Iran has a democratically elected government as far as I'm aware. The present government and their policies are the product of the settled will of the population of Iran are they not?

If those policies happen to be so against those of Western countries (also democratically elected) that said Western countries choose to not trade, and/or impose sanctions against them ... then that is essentially the choice the population of Iran made when they elected their government.

If you deliberately pursue policies against the interests of your trading partners then don't be surprised if later they choose not to trade with you.

I have no idea what the political leanings of the OP are but, for example, if he had enthusiastically voted for and cheered for the government that caused this crisis with the West ... then  it would be difficult to find sympathy for his plight.

You can't on one hand declare your hated for the West whilst on the other seek to benefit from their institutions and the opportunities they provide.

As I recall, and please do correct me if Im wrong, wasn't it the west who caused the crisis because that government of theirs is doing exact same things that our "western governments" have been doing for decades ?  Who and when gave us rights to be more righteous?

Or to get on the other question, how are "our" governments reacting to countries that openly claim  some western governments and companies are deliberately pursuing policies against their interests and choose not to trade with the west ?

Should I start listing them ?

Or even only change price of their main homeland product from one currency to another ?

And on the last, is it really difficult to find sympathy for anyone in this world ?

Yes most probably he was the one who played a role in something weird thats poking you in the eye from the headlines of corporate newspapers in those few moments we are all sharing the planet...

Cmon

New Sites - General / Re: new site stocktal
« on: September 11, 2014, 05:07 »
Hi Jack

About categories...

What you saying makes sense but.... there are more options that can make things easier for contributors from your side...like:

1) Auto categories based on keywords, lot of  sites do have that option ...or

2) Batch categorizing images which would also be a huge time saving for most if not all of contributors

Because when you are speaking about cooperative move by contributor and only 1 category click and 10 million potential images you are also taking about 10 million clicks which means thousands clicks plus scrolling for some contributors  image after image.

So my question would be...is there a chance you were planning to add such or some other options in that direction in the future because that would really be cooperative from your side and make your contributors life easier and give them more time for producing wonderful stuff ?

Thanks

New Sites - General / Re: new site stocktal

Jack,
One thing I think you should address quickly is your category system.  It is already out of hand and allowing contributors to add their own categories is a recipe for a confusing mess from the buyer side.  Of course I do not know how you use categories in the search but without some strict, ordered rules to your system I think you will quickly have a situation where the categories mean nothing.

Personally I think categories a waste of time but if you must have them they should be restricted to major divisions (food, animals, plants, people, objects, landscape, abstract)  Anything lower on the chain than that should be found using the keywords.  Categories always seem to make sense to new agencies, why I am not sure.  But after you have 10 million images what is the point?  No one is going to select a category and scroll through 100,000 images.

Another issue is the lack of a batch or bulk editing system.  If I  have 10 images that need the same category why do I have to select them all then individually change the category?  I already selected them, indicating that I was grouping them together, so all changes should be done to all images selected.  Or add a batch change function if you want to leave the current one alone.

Many of the people on MSG have been doing this for years, seen it all, seen agencies come and go.  If you want to attract 'talent' and their images you need to make things as simple as possible to contribute.  Take a look at GL Images.  FTP upload, done.  Compare that to the somewhat tedious process on your site, the amount of time I have available to spend uploading is finite.  Time spent uploading is time not shooting.

+1

Also I was advised to keep my uploads under 30 images daily and that together with setting the category image by image will take me forever to upload my portfolio there even if I have strongest will to do so.

I think I will wait and see if things will be smoother in the future because this will consume too much of my time

Im sorry because I would really like to support a site just for not offering subs if for nothing else and build portfolio on such sites so later I can pull it out from sites that are giving away my work for cents when I compensate my loss in income there if ever. :D

Symbiostock / Re: Is this project dead?
« on: August 18, 2014, 15:29 »
And look at the mentality that puts bunhill down just because he doesnt have an SY site.

I built a dummy site using Symbiostock on a LAMP server at home to look at the software.

Which points directly back to the statement I made about how people aren't sheep. Maybe people aren't jumping on the SY wagon because ITS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE.

OK, I got work to do. Enough of this madness.

So you are indirectly calling the ones that jumped in and still believe in the project "sheeps" ?  Is that not a direct insult even if you are right ?

