If you are interested to increase your incomes
Do you have a guarantee on that?
oh come off it, no agency guarantees anything, so why would you look for guarantes from them, you've been shafted at istock and alamy a zillion times, you're still with them
Yebbut both were much better when I joined up. I wouldn't voluntarily join an agency which looked dodgy. Twice bitten, thrice shy. They're making no effort to be transparent or prove that they're not heisters. You've been round the block as much as the rest of us and know what total lulus have been on here tryng to encourage us to join. How many have been worth the effort? Answers on the head of a pin.

And after weeks of patience this is the answer oh these *insult removed* : ...
If you misrepresent that material is infringing, Shutterstock may terminate your Shutterstock account, or you may face other legal consequences.
...
Why don't they* do that to actual infringers also? And publicise that they're doing it?
*And all the other agencies/distributors.
... Imagine the other way... I file a complaint, the account is shut down, while it's investigated. Would you like that? Guilty and convicted without any sort of fairness and trial? So the problem is, SS must have too many complaints stacked up and they are slow to complete the due diligence, before they can terminate someones source of income.
What's obvious for us, on the surface, has more complicated, legal implications. And they can't just close an account because of an accusation.
That's not what I meant. They're saying they may take legal action over false accusations, to discourage people from making them. Why don't they also take legal action over proven image theft? (to discourage people from doing it) I found on of my BSs on iS on Flickr with some bloke claiming copyright. When I filled in the form to make a complaint, it said they would send the accusee my email address, which I thought was bizarre (but I sent a potentially throwaway addy). No word back, but there's a blank where the photo was and a note that it's under investigation for copyright infringement. (Maybe linking to my image on Getty scared them, or maybe it's automatic, but was blanked within 24 hrs.) This guy's whole port appears to be 'lifted', some with accreditation, most (that I checked) not.

You could actually extend the argument and say does a customer really need to have an exact specific image or would they just look for the cheapest image that satisfied their needs?
Depends on the customer. You can see in the end results, printed or online, that some go with the cheapest, or satisfice with one from the outlet where they have a subscription. Or maybe time is money: for example some Alamy buyers only look at one page, some scroll through thousands of images to get what they want. For higher end buyers, it's better to more closely match what they need, even if it means paying more.

LOL, after I posted the initial message, the cleared balance appears to be normal today.
Sue, the only photography forum I participate is this one.
Fairy Nuff; but you don't need to participate, or even sign up, to join the Alamy forum, it's open for all to read.

Yes, I had a beef about adobe when they rejected all my lot of photos for tech reasons when it should have been for I. Property. I wanna leave there as well because I don't photograph people and ther's not many things you can shoot without the I.P. violations.
IP is agency/distributor-independent. If some agencies don't inspect/check for IP issues (e.g. Alamy), or are very lax on IP compliance (e.g. SS), that puts you at more risk. You'll find in every contract that you are liable for IP issues, whether or not they inspect. Caveat vendor.

Someone download my bestseller and resell it at Etsy. I report for infringement. Etsy took it down. Now the thief counter claim it. Etsy says they cannot take side. Etsy says "Unless you notify us of a court action seeking a court order against the allegedly infringing member, the member may reactivate or repost the material specified in the counter notice". I am determine to take a court order, but how can I do it?
I hope you, the infringer and Etsy are all in the same country or it will be extremely expensive. Good luck.

Their Terms of Use says, inter alia, "Except as permitted in the paragraph above, you may not reproduce, distribute, display, sell, lease, transmit, create derivative works from, translate, modify, reverse-engineer, disassemble, decompile or otherwise exploit this Site or any portion of it unless expressly permitted by us in writing" so presumably they have some knowledge of copyright, so although a DMCAmerica probably has no validity, you might try writing to them directly with your evidence. Worth a try, anyway.

Does it ever happen that someone sells an entire portfolio or even part of it? I have never Sard of such a thing. An interesting idea, th ough.
Someone did it this very week via the Alamy forum, or at least it's 'under offer', and went under offer very quickly after it was posited. The general opinion was that the OP had undervalued their port. I don't see it now, maybe the thread was removed ...

I've given up trying to understand the stats. I get different amounts on TodayIs20, and on iStock itself. (which I tend to put down to Connect sales) Also the amounts reported on Deep Meta is often way different from either of the others. Which may be down to the way they work out subs sales (?) As it happens, the amount iS said I had for May was the exact amount paid into my PayPal a/c, which certainly isn't always the case. Earlier this evening I was looking at the discrepancies over the different reports and trying to reconcile them, but failed totally.
Smoke and mirrors.
Did you get more money to go with your doubling of downloads? Oh yes, I'm now showing as exactly twice the downloads and exactly twice the $$, to the cent. But I already got the paypal payment with the original number. I'm guessing it's some sort of blip. Their coders aren't the most ept on the planet.
I see nothing about it on the forum at the moment. Maybe you were first to notice. I guess most of us don't usually download a statement twice!
Yup, both downloads and money doubled up, that's how I reached cashout and was surprised by Paypal and invoice emails. I still have the old .txt file from the first report, I ran them both through Todayis20 and it is what it is, one is double the other. Guess it's just a common IS, this time it's good news thou
Wow! You got the doubled amount?! I just got the original total.

