I missed that too but thought I had seen another post pledging to have monthly results posted before the 15th of each month.  It's after the 15th.  I don't see any January results.   Maybe I was wrong?

Your were wrong in believing anything they said  ;)

But I'm sure, they are sorry as heck and working night and day to resolve the problem... And if you believe that, maybe you'd be interested in this nice bridge I have for sale here?  ;D

And also to remind them to pay in time. I asked for a payment on Feb, 2nd and I am still waiting. In addition to their delay in reporting sales, this is annoying.

One of the good things of microstock in general - compared to real world clients - is that they used to pay without having to remind them over and over. But this is not happening anymore lately.

And your are going to wait a little longer... Why? Because of this little gem hidden on page 12 of this thread:

Got this late this afternoon:

"... Starting in 2011, payment requests will be processed once a month, on the last Friday of each month.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and wish you all a peaceful time during this festive season.

 Thank you.

The StockXpert Team."

But it ain't money -or its timely delivery - that's making us happy, is it?  ::) ;)

I doubt very much they are doing the testing for the last 19 months. I guess they just got some other priorities and submission mechanism remains unfinished.

Obviously some of us didn't put enough smilies in their posts  ;) :D

still no "new upload"?

I would like to have an answer too...

Come on now, guys - it's only been 19 months since the first announced it  ;)

If, no, make that when it's released, it will be the most extensively tested piece of software ever...

Surprisingly, that still hasn't happened.  Maybe because there are no platitudes to offer?

Or maybe because the thread acts as ammunition in behind-the-scenes warfare. Getty may be happy to steal $20 sales from iStock and turn them into $2 Thinkstock sales, which is a net gain for Getty, but the owners are likely to side with iStock in seeing it as a net loss.

They just locked the thread with Lobo wishing everyone a nice day.

As much as I like a good conspiracy theory, I think this was just a Getty rep who didn't know what he was talking about...

Edited to add one more link - Peebert on complaints from trad agencies [/url]about how micrsostock was ruining their business.

That one is priceless! I love Joe Gough's response...too funny!

It certainly is priceless - but you also got to appreciate the irony about who the f*ckee was then and who it is now  :P

Yes - it's live. I just celebrated it with the first X-license in ages. $25 for me instead of $31 - well money isn't going to make me happy, anyway.

No, wait, that was at that other place...  :P

It has been two months.  Has anyone seen anything about "annual payouts?" >:(

Shhhhh! Don't give them an funny ideas  :P

I would keep wildlife photos off the microstocks and put them on Alamy for example. Even more so if they show rare and hard to find animals.

I don't think too many people will be looking for a photo of an "ural owl", for example - but if they truely need one, I'll bet they are willing to pay a lot more than a measly $2.50,- (especially if the photos are as good as yours are). Put the cat, shoe and tool photos on microstocks, but a photo of an Amur tiger playing in the snow is wasted there, especially if the tiger truely is wildlife and not from a zoo as those from your competitors are...

I'm also glad that I could help to ease our customers' pain by giving them 15% off for credit purchases (>50 credits)  http://twitter.com/iStock - even when it was my agent's f*ckup and not my own...  :P

Never thought I would say this but Im seriously considering Exclusivity and with the one that gives me the best return. Cant really see any other way.

I'm with you there - the only problem being that SS doesn't offer exclusivity (yet)  ;D

On a different note: Were any changes in the subscriptions prices on FT mentioned?

Lobo (from the above mentioned thread): "There appear to be some issues occurring on the site..." - That's got to be the understatement of the year, if not the decade...  :D

iStockPhoto.com / Re: "Building too famous" rejection
« on: December 21, 2010, 02:57 »
Does anybody really know (I mean REALLY know, not received wisdom from the stock sites) if building copyright really applies to photos taken from public places, or if any architect has ever sued over a photograph of his building being used in an advert?

That's probably going to depend in which country the photo is taken and were it is published. In Germany, for example, buildings are fair game - as long as you stay on public property and don't use ladders or anything to look over walls ("Panaromafreiheit"). In Austria, which is not that far away, things are even better as also the interior of buildings is okay to photograph...

As for anyone suing: Yes, I know of at least one case ("Hundertwasserhaus") where the architect (or rather their heir) sued over selling photographs of a building.

But in the end this is not about the law, this is about the agencies covering their backsides - in the end it is always the user of a photo who has to make sure, that he isn't violating any laws.

This would have been good news for me, if they hadn't excluded news, sports and celebreties...  :(

But, no, there's way for me right there: "Again, Getty Images are the experts in these fields and we encourage people interested in news, sport and entertainment to work with them." My short career as Getty photographer would probably look something like this:

Me: "Hi, this is Ploink, could you please tell me on which FTP-server I can submit my news, sports and entertainment photos?"

Getty: "What gives you the idea that we are interested in those photos?"

Me: "The good people at IstockPhoto encouraged me to work with you..."

Getty: "Yeah, right..." - click

So, now that it's all up and running, sort-of, what were the improvements we got?

Virtually instant uploads from anywhere in the world. Automatic level correction and removal of logos etc. Automatic title, description, keywording and categories generation. Instant acceptance, and a guaranteed place at the top of the best match.

Do you mean to say you haven't noticed? They probably haven't got it working properly yet then. :-)

You forgot 100% royalties all year round - a Punctum Year, so to say  ;D

Wow, this stuff really is strong, must smoke less...
