You can do well probably, just remember you have to do a lot of hard long and good job in keywording.
And money will not suddenly rains, it will take months and years, meanwhile you should feed the beast day by day

302
I found my portfolio too there  >:(
Maybe they are partner of some agency, but I've never gave permission to offer use for free

303
re: privacy - difference here is agencies supposedly keep that information private. this one tags every single image with your name (not pseudonym, according to their site).

Sorry but I missed this point. Where is written this?

And right on their site they do say they tag every image. Not a hash. But the actual details. And have your personal ID to back it up. And so yes - someone can look at your wallet, trace it, and see precisely how much you earn.

I don't understand.
If someone can see that an image is mine (like easily can be done now, as a lot of editor write the author and the agency where image come from...) how can this give access to my wallet? No I'm sorry this is not true. What can be see is only that a specific image, from a specific contributor, has been used for specific place. None knows how much the image has been payed, how many times ecc ecc
If this would be true it could kill the business in less than a second.

For the market site - while yes it is true they are interested in transactions - they are more interested in the 'velocity' of transactions. They don't care if you make money or not - what they care about is you buying/selling/buying/selling their coins. And because the price of the coin will most likely be volatile just like bitcoin, etc - you'll have a coin one day worth $200, and the next day worth $50, so a photographer say with 100 coins might think "cool! I'm rich, 100 * 200 = $20,000". And then the next day, those same 100 coins only worth $5,000. And you'll most likely get more panicked photographers, so more likely to sell then say try and hold.

For what I have understand they choose their own cryptomoney, and not (for example) bitcoins exactly not to fall in this volatile

304
Thanks, very interesting.

A couple of points:
I don't see any privacy problem, no more that the ones you could have in traditional agencies that own your ID card, transactions, earnings history ecc.
I don't believe your data will be digitally printed in every image, there should be a "pseudo" name with a unique hash, and after this noone can look in your wallet to see how much you earn.
That means probably a little more privacy than traditional agencies.

Other point: if they get 15% of every transaction, it means that is in their interest to push the market side, because they will earn more. So I don't believe that the business is only or mostly for financial reason, if it would in this way there could be simply no fees and 100% for authors (according to you, the company will be however very rich)

If other companies will arrive lowering their fee to 10% or 5%, well this is only a good news for us: it's exactly the opposite of what happens from years, where agency gives to contributors less and less

The universally unknown WMK is not easily converted and the need to trade in Crypto is just one more obstacle to getting your $$$. 80% of ICO are scams. I won't put a pixel into anything that is not tried, true, and tested.

They offer crypto currencies to pay.
if you don't like this don't apply, where is the problem?
It's not an obstacle it's a choice.... Crypto currencies can be changed in usd or euro or whatever you want.
Every month I change my earnings I euros, so?
They are not an agency and change different coins is not their job, exactly what all (majority) of agencies do, paying in dollars. After all is up to you to change, or not?
So this is really not the point.

How do I "control where and when my work is used" if it is an RF license?  And if it is just that I write my own license, how is that different from any other self hosted shop.  Like Photoshelter (again), I have my own license.  I'm also not constrained to any price and I can offer discounts.  So, again, you're not telling me anything groundbreaking here.
OK, please explain to me in words of one syllable how the blockchain stops thieves from lifting legitimately purchased files from the websites they were purchased for, which is how most thefts occur.
And isn't this just a Wemark ledger?  What if I want to join another blockchain site.  Don't I have to reupload everything into their ledger?

Ok guys, I'm not the expert one :-) And I'm also not english native language so please forgive me for my poor explanations!

Anyway:
As i said, once more, there are a lot of thing to be cleared and I have no answers about licenses.

Sean, if photoshelter is good for you, it's up to you, it's your choiche, I don't work for wemark and I don't want to convince you what is the best for you.
I'm simply saying that I think this will be a big change in the market (future)

Shadysue, the reason is simply that you digital property is inside a distribuited database and none else can can claim the property. Now you have to ask to the agency to control this, in the blockchain structure everyone can know who is the legitimate owner and if they want to use it they have to pay you and only you.
OF COURSE this is valid only for files in the blockchain. Outside it there will still exist thieves. This is a great reason to drive your content in blockchain structure (IMO).

