Imagine one of those beast's farts? Then imagine dozens of those beasts farting after a hearty feed. That's some serious gas being pumped into the environment.
Fun fact: when the poop, they wag their tails like crazy to spread it around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-jXMeo4a4k

(the mosquito kills more people)
<pedant mode> Anopheles mosquitoes are the unwitting vector of the malaria parasites, and it's the latter which can kill us or make us ill. More info than you probably ever wanted to know: https://www.cdc.gov/malaria/about/biology/index.htmlBut indeed, when my pupils asked me what the most dangerous animal I'd seen on my safaris was, I always answered 'mosquitoes', before numbing them with the qualification.

Title should be altered to reflect that the hippos in question are not in their natural distribution range.
OP in the typical Internet bait headline, we should be used to that after being pounded with them, all day, every day.
But a small fact: The hippo is responsible for more human fatalities in Africa than any other large animal. (the mosquito kills more people) Male hippos actively defend their territories which run along the banks of rivers and lakes. Hippos can run at speeds of over 20 miles an hour and they have enormous jaws which host up to 20 inch canines.
Right, Escobar's hippos are a threat because they aren't there naturally.
More than that, if a hippo is out of water grazing, and you get between them and water, they might panic about their escape route being cut off and charge you. You get reminded constantly if you're staying at a lodge where the hippos graze on the lawn at night.

Even if images are placed under Rights Managed, Alamy is allowing lots of freedom to the buyer. Wonder if these "In perpetuity" licenses mean Alamy is going to ditch Rights Managed altogether?
That was one of several questions which I emailled to the MD at the time of this year's contract change. It was the only one she did not address.

Whatever, Fb is up now as are Ig and WhatsApp. And although I got a message from Ig that they couldn't connect me, I've had some comments and likes over the past hour on the image I was trying to upload.

Ha! I just wasted time twice trying to send an Insta post, trying to figure out why I couldn't and assuming it was my fault! Why do I always assume that?!

Have you already taken this up with their support team? If so, what did they say?

The stock companies have been misinterpreting copyright laws for a long time. Hopefully some day they will start reading the copyright laws properly instead of what they have been doing.
Hopefully, some day you will accept the benefits of having your own agency, raking in the profits from the highly desireable (you think) photos the agencies won't accept, while accepting the risk (which you don't believe exists). That would save you the effort and time of posting your hypotheses here, which is pointless. Have fun.

Absolutely not allowed. Prohibited by section 10 of the DP license agreement. What is the site?

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant. https://www.andreacatton.co.uk/2016/08/owns-tattoos-tattoos-uk-copyright-lawhttps://copyrightalliance.org/education/qa-headlines/tattoos-copyrighthttps://theconversation.com/explainer-who-owns-the-copyright-to-your-tattoo-142825https://abj.artrepreneur.com/who-owns-the-copyright-in-your-tattoo-art You can disagree with that all you like, but as I've said to you before, it's their ball, their game. If they want to reject photos of blades of grass or random stones, they can. And they are, understandably, risk averse. For all they know, the tattoo itself may be a copyright infringement. If you want to knock yourself out, accepting the risk of selling content which the major agencies won't accept, go ahead and set up your own website. There isn't much point in whining on msg. The stock site lawyers probably never look in here.

Sue, after creating an account, I can access the forum. But my message has not been approved so other members cannot see it.
I've never heard of that: my posts go live as soon as I write them whether new threads or posts in other threads. Must be new, or some mistake.

For real?
I would have appreciated honest communication and prompt action.
By the way, Sue, I did open a forum account to bring this matter to the attention of management. I particularly asked for a contact person.
But my message has been pending for approval since August 20. It does not look like it would get approved.
Oh, I didn't realise you had to be approved for the forum. I thought you were automatically accepted for the forum if you are a verified contributor. They do allow critical posts. There were several posts about the payment issue, there are threads about the recent rate cuts and contract terms (now locked following hundreds of posts), and lost of individual posts complaining that they get more $$ and their service is poor. I myself have two recent threads about them not chasing up infringments. However, maybe with the red mist, maybe your posting was worded 'in the heat of the moment'. You can find the MD's email in the first contract change thread. I emailled her about the removal of benefits to exclusive images, and she (or a minion!) replied quickly.

Another wall hanger licensed today...let's see what Alamy CR will say...
Just received the following reply from Alamy:
"We have no reason to believe this is being used outside of the terms of the licence. If however you do have proof that it has been, let us know and we can then investigate."
Standard answer, as you know. Still, they could hardly go after a buyer without proof of use outwith the licence purchased. I wonder what use is being made of it, given that PU sales tend to be better earners, at least for me, than many 'regular' sales. This morning I wrote them my third email about an unreported sale from September. First contact form sent when I found it on 11th June. Answer: "We'll ask the customer's account handler to look into this and we'll get back to you." Second email sent 19th July: "Any word on this yet? I wouldn't have thought it would be difficult to chase up given thatthey have an "account handler". Alamy's answer: "We've just chased our colleague about this - apologies for the delay. We'll get back to you once we have an update." This morning's email from me: "Another month has passed, and this image has STILL not been notified or paid for. You need to move much faster. What is your extra 20% doing for us?" Waiting for the reply. PS: note that a sale I should have got 50% on will now net me 40% (what they've said to others who have asked).

Last month my worst month since July 07. This month much better, but not in any other sense 'good'.

Like Falantus said, is the agency you put the image on a partner of Alamy?
Have you checked to see if your file is on the Alamy website (do a search). That would show whether your file is there legitimately via a partner seller or if someone else is claiming it as their own (I'm not sure if I've ever heard of that on Alamy, but presumably it sometimes happens.)
If a partner, be aware that it can take months for a file to show up as an Alamy sale, then more time for the money to clear, then it will need to be processed through your agency.
Finally, it is slightly possible that it's an honest mistake by the user. I happened to find one of my files on a book cover with a SS credit. I couldn't actually find it on SS, but I sent a pleasant email to the (very small) publisher to enquire. They contacted the designer and it was a honest mistake, they had a valid iS licence, but somehow had credited it as SS. The publisher was very apologetic.

Wow, there is a fraud!
I managed to find out how to get into the webpage for the method of payment.
It was switched to "bank account transfer". My email address was removed.
What shocks me is that Alamy did not send me an email to tell me about the change.
They're having a lot of IT problems at the moment. I presume you've contacted Support already. Let's hope it's incompetence rather than malice (fraud).

Mine hit my bank account on the 5th.
Not sure how you change it, there's a tab 'account settings' on your dashboard, I'm not sure if that would do it.

Wow... things are getting worse. Adobe has given a keyword to people who paid this course (stockeros1, https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=stockeros1), so those contributors can add this keyword to their pictures and this way Adobe can find them easily and promote them more frequently to increase their sales.
How do you know: 1 Adobe gave them that keyword? 2. The keyword is to let Adobe promote them above others? Isn't it possible (I don't know, I don't submit there) for anyone to make up a keyword and add it to their images? If so a group of people could use a specific made up keyword so that they can use it for external marketing or for any other purpose. Still, Mat is usually faster at getting back with answers, so the ball's still in his court.

i spoke to them, seem genuine, but whatever, everybody has made their mind up on the back of a russian youtube video, lol
Is 'Russian YouTube video' code for something I'm not hep to? Otherwise I've no idea what you're talking about. I haven't made up my mind. I'm just saying they have done, said or shown nothing which engenders any confidence. We've (mostly) all been bitten before by much more credible players.