Most of your posts dont include single argument and it seems to me you are just one person who magnetically try to trash somebody's efforts down because things are not in the way you imagine them...

Judging by trends at few sites we are reaching the point where contributors will be charged for their sales.

Most probably the explanation will be something like ... " we are heavily helping you to promote your work with our sales"  ;)

Niakris you are wrong. Nobody can be fooled about the authors. We no longer live in the era of Soviet lies and there are too many independent sources to know the truth.

We do live exactly in era of lies even worse than ever before.  EU is being lead by bunch of liars who have never been elected by nobody, that cannot be removed by nobody  in exact same way that ex USSR used to function.

And peoples " right "  to vote is actually an obligation because any legal way to renounce that right and to get yourself deleted from voters list will lead a person nowhere.

About this case, one can only have opinion as both sides had motive to shoot an civil airplane down to make the other side look even worse and Im really sad that normal people like in that airplane are paying the price of political madness and conglomerate greed standing behind them witch are leading this world officially.

My condolences to all families and friends of people who were aboard

It doesnt have anything to do with being an "ungrateful whiner." Some of us are business persons. I purchased most of the SY stuff. In return, I expected a wordpress theme and software that did what it was marketed to do. I have Facebook for the "friends" stuff. And some of the people I have met in business are also "friends" on Facebook. Most of the people I do business with are not.

Leo had a choice of what he wanted to sell things for. I don't know of many businesspeople who do things "out of the goodness of their heart" without getting something in return. Even the millions of dollars Bill Gates gives to foundations and scholarships provide him tax shelters, etc. Is he doing good? Yes. Is it benefitting others? You bet. But it still isn't without benefit to Gates.

- Some of us are firstly humans before other attributes...

- I know about  fellow human directly responsible you are reading this ( Nikola Tesla ) who did things directly out of the goodness of his hearth.

- Could he become richest man ever ?  You bet.

- Did he died poor ?  Yap...and by his choice, no bad business decisions involved , just for pure benefit of mankind , as for you or for me or even for that greedy Bill Gates you are mentioning.

- Can any businessman stand next to that human and share equal respect from any conscious human being or claim world has benefited more from him ?

- You can safely place your bet on the opposite to your opinions.

So I deeply believe thinking and living mainly like a businessman can only make you doubtful about  any good intentions you run into on your way because anyone is competitor and that makes him an enemy. Everybody are after your cut and you can trust nobody...

Humans are something else

24c is what you get after 30% US withholding tax has been deducted from your US subs sales because you live somewhere other than the US, unless there is a special treaty arrangement.

That could be it  ;) didnt thought of that , was thinking that that happens before I request payout like on most other sites.

I don't understand your numbers - why are all the subscriptions $0.24? I thought it was a flat $0.35 for every file (except for the $2.00 short/limited/whatever special ones).

Yes, about half of them are o,24$  lately and half 0,35$ and don't get that either.

Isnt there any official list of what we are getting out of what on DT ?

Just read other topic mentioned, and more or less it was left  on wondering point if Im not missing something ?

Dreamstime.com / 0,09 per credit ?
« on: February 05, 2014, 15:26 »

I haven't really checked commissions and stuff lately on any site ( avoiding headaches ) but today I noticed a sale that got me thinking...

1,86$ earned on  20 credits sale ?

So that would be 0,09 per credit ?

Then on the other hand I had credit sales bringing much more %, so on what does that depend and why so much of a difference ?

« on: February 05, 2014, 12:29 »
You can get it dirty in a second so time shouldn't be a factor...  :)

You can clearly see sensor dust so I deeply believe thats what it is...

But now days that's not a huge problem, try to blow that away sometime it works, if not buy sensor swabs and Eclipse cleaning fluid for your sensor and clean those spots alone. better to learn it now than spend fortune at service places...

Some lenses tend to pull more dirt , mostly zoom lenses and make sure to read tips on how to change lenses... when u do it in some conditions u cannot avoid dirt

When you realize that you are putting twice of the effort for keeping the earnings steady or you get 10% more of earnings out of it and you put the blame on your efforts and promise yourself to try harder and start investing the time that belongs to your family, friends and cut your dog for 50% of his walks.

When you take your last 10 sales a cumulatively you are lacking few cents for pack of bubble gums.

When you start inventing jokes about it and realize that reality itself is funniest joke you can think of.