Tangentially, I want to know the answer to a simple question: If Sean Broihier is such a whizz programmer, why, (oh why, oh why) on earth has he still, after all these years, not managed to allow: 1. Lower case on selected words in the title, like Turdus merula 2. Upper case initial letters in keywords, like Scotland? I'd have thought he must have somehow coded it in to alter the case as we enter it. It just looks really uneducated on the page. Embarrassing.

Dear all, Can someone explain me why I cannot delete some of my approved picture? Or how to? Thank you very much.
You can't because they won't let you. If you have a "strong legal reason", you can ask them to delete them for you.

I notice that the visitors I get on FAA seem to come from a small number of cities in the US and China.
Aren't these search bots?

waiting to be moderated but let me tell you this strict policy makes it hard for newcomers to enjoy being here.
You won't enjoy being here if you're looking for free images to put on items to sell. This is a discussion group for people who are selling images.
i'm already selling my stock images but for i'm working on some new artistic prints and i need licensed images i can't shoot where i live now and because of Covid-19 limitations it's still not easy to move abroad so the cheapest option is buying EL stock images, simple as that.
Oh you can buy them, that's OK!

Hi, i would like to know if Someone has heard about cafepress.com? it[s good place to sell designs?
Not really an answer but FAA and the paid account means everything is available on Pixels. All kinds of products and you only have to do the work once.
$30 a year is not much to pay for a linked personal gallery and you can also drop links in your own personal website if you have one. https://pete-klinger.pixels.com/ prints, home decor, apparel, tech items, puzzles, paper products. Personally Zazzle was complicated and I sold nothing, same for Red Bubble and Etsy is a joke.
FAA/Pixels I get returns for my time.
Society6 is complicated, but they match the dimensions to the product, so you won't get some Frankenstein crop of your images. They are trying to make the offerings match the product, for the benefit of the artists and for the buyers experience. I can understand why some people find the site unfriendly as you either have to create many versions, large pixel dimensions and different crops, or only offer things that are for the basic format.
After trying a number of different POD sites, I ended up with FAA/Pixels as the only one that seems to work for me.
Nice, I have a question. With premium plan paying $30 year at FAA they will give promotion and publicity to the sellers or we have to do it?
They have generally good Google SEO, but they don't pretend other than you have to do the promotion work. Any sales I get there are just luck. All the premium plan does is let you upload more than a small number of files. Oh, and I think you only get your own pixels subsite (your-name.pixels.com) if you pay. They claim it's 'fully customisable' - it's anything but, there are only tiny tweaks you can do. But at least you can direct buyers to your 'own' site, either directly or via your blog, social media etc, and they won't be distracted by other people's work. You can see that many people just use the site for fulfilment. A proportion of files which sell have no keywords or caption at all (I first discovered this accidentally one day when I wondered who a man was whose photo had sold: the title was very generic like Portrait 43 and when I clicked in, there was no info (caption or keywords) on the photo). I suspect there may be paid placement, but I haven't proved this and in the past, they've denied it. Sometimes a large search term is completely dominated by one contributor: sometimes their work is excellent and sometimes IMO not so much (tastes differ, of course).

"How do I know if I need a standard or extended license? Every file downloaded on iStock comes with a standard license that lets you use it in a wide variety of ways. From social media ads to billboards, PowerPoint presentations to feature films, you're free to modify, resize and customize every asset on iStock to fit your projects. With the exception of "Editorial use only" photos (which can only be used in editorial projects and can't be modified), the possibilities are limitless. Just make sure your modifications don't violate the content license agreement.
If, however, you require over 500,000 prints, create products for resale, or share files with multiple users, you'll need to add an extended license to your credit purchase. The cost of an extended license is 18 credits for images and 21 credits for videos, in addition to your standard license. "
So it looks as though the use you found was legit.
BTW, the info about extended licences is much more difficult to find now than it used to be. I had to be determined that there is such a thing as an extended licence and I was going to find out about it. I don't know how many buyers will even think to do that, as you're not prompted at the point of sale to check. (Unless you are prompted if you actually go in to buy a file)

Maybe its my age but I can just about grasp Crypto. NFT are a mystery to me....you seem to be paying for virtually nothing....
You're doing better than me, I can't grasp Crypto at all. One thing which interested me is that I've recently joined a couple of totally unrelated facebook groups, and noticed that both of them said in their 'group rules' that there was to be no discussion about Crypto on the groups, from which I'm inferring that there is some concerted effort by crypto-fans, or those who stand to benefit, to infiltrate internet groups.
