Image Sleuth / Re: THIEF ! on Shutterstock...
« on: July 25, 2017, 19:49 »
One of my images is in Pincarel's Shutterstock and Dreamstime portfolios.  Glad to see Shutterstock take quick action.  I also wrote Dreamstime.

Ummm..  can you see unsold images in the lifetime sales (top earners) sort like SS used to show?

Looks like the newspaper is trying to sell prints without an extended license.

I like Graphic Converter 9 for browsing and organizing.  No import or export needed.

Current photo licensing terms appear to be unlimited everything forever.  That seems to include print on demand merchandise items.  Hopefully they will add or clarify extended license terms soon.

I haven't logged in to Istock in like 7-8 months or so..

Now I did it. Where do you find reports about individual sales? I see some monthly graphs only.

I can't even see my current balance or all time earnings

no more stats like the old days.  They send you a monthly report, that's it.

I see monthly earnings, but no number of dowmloads.
Where should I find my uploaded images? What if i want to delete something? Or just want to know what sells?

They no longer allow contributors to delete their own content.  You have to write support and have a legal reason for a image to be removed.  It's the main reason I no longer upload to istock/getty.

I'm eagerly looking forward to contributing editorial content when "a broader contributor program for editorial content" is available.

Thanks to Mat for letting us know about policy changes.  Wish other agencies communicated as clearly.

Having the ability to edit and polish my portfolio is important to me as an artist.  So important that I stopped uploading to istock when they removed the contributor upload delete function.  Maybe they'll change the policy some day... meanwhile I'm working full time supplying new content to their competition.

But few sites that will accept them.

I like Danny Boyle's use of vertical clips in his montages.  I can see where they might be useful.   What sites take them?

I opted out.  But I'm curious if pond5 editorial content will find it's way to Adobe/Fotolia?  Also curious if duplicate content will be filtered.

what is the problem to delete these images? are the 38 cent per sale worth the anger?

Lost production cost is unfortunate but if I had disgruntled models in my portfolio I would eagerly remove them.

It's unfortunate for the photographer who did everything right but there's no upside for an agency to host photos of a mental model.  They are overflowing with content.

PhotoDune / Re: What a "nice" surprise

Yep, mines finally gone.  Crazy, since they solicited ME and uploaded my whole port for me a couple of years ago.  I was still making good sales, even last month, for a site of their size.  At least it was their time wasted getting my port online and not mine.

And I don't get this with artists like you.  I am more of a ham n egger and they kept me.....I fully expected to be dumped and may indeed dump myself.  But the talent that they unloaded baffles my mind.

Some very talented artists were removed.  Perhaps other factors (tax policy complainers) were considered in the cull.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Impossible accept/reject rates

Here is the link to my portfolio:

www.shutterstock.com/video/gallery/MotionWorks-Film-Studio-4312687/

(if you say 'hey those are videos...' - please be aware that at the end of every video I shot, I then took a still at 4k resolution, so basically the technical quality and artistic value of the shots you see in the link are exactly the same as the stills I submitted)

I think if 99% of the portfolio is accepted at Istock, surely only 1% acceptance rate at Shutterstock is beyond any reasonable logic?

Some agencies will take frame grabs and cell phone shots.  Others insist on full frame and raw processing.  Does your 4K camera have a smaller chip or is it full frame?

Lots of empty portfolios on their "top authors" list.  Strange company.

« on: April 01, 2017, 19:56 »
they want a really good reason or they will not delete them.

The reason should be that we are the owners of our images and we are the only ones to decide.

Removal of the ability to edit my portfolio is the number one reason I no longer upload to istock.

I would love to see a stocksy co-op style site for all.  Not just the chosen (admittedly talented) few.
Wouldn't work. If you want to have higher prices you have to have the best content.

I think artists should control their own pricing.  Tomatoes should be priced like tomatoes.  The "best content" should demand more.  Exclusivity should be optional.

I would like to see a big tent co-op that would compete with the mega libraries.  Stocksy has the boutique artsier than thou angle covered.

The last agency that boasted the income potential of GIFs was Revostock.  Hope things turn out better for Motion Elements.
