Shutterstock.com / Re: why shutterstock?
« on: December 28, 2007, 03:01 »
It's difficult to make predictions, but the big times at Shutterstock may be coming towards an end. They used to represent 50-60% of my total earnings, but at the moment, both IS and DT is breathing down their neck. My December sales at SS this year are just 60% of those last year, although my portfolio has grown by almost 100%.

I'm finding the opposite, a year ago IS sold double the amount of SS and now it's gone the other way.  SS has caught up and overtaken IS by a larger amount every month.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Minor models...

Legally there is nothing you can do about it unless they are stating that this model is gay rather than just using the image in a general way.  A couple of my models were used on an anti gay web site which was equally disturbing but the kids themselves didn't mind as any gay friends that they have know that they don't share the views of the web site.

I understand what you're saying but I currently make between 500 and 700 $/month on IS so can't afford to give that up on a matter of principle. Even though IS earn  4 times that out of me it still pays me a lot of bills.

My 2008 goal is to keep a lower profile than I did during 2007. I enjoy sharing my experiences and participating in this community, but I think I'd be further ahead if I bit my tongue more often.

Shame, you always seem to have nice encouraging words to say for everybody and I always enjoy reading your posts.

I've got all of mine set at 100$.  I sold 3 Els with Fotolia last month.  I don't remember ever getting 3 in one month when I had it set at 10$.

Most sites have a place where you can look at best sellers or popular images.  Take a look at them to get an idea of what sells best.  Also look through magazines to get ideas of images that could be used to sell things.  Good luck  :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: STOCKXPERT PAYMENT
« on: December 19, 2007, 01:51 »
Read this thread http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?topic=3078.0 it has been discussed a lot over the last couple of weeks.  It seems that there is a problem with paypal and that it you are in a hurry and don't want to wait then cancel the paypal request and request it through money bookers and you should receive payment in 2 days.

Oh well at least the best match is working against me in a period that is quiet anyway, it would be far worse if it happened in a busier time.

Yes they did and I'm seeing exactly the opposite. :(

« on: December 14, 2007, 09:03 »

Bigstock accepts just about everything I send to them and they are doing well.  It might be because they have different images to the sites that have subjective rejection standards.
[/quote]

I've just started uploading my portfolio up to BigStock and they have already rejected 11 of my bestsellers on other sites including one that in the last 6 months has sold nearly 700 times on IS and over 900 times on SS.  Makes me not want to bother.  :(

I'm finding all sites  lower than usual this week. :(

I have hundreds of images of my children on stockexpert and everwhere else I upload to and have always signed the release my self as the parent with somebody else witnessing.

General - Top Sites / Re: "Personalities" of the Big 5 (or 6)
« on: December 11, 2007, 13:20 »
I agree 100% with GeoPappas.  I have similar images from the same shoot where one has been a best seller on DT and almost no sales on IS  and the other has been  a best seller on IS and not sold much on DT. This happens quite often with very similar images, it's more the luck of the draw which one takes off first.

If they are aware of the problem then I'm sure that they will fix it as soon as possible but site stability will be their main priority now.  Inundating them with site mails seems a bit counter productive to me.

« on: December 10, 2007, 08:26 »
I'm finding exactly the same thing.  SS great and IS slowly dying.
On SS I made 50% more this November than last November and on IS I made 50% more last November than this November.  For the last 3 months I have made considerably more on SS than IS whereas IS always used to be a clear winner.

gosh really  :o

for me it is going from strength to srength with a Portfolio of around 480 Images I had over 800 downloads and an EL last month and this month is looking good also....

It is Istock which is dying a death for me

It seems to me he has figured out something you haven't and your jealous.  Who died and made you the keyword police?

Maybe these are redhat's images as he's so defensive about them.  Anyone with a minimum of sense would could see that it is so wrong to keyword like this.

Also if somebody buys one of your files and then misplaces it they can download it again in the  24 hours following purchase.  Maybe this would show up as free.

I believe that he has just started uploading to other sites but has 100's of exclusive images at fotolia so it's not really a fair comparison.  Sorry if I'm wrong on this Chode but that's the impression I got through your other posts.  BTW Great portfolio on fotolia :)

Wow really  :o

Was tempted to say ..... you should get out more   :) :D

Seriously though so by saying it is your best seller so far  you must be at  other sites right!?

DT seems to take a little while to get going but is excellent in earnings/dl when it does.

It's a con to try and get hold of your personal information.  You don't need to do anything unless you want to report by forwarding it to paypal or the bank.

That's painful with so many good images. :(

My sales have tanked at StockXpert, too - Ack ... I'm now below $100 per month!
