Been using the 50D for a month now... have put it to the test in studio, nature and macro. I'm pleased with the results, sharp, nice colors, don't need much afterwork in photoshop. I must say, i set all settings in camera to neutral because i've noticed more noise in sky, even at lowest iso when even the slightest sharpening is set in camera. But then, i use it 95 % of shooting in studio, under controlled lighting setup.
Overall impression, pleased with results, not stellar, but pleased.

Ps : big improvement over the Nikon D200 i've used for almost 3 years, much more detail, and off course the higher resolution means on some sites higher prices.

I have 3 backups on external drives :
A drive with backup of the raw files; A drive with backup of the tiff files; A drive with backup of the finished Jpg file.
1 working drive, also external that is being used while working on files, it also contains all unfinished shooting sessions.
Complementary an extra external drive with all finished files uploaded and waiting to be uploaded with a folder system for the stock sites.... from this drive an update is being made on a monthly basis and is stored in a bank safe.

Just fill in the actual address where they reside, add at the bottom of the release a note with the PO box adress.

I don't believe at theory that any review process has any consistency in any agency. Since I realized that, I really don't get upset when my images are rejected. There is a crap on every agency. I could find and post here amazingly crappy images from the most respectable sites, while some very good images got rejected.
Never the less it makes me gnash, i had just 5 halloween images rejected for aesthetic reasons and see that crap above accepted and sell... !!! Patrick h.

Yes I got one too. Worded the same. As a silver non-exclusive I would be bumped to gold and would earn 2% more . . . I am skeptical about the increase in traffic but then what do I know? I asked Chad for some clarification. You need to volunteer 30+ images to qualify for the rank crank, but you do have some say in what images they select.
I'm considering it but not rushing in.
Haven't got that mail.... but if i read correctly you are saying you need to donate 30+ free images to have that rank crank.?... Looks to me they need more free images. Patrick H.

I hadnt want to post here because i had the feeling I'd missed something (especially seeing how many times we were told that it was all ok) (as it turns out I had missed the price increase) and basically didnt want to be seen to jumping around if i had . So I need to redo the figures, which depends on the package that customers buy etc. The price increase is 167% increase for small packages (I assume 10 credits - havent looked) but varies depending on the packages bought, so the average package bought may vary and hopefully there will a sales increase and the implementation is going to be staggered
I know that I as a buyer buy less if product is more expensive.. so i have my doubt the new price scheme will deliver more sales. But, only time will tell... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Patrick H.

Despite good sales yesterday i ended the day with a negative balance due to refunds... I was wondering, what is Fotolia doing after the credit card is being declined to prevent those fraudsters from using the downloaded images..?.. Patrick H.

For the most part, dreamstime is one of my favorite microstock sites for many reasons. The only trouble is with their approval rating system which I try to keep above 80%, but then get a whole batch rejected because I included a po box in the model release instead of a house address.
I know it's my fault, as I've had this problem before and I thought I got all my model releases fixed, but I guess I missed one.
The other problem is I always find it a guessing game when to upload a model release if you can't see the model's face. I couldn't see the models face so didn't include a release and was told to upload one becuase the model is the main subject of the image. The problem is I've uploaded model releases in the past with models who you can't see the face and receive a rejection stating that the model release isn't needed for this image.
Yes very irksome. Like I said though, it's MAINLY my fault.
Just had one rejected for having a model release... torso of a male swimmer.. from the knees to the neck. No model release required... Patrick H.

Hi...
Todd forgot to mention the biggest asset from the photoshop keywording tool, namely, you can save it as an xmp file by clicking on the richt upper triangle ( give it a name to recognize it and then save it as an xmp file), and reuse it for similar images by going back to the saved xmp files en clicking it...:-)

Those five down arrows represent results from june.... Patrick H.
ps : no summer slowdown for me, actually, summer months are mostly the same like other months... maybe on a few sites down by 10 %.. but not for most sites. (At least my experience for the last 5 years)

FT pay me the most because of my ranking, They sell for 200$ of which I get about 76$.
Do you get a lot of ELs at FOT? I have heard other high rank sellers say they don't charge the max allowed.
Hard to believe that having ELs set at $200 would not affect volume...?
Mine are priced at 150 $... rarely get one. On Shutterstock however always have a few each month. Dreamstime if i'm correct 2 in 5 years... that's it. Patrick H.

Please don't get sucked in to traditional vs microstock vs Subscriptions, all have a place in the market with a different core customer base, some assets are on different models at different price points, so you cannot use content and quality as a true argument, only personal choice. I only wanted that sites let me choose not to sell to the customers that want buy subs. This should be our choice, not the site's.
Totally agree.... ! Patrick H.

I am also very concerned about sales falloff. With over 4500 diverse images I am not one of the small or specialized portfolios that is generally very affected by sales fluctuations. Some of the others posting in this thread are high volume sellers too. To assume this sales drop is just affecting the mid to low level contributors would not be correct.
Same here Lisa... Patrick H.

As much as needed. This year about 70 %. Just finished setting up a new studio. On a monthly basis, cost for models, props.
Next on my to do list : new camera with high resolution to stay in the game and face the competition.
