In the past I have written to support to get the whole portfolio put up in one go. I am going to do it again now and get them all put to 100$ now that I know that they will sell at that price. It was done very quickly.

Adobe Stock / EL pricing on FT« on: October 03, 2007, 01:02 »
Hi, A couple of weeks ago I decided to put my El's at max of 100$ just to give it a try because I thought that if somebody really wanted a photo that they would pay it, well today I have had a 100$ sale.
![]() So don't undercut yourselves, I started off at 10$ and have gradually increased and my El sales rate stayed the same after each increase. I only sell one or two a month but I would have to have sold 10 at the original price to make the same money so I thought that it was worth the risk even if I started to sell less. Just thought that I would share that with you incase anybody is hesitant about raising their prices. 2605
iStockPhoto.com / Re: A normal day at IS?« on: October 02, 2007, 00:14 »
I had the worst month this year at istock but had a great day yesterday so hope that October will be better. I looked at last year's figures and noticed a quite big slump in September then with an amazing October and November.

I fully agree with Sharply_done. I upload to 5 sites and FT this month gave me one 8th of my total earnings.

General - Top Sites / Re: September 2007 Earnings breakdown« on: October 01, 2007, 01:20 »
Haven't done % yet but istock is way down.
It's usually level with SS but have made 50% more on SS this month than IS. Everyone but IStock is up on last month. 2609
StockXpert.com / Re: Subscription Coming Soon to StockXpert« on: September 30, 2007, 03:10 »
I hadn't thought about that but you are absolutley right. On DT I have never noticed multiple subscription sales of a similar subject whereas on SS that is the norm.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Which site to recommend to buyers« on: September 29, 2007, 19:52 »
I answered before reading it properly. I thought it meant which would I send someone to, to buy one of my images so I answered DT as I make the most out of it on average. If I was sending a friends to buy images I would send them to the cheapest site, probably FT.

One thing about DT's subscription though... more subscription sales will elevate each photo to the next selling level more quickly - maybe we'll make more in the long run on DT once each photo is promoted? quote That is exactly what is happening with me at DT. I just got a couple of sub. sales on an image which pushed it into the next pricing tier and then sold an XL for 4$. I am now quite regularly getting sales of 2$ and over. We won't be getting this advantage at StockXpert though so I think that we are going to end up losing money unless they offer us some thing to our advantage at the same time as introducing subsciption sales in the same way that DT did by putting up prices and introducing tier system. 2612

After lots of failed attempts I have managed to get just 4 images uploaded but I can't find them to finish them off. Does anybody know where to look or do they go into no-mans land until they get reveiwed and then we finish them off.
Thanks 2613
iStockPhoto.com / Re: Reduced upload limits...« on: September 29, 2007, 01:49 »Still, I would rather gamble in that lottery than having a good photo selling once or twice as micro. 25c won't buy you much anyway. A GOOD photo would sell 100's or 1000's of times as micro not once or twice. 2614
StockXpert.com / Re: Subscription Coming Soon to StockXpert« on: September 28, 2007, 16:26 »
The earnings went up since DT introduced subscription not because of the subscriptions but because they gave a substantial price increase and introduced a tier system at the same time. I'm convinced that if they hadn't done that the earnings would have gone down 2615

Are they all your images or have you included images by other photographers because you can't make a lighthbox public with only one persons images.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Did something change?« on: September 21, 2007, 04:35 »
I think it pays to be a bit selective, I'm sure that a lot of sales come from buyers browsing portfolios. If you have it cluttered with a lot of almost duplicates and not so good images then the buyer will probably give up and look elsewhere. I try to just put up the best and as soon as I get time I will go through my portfolio and delete some of the worst, non-selling images. My sales have increased enormously since they introduced the option to search portfolio and I only upload a handful of images once or twice a week at most.
PS I'm not saying that anyone here has bad images or too many duplicates but just talking in general ![]() 2620

I'm adding "... visit my gallery to see Shutterstock's largest aircraft collection", which is absolutely true.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Downloads per month« on: September 14, 2007, 23:32 »...I currently have 5 images at over 50dls/month and 10 at over 100dls/month.That's fantastic, fotografer ... way to go! [/quote] Thanks, congratulations yourself. There's a lot of luck involved in this on IS and else where. I have images that I think are much better that don't do nearly as well. One image that I have on 22.9 month (and has been as high as 50ish) I nearly didn't bother putting up as I thought it would be rejected for bad lighting but decided to put it up and then repeat the shoot and then take it down but it did so well that I left it there and the re shoot which is so much better doesn't do nearly so well. Another one that I have had as high as 40 month but went down to 9 after best match changes barely sells on other sites. It only did 3 downloads in first 3 months at DT. It's extremely difficult to predict best sellers. 2624
iStockPhoto.com / Re: Downloads per month« on: September 14, 2007, 16:58 »
The highest I ever had was 124 dls/month but in the last best match re-shuffle it slowed right down and is now at 72 but around the same time another one took off and is now at 92,6.
I currently have 5 images at over 50dls/month and 10 at over 100dls/month. 3 of them are very similar images of something that I thought of but there wasn't much of in the collection and them along with 2 more similar ones have a total of nearly 200 dls/month. I have noticed a few copies of them recently but I still have the advantage in the search because of the high downloads month ratio which seems to make a difference in the best match search. A lot of it is the luck of finding a concept that hasn't been well covered or managing to do it better. I constantly look at magazines for inspiration and have had some great ideas this way. 2625
LuckyOliver.com / Re: The LO watermark.« on: September 14, 2007, 03:33 »
I was considering uploading to them but I definatly won't until this is sorted out. I would hate to think that somebody wanting to buy one of my images would go to LO first and see if they could get a badly watermarked version free.
