide searches when a policy changes and remove. Every now and again they add a place to their exclusion list and there's a purge after it.

There are probably youtubers somewhere sharing their "secret tips" to get ai content into agencies that formally do not take ai content.
FB groups are full of it, a combination of telling them how to avoid getting caught or "DM for more info".
