I suggest that Corbis buy FT and kill 'em. That would simplify matters.

Tyler, wouldn't it be better if MSG users had mechanism to include referral links as signature (other than manually add them)?

I think there is such a mechanism already. To check it out please click on my signature  ;)

Responses: Fotolia : All you need to be concerned with, Warren, is what you will receive, and that has not changed. Our credit packages have changed, that is all. Your payout stays the same.

Kind regards,

it will have been a technical issue on the 1 - it must have been, while updating our website.

I have no answers for you as far as the other why why why's. We update our website sometimes, we change prices sometimes. We create new products sometimes. Why? Because we decide to :)

Kind regards,

Unbelievable arrogance, this is extremely unprofessional. I have never seen anything like this. I'm stopping uploads there.
They suck as business partners and they suck as human beings.

The sole purpose of Internet Explorer, its destiny and its raison d'tre is to download Mozilla Firefox or Opera.
Internet Explorer fulfils this purpose well.

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock.com is down?
« on: December 30, 2009, 12:49 »
It's such a nice site, and tightly edited collection (and yes uploads and everything else works fine for me).
Other than having very high standards, and putting current payment problems aside I don't really see what crestock has done wrong?

Apparently their profit margin was also very tight. Too tight.
Hopefully their business model will prove unsustainable and they won't drive commissions down in the market anymore.
High standards and low commissions - do they deserve to survive?

They do have a very good-looking interface, but their business model sucks big time.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: How much do you like Istockphoto?
« on: December 29, 2009, 13:22 »
Mine is 1.46 for 2009. In 2008 it was 1.26.
It depends on the subject matter, I guess.

Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / Re: Strange problem
« on: December 27, 2009, 01:01 »

Is there anything like a maximum file size the computer can handle?  I'm using Win XP Home, if it matters, and the camera saves in AVI.

Windows XP uses FAT32 file system, I believe the maximum file size is 4 GB.
How do you transfer the file?
I would try another method (card reader or a USB cable). One of them might be faulty.

Distracting background, the hand seems to be detached from the body, lighting could be improved
The overall composition is not very good

I recommend shooting again

Who has had multiple sales? :)

Crestock.com / Re: For those impatient with Crestock
« on: November 06, 2009, 20:33 »
Meanwhile, to Tom, I agree with you they appear to be dead, but they weren't when I started there and until Sept. I was getting my payouts regularly.  So I see no hypocrisy in having uploaded there for over two years and now complaining when they don't pay me.

Lisa, complaining about not being paid is fine and perfectly understandable, but it is also important to draw the conclusions.

Crestock.com / Re: For those impatient with Crestock
« on: November 06, 2009, 20:18 »
I think (I might be wrong) that a lot of photographers have a gripe with crestock because they only accept images that are nothing short of perfect, and hence most of their images are rejected (that includes most of mine too!). For me crestock stands out as the site where it's impossible to find any mediocre images, every image stands out, and I hope (and believe) that in the long-run that will work - think of the buyers.

I never signed up with Crestock after reading so many negative opinions about them.

Tight quality standards are fantastic as long as the agency pays reasonable prices for this quality. Supplying premium quality to an agency that pays some of the lowest rates in the industry and doesn't have a big turnover is simply economic illiteracy. Only possible in the crowdsourcing model, in the real world such business would not survive long because  it doesn't deserve to.

Yeah, it will sure work for the buyers  ;D , not for the photographers though.
As long as the agency doesn't set the prices too low, because they might not be able to cover the costs.
AFAIK Crestock is from Norway, I presume the costs of running a site there are relatively high, at least higher than in many other countries.
If you set the prices too low and don't have sufficient volume, it means you have a problem...

I don't know if that's the case with CS, but anything that will cause their customers to migrate to 123 or DT will be a positive development.
0.36 is better than 0.25.

Crestock.com / Re: For those impatient with Crestock
« on: November 06, 2009, 16:53 »
If they could kindly disappear from the market that would be very good news for photographers.
The buyers would move to better sites and the photographers would earn more for the same photos.
I can't understand why folks upload there, support them  ??? :-\ :P and then complain... ;D

123RF / Re: 123rf culling images
« on: October 26, 2009, 16:42 »
Recently they have rejected several of my shots stating that a property release was required.
They used to accept similar images in the past with no problem, so I thought it was a glitch or the wrong button pushed, but apparently not.
Very well, I guess the buyers will have to go to DT, IS or SS...

New Sites - General / Re: New SWISS Stock
« on: October 21, 2009, 15:04 »
I reckon Swissstock will focus on images taken in Switzerland or related to this country, as for example: www.dietz.ch.
Not exactly my niche, but I assume that OgR has an impressive portfolio of Swiss landscapes/ cityscapes since he is so interested and so eager to contribute even before the site has launched. :P