Sean, wemark ledger simply doesn't exist. Ledger is public and everyone can access it. All the net validate your content and your transaction, Wemark (or anyone else) don't do this job.
So, you don't put your content in "someone else" ledger, you put your content in public distribuited ledger that anyone can access and control.

Ok, it's not so simple, and as I have to underline I'M NOT AN EXPERT!
This is what I understood, reading something about the blockchain structure.

My faith goes to the general idea of distribuited ledger, I'm not promoting one or other site/network.
Feel free of course to get info, I'm interested in new opinions! :)

But this is really the new business model that everyone is asking for.

What's new about it?  They host the image, they take a cut when you sell an image, the buyer gets an image.  I'm not seeing anything groundbreaking here, aside from the bookkeeping behind the scenes. Like I said, I get a better rate on Photoshelter for the same thing.

What is new is inside the blockchain system.
You will have no more need to put your transactions in a middle centralized ledger. You can control where and when your work is used, no more thief no more search around the web.
The blockchain give you the key, exactly as you work as an agency by yourself. You have a decentralized database, and, just to give you an example, none will be able to costrain you to lowering price or put your work in "special discount offer".
This is a great (and, I think) revolutionary business model, far far away from any other agencies model.

Of course, as I said before, there are many things that have to be cleared, and I haven't knowledge to find all the answers I would like to have.

After years reading many asking for new solutions, new business model and new actors in the market, I don't understand why so many people don't give credit to this offer.

For sure there are many things that have to be cleared, for sure it starts with zero buyers, for sure it will take years to take off.

But this is really the new business model that everyone is asking for. Maybe wemark will not win the race, but this model it's the future so I'll give a try
For sure I don't think I'll become rich in few months 😁

309
I'm quite sure that it will take many years to takeoff
but ?m also sure that it's the future, and I'm really interested to understand more about this!

Better to choose one platform, or upload to any or all of these? In the next years there will be dozens of platforms

310
I have identified a great method, leading to many more sales, but I'm "brutally honest": this is not something I share with my competition  ;)

Is this positive enough?  :D

This is what I call hit below the belt  ;D

311
I don't buy in to the 'cap' conspiracy theory per se, but I do believe that we are victims of arbitrary search changes and, once you start to lose ground in the rankings, it's a slippery slope to the bottom.

I'm also sure that Shutterstock employ a good team of behavioural psychologists to analyse not just buyer behaviour, but also to anticipate contributor behaviour.

Arbitrary search changes are simply a natural jobs for agencies
They have to sell more images, simply.
They are working for you, for me or for anybody who is able to produce good images that sells.
There is nothing wrong in this.

I really doubt that Shutterstock or any other agency want to invest in hours and people psychologist team that analyse contributor thoughts....

Shutterstock, and others, are not "psychology". They have zillion of files and simpy want to have maximum earnings return, so they try different way. And it's exactly the same as contributors do (or should do).

if I own shutterstock, I would never think to spend money and time for a specialist psychologys team  ;-)
Believe me... more industry is big. less is worried about the base economy

They don't really care about YOU. They knows about entire world of contributors, and it's really diferent thing.

312
"Of course"? Any evidence?

Or do you just "know" that there is?

I mean it's really reasonable 😊 it would be strange if the search engines would ever simply give same answer to everyone everywhere. Too simple

But that's a different point. It's a weaker claim.

Your claim was that there were different -- presumably you mean deliberately different --  results for big buyers of images.

Why would the stock agency want to create a different algorithm for big buyers?

What's the return on that effort?

It seems logical to me, but I haven't did any test.
It seems logical that a big buyer could ask to agency for "special" or "curated" search instead of loosing hours searching on zillions of similar images.

Also for normal buyer it seems logical that some searches results change: let's say for example I'm an asian buyer and I'm searching for "women" or "people". It's logical that algorithm gives more relevance to images with "asian" in keyword. Or not?

Anyway this is only my though.

And it's a side question, not linked to your original question: in fact, there could be or not differences in search, but this is only from buyer side, not from the author side.
So, about the cap, it doesen't matter, this issue has no relevance :-)

313
We cant prove the individual capping theory because when we look our images are still there. But what if there are special algorithms for special big buyers??

Of course there is

314

Of course there is, and many other strange algorithms rules are hidden.
So what's the relationship with contributors?
If you are so good to fill the algorithms needs you'll always have a first place, sometimes with one image, sometimes with other.
These has nothing to do with the author of the image.

