I couldn't see it changing anything for buyers.
but ss helps ensure that there biggest contributers are on BigStock and they are only paying for reviewing once, making BigStock more profitable.

I cant get past the thinking that this is offered now, people say yay! add 2 million images and next year we have, oh its not sustainable / need more money for marketing and it will get cut back down.

yes istock dont like raster art. I wouldnt even dream of trying to get accepted using it. After being accepted look at high (50++%) rejections for stuff that is accepted at every other agency. I know at least half a dozen people that have given up uploading raster art, now just send vectors or photos. re sales like any site, some images do great some die, usually different ones on each site

yes it was captain thunderbolt / fred ward that I meant and yes the 40% cut and lack of time is why I said thinking about it Its fast upload to 5-6 libraries that I very possibly wouldn't get into, I'd still get more than the micros and there seems a very low rejection rate, still trying to decide

From what I've seen, things like cityscapes / highly recognisable landmarks do alright (though often now seems flooded), but more specific shots there isn't enough demand ie. I have a shot of 'thunderbolts grave' basically unless you live in at best, northern nsw australia, you probably dont know who thunderbolt is . In about 4-5 years I've had 2 sales on Alamy as RF, roughly $250 and $150, to me thats about as good as I could expect, if it was on the micros I dont think I would have had many more sales (or been rejected for lack of commercial potential). I have a pile of travel shots that I really wonder what to do with. I am now thinking that I will enable all zoonar partners (except alamy as I already submit there) and upload them to zoonar as premium rf and rm. Zoonar can take their cut, I get 1 pretty easy upload and hit half a dozen macro agencies.

I found them pretty good not sure overall, but I guess 5-10%, mostly for not perfect white isolations like stockxpert I think it may be a personal bugbear for Peter

from memory, they partnered with getty, many people complained that ti was too exclusive and then they added Jupiter (whether that was because of the complaints, I dont know). I got the feeling at the time that it wasnt a popular service with many problems, but didnt look into it much.

I'm not very good at talking myself up. These successful photo artists are great at selling themselves and their photos. It definitely makes me wonder if I'm in the wrong job when I see this though. There's really nothing special about most of the photos I have seen selling for small fortunes. I need to go to BS school I also think it would be hard for a microstocker to sell photos for huge amounts of money but perhaps that could be used as a rags to riches story? Some artists sell prints for tiny amounts and they sell their originals for big fees, so perhaps it can be done.
Would be interesting to know what's the most a microsotock contributor has made selling an art photography print.
this is my problem too Peter Lik sees nature through different eyesthose which haven't been distracted by the modern world. He is often described as the most important landscape photographer alivea distinction the artist sidesteps earnestly, detached from such conventions... sidesteps but puts it on his website still another big one in Australia - "Ken Duncan - Australia's Leading Panoramic Photographer" is the title for his website, says it all. I read a while back where he talked of collection limits, that to be serious you have to limit but finding the balance of how many is always difficult. As Yuri says branding is so important

I just have a request...
The images in that portal appeared with the copyright next to my real name.
However at Veer and other microstock sites I use a pseudonym / alias....so I'd like the copyright to my "alias'.
Monica
how do you do that? I thought we were stuck at real names. wow photogenica has a shocking search engine, try green tree frog or outer space (you need hit english), if I was a customer it would be closed very quick. Chelsey, do you if being able to redo keywords is on the future agenda for veer? (I have 1000-2000 almost dead images from snapvillage days, not sure whether to delete and reupload)

Peter Lik sold a print for a million dollars

I never understood what makes an artwork get so much value.
It's art and all that stuff. Its usually one very rich individual outbidding another very rich individual. But it's nice to see photography attain such a high value, makes you wonder about the 25 cent downloads for at least a second.
longer than second

what?, glad I deleted my account. Somehow I think the priority for fixing anything on StockXpert would be absolutely zero.

my attempts at eyeballing were always crap. But I also think it depends on how good a monitor you have.
Now I have the Spyder 3 elite. I use dual monitors, the calibration is miles better than what I did manually and a little better than the cheap one. The 2nd monitor has a very slight magenta cast even after calibration. I tried dozens of times to get them the same and cant. At work I have 2 PCs each with 2 monitors. As I couldnt get the monitors the same at home I took it work to see if it did the same. On each pair of screens there is differences after calibration, one is slightly darker on one pair and one has a green tint on the other pair. So personally it does a better job than eyeball, but is still not perfect. I decided that if I bought another I'd try one of the gretag? ones instead.
Personally I'd buy a cheap one or 2nd hand off ebay because its still probably good enough and then put the extra money towards a good monitor.
