General Stock Discussion / Re: April '14 results

SS quite OK, DT excellent, FT & 123 pretty poor & IS above low expectations

It can take a few days

Maintaining the #2 position.  Fraction of SS sales but a rpd of $3.50 this month keeps them within shouting distance.

I'm sure some do manipulate the poll but I also believe the IS exclusive figure.  However as Chromaco said and as I've pointed out previously, it's a skewed number because it's a different constituencey

subs shmubs - returns from credit sales on IS these days are not that far from sub royalties anyway

Haven't had a reject there since Feb 2013, sales volumes are lower than FT for sure but approx 50/50 split between subs and credit sales and the credit sales average is 4 or 5 times that of FT so, even with less sales, there are better returns.  Also, DT are, relatively speaking, pretty fair to contributors - at least, much more so than FT or IS.

Even with deepmeta, there is NO worse upload experience than IS in the top 5 MS sites if you use ftp.

I think she's referring to April...

Folks always interpret "composition" as meaning rules that have to be followed when, really, it's about whether something is aesthetically pleasing.  So, it might be simply be that the reviewer didn't like the picture.  Making no judgement about the work here which I haven't seen, just suggesting an a possible explanation of why an isolation might get a comp rejection.

309
I sell reasonable volumes of pngs on DT but virtually always a sub (the exception a rare EL) - none of these delivers extra commission.  Possibly these are sales I wouldn't have made otherwise but who knows?

I just got a .29 sale on DT,  strange as subs are .35?

Extra small for a low level image is often less than a sub

....and $0.35 for a level 3 TIFF? :-\
Still better than a sub most places.  I dont have much of a problem with this (except in so far as sub prices suck generally) as I havent provided anything extra.  Same sub prices for addition format on the other hand

If I was clawing back, I'd do it in the middle of PP reporting and nobody would see an earnings drop  8)

312
I have 2 pending since october  :D  I'd raise a ticket but, for some strange reason, lack sufficient enthusiasm

When all is said & done, other people care a lot less about anything we have to say than we think they do...

... Customers are not so much interested in "the best content", they want "suitable content within our budget"...

Good definition of "fit for purpose"

Ah, not a post about lobo then...

316
To be fair, they did (eventually) produce the required explanation and breakdown of the amounts.  If they indicated this was coming back when the error was announced originally, they would have avoided much of the contributor anger  ???

I still haven't sold anything with FAA.  Think I'll dump them, as I get some sales on several other art sites.  Might as well spend the time working on sites that make me money and don't charge for their services.  This is the third time I've paid a site and ended up losing money.  Don't see much point in carrying on with that.

What he said.

Seems you have to make efforts to market your stuff there and, in my view, that is what the sites are for.

Nope - Probably could get daily payouts on DT  ;D

So long sine last payout couldn't remember how slow - extraordinary in this day and age that anyone needs a week to set up a payment run (DT pay same day as request usually)

Requested payment on 27 Feb and it seems there was a paypal transfer on 3 March according to their schedule but no money - is this normal?

How many of those who lost the 50% did anything besides moan when 123 pulled the RC stunt?  Reality check: some people would lose enthusiasm to produce but the rest would continue on as it would still produce the best return.  "When you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow"

But hardly anyone will have received most of its revenue from 123RF. 123rf has always been an agency, where sales were only a small part of the whole cake.

Exactly and, for this reason, much less likely that action would be taken.  Mind you, I would be more than surprised if SS did something like this as they do seem to see the value of having  happy suppliers.

323
I'd moan but, otherwise, nothing.

better hope Shutter isn't reading this one!

The RPD for those 2 months was a complete aberration so I accept there were overpayments so just another example of utter incompetence.  This is made worse by the absolute refusal to communicate a root cause or to provide details of the transactions involving overpayments (data must exist or they couldn't have calculated individual claw backs), adding a PR fiasco on top of the accounting fiasco.

I certainly don't envy Lobo being wheeled out to take the  abuse and defend the indefensible.  To misquote Blackadder, "Submitting to IS is like a broken pencil" (pointless)