I'm generally speaking, not about your thoughts Millefiore, you seems really reasonable :)

315
Here's a real example, although with fictional numbers.

Lets say you have an average of about 50 downloads per day on a weekday. And that these 50 DL are from a portfolio that hasn't received new images in a while.

Then, you upload new content that does no compete with your old one, and you start selling about 10 images per day from these new images. It would be expected that you'd start to have 60 DL per day, no? At least for a while, since you've got images in the New filter and some may even get to the Popular.

Yet, what happens is that you still get about 50 DL per day, even with the 10 you get from the new content! That means that somehow your older images stopped being seen by buyers when in the previous period they sold regularly. How does this happen? And so often?

This has been happening to me. Almost half of my daily sales are from new content and my average is the same as before I uploaded them.

Is there anyone here who knows some basics of a science call Statistics? 😊

I'm reading a lot of nonsense here.
Too much nformations are missing to prove what you are saying. How many other images are added in meantime? For which reason on the earth you should think that your old 50 dl months will be reproduced forever and you simply add new dl to old dls?

This is a complete nonsense.

YES there is a cap! It's called statistics pyramid, more you go up harder is the next step and when you reach the top, that's your personal cap.

Want to double it? Just build a new pyramid, don't ask to add a stone more on the original one 😁

Sorry for my poor English

BME for me
I'm not a big seller, this is my fourth year.

Good mix of old and new images + some clips

In January I also reach third level party and after reaching it there was many good sales.

If there is a cap I'm still out of the list 😁

317
Well, make your choice :) everything is good if is good for you!

Personally I'm not a fan of cheap cheap cheap objects and the DIY methods on the market, I always found that often they don't do what I want, or they can't
Sometimes because your camera is too heavy, or may be the head you want to do additional movement is heavy...
Sometimes because the battery is so powerless that you can't use it for more than twenty minutes...

I prefer to spend more to have a solid gear, or something that gives me more variables, but it's ok, it's a personal choice

318
Nice but not exactly the same :-D
This is a simply rotator, I don't see how can you use it for timelapse with manual slider, the shootools autopan has a great way to read the manual movement on the slider and it is really good for real time video, not only timelapses

Anyway you're right, it's not cheap :-D

Unfortunately, this happens every time an agency realizes that can't do by itself the full job.
Its  job is find clients, if the agency can't do these it's never a good point

appalling week...first 17 days incredible with 5 72 dollar sale and 3 more for 42...look for best month eve,,+...then last 7 days ouch..32 dollar total.....but this site has not cap:)....i had already predicted a strong slowdown in the end just to compensate the rise in the first 17 days, but never thought something like this....only sub. today 10 sub.
unbelievable that people still think they not control the sales.
every agency has a random path, every one...shutterstock is super predictable every month.

You're simply describing what is a statistics that gives you a medium result :)

A cap?
On the other hand you should speak about a too high presence in the first middle.
It's your words... You had an out of normal great days.

Statistics could easily predict high chance of fall down in second half of the month, just to reach the medium

Sometimes this doesn't happen and it's really an excellent month. But if it's happen...
It's normal, not a cap

321
You could also take a look to autopan
https://www.shootools.com/store/accessories/14-autopan-8055687020713.html

It's not a motorized slider.... It's motorized head 😁
And it can gives very nice results! By the way, it's not really cheap, but you can use it for many different options together with a cheap manual slider
I have it and I'm happy

Shutterstock is stirring their algorithms to spread sales out among contributors.  The idea being to continue to take in money from sales, but not have to pay out as much, because no one contributor will make enough for a payout for a long time.

Shutterstock is certainly mashing up search algorithm, but I don't believe for this reason. Why should they lower the payout limit month ago?

By the way, I have just reach third level earnings in these unlucky days... 😁 listening to conspiracy I should have to be blocked before.!

(sorry for my poor English)

323
I  have D850 and I'm really happy :-)
But you should consider to buy also very good and expensive lenses to reach the best quality with this excellent body

Hi res image at Cavan = $500 each. Hi res image at Stocksy = $125, that's 4 times more per image!

So now I'm going to start a new agency, with hi res image at $1000 each.
WOW

It's useless to look at prices if you have not buyer. Comparing prices between agencies is a simple joke

325
So,
You don't even know if an extended licence has been sold....
For wich reason you asked to redbubble to remove the product????
