GLStock / GLStock What are they upto?
« on: July 03, 2020, 00:28 »
I requested them to remove my work a year back which they did.
But from couple of weeks, I am receiving emails about sale of my works. I emailed multiple times to their support but no one is responding..
What's going on?

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Digital downloads on Etsy
« on: June 29, 2020, 05:45 »
LOTS of stolen work on etsy in my experience. Mostly know it for the number of DMCA take downs I've had to issue.
Oh, and sellers there know to dispute your claim and Etsy will let them repost, leaving you with the option of suing if you want to take it further.

Not a fan.

can you share some detailed experience of this?
I also see lot of my works being uploaded there.

Photos took a hit today (you'll have to scroll the chart).

Possibly as a result of Africa Studios removing their 1,162,088 photos.

I strat to be nervous, first SS killing price, now Adobe killing sales.  :o

I am getting normal AS sales and happy about it.

Hmm... maybe when you reactivate your portfolio, as a punishment, you'll have to start again from level 1...

(I'm kidding... but you never know with these little %$#$%)

Or maybe, if you reactivate the portfolio, these are treated as fresh images and all the popular images are now nowhere available in SS top pages.

332
That's simple economics..

Its a short term game of freepik.

Give everything for free and cheap, earn money and exit the market.

And that's what the owner did. They sold it.
If the business was success for them, they would never sell it.

Shutterstock is(or was) far better than them, imagine if SS also followed the freemium concept, everyone would have been destroyed.

I like SS strategy, they always want to become pioneer.

There was an idiot and then shutterstock finds and challenges him.

And now you all can see they are now pioneer in it.

Lost all hopes now.  :(  :'(

I can also see $0.10 Single and other.. its so  depressing :(

I think.. SS should do a fair 50/50 share deal with contributors.

We made shutterstock and we deserve this.

They should quit their empire state office and take a low cost space. There are plenty of way to do cost cutting in backend instead of cutting royalty cost of contributors.

They should take all the possible steps to reduce running expenses and share those savings with contributors.

Its a digital marketplace, they need not to do extreme showoff in real world.

Yes and no, public image does play a role. A big corporation like Shutterstock needs to be in a premium location. Imagine if Shutterstock was operating from some run-down shed somewhere in a third-world country, without any way for potential business partners and capital investors to visit them on location. That wouldn't express any professionalism.

There is this quote from the movie American Beauty: "In order to be successful one must project an image of success at all times."

Having said that, those office space expenses shouldn't come out of contributors' pockets.

I agree and disagree with you here.

I believe their account books needs to be strong enough to speak for them.
And empire state building owns a huge running expense to shutterstock.

If the showbiz and premium locations is important, then they should also respect the contributors equally.
It should be both side win win situation.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime increasing royalties
« on: May 30, 2020, 01:27 »
This is really a great move, but am I the only one who finds the timing incredibly....convenient? Shutterstock announced a cut of our royalities and two days later Dreamstime announces a rise in royalities? Does seem a bit like an attempt to gain some publicity and customers and attrackt as many contributors who are possibly leaving Shuttersock at the same time?
Either way, I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth (too closely) and am happy about the increase in rocalities either way, whatever the motives.
Why wouldn't they try and gain publicity and customers? Name a business that doesn't do that.

Yes, there is difference between publicity and opportunity.

I am with dreamstime here as they have taken a good decision in this pandemic.

I got banned from the forum very early on after posting a PM from the moderators telling me to stop asking questions.   Fair enough, was expecting it.

So far at least my account seems to be up though.

wow... this is brutal... where is freedom of speech?

What does this mean in terms of earning?

For those earning $0.25 or $0.38, how much will earn now?
And on demand? And same for enhanced and single other?

This is so confusing. I went through the SS forum which is on fire right now, with no proper guidance from the officials.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Latest sales - down quite a bit
« on: May 20, 2020, 05:36 »
It is a significant dip indeed but not so much so that would inspire one to exit the agency. April data is everywhere same. On other platform Youtube, During April, I got 35% more views and 35% lesser pay than March. Yes, Payout is not a problem there. Now, for this month of May, if you take any indicators from numbers, the CPM value has increased and Per 1000 views pay is getting better. This all indicates that world is returning to work, advertisers are coming back, film and creative industry is getting back to production. May data looks better than April. On Microstock sites too, the sentiments are same. May looks better than April.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Adobe Account Synchronization
« on: May 18, 2020, 08:20 »
Hello,
I have a friend who didn't sync her Fotolia account to Adobe Stock when it was possible. She would like to do it now but since she already has an Adobe ID it seems impossible. I know she has contacted technical support, but they keep telling her to do the same procedure which seems to work only if you don't already have an Adobe ID.
Has anyone ever had the same problem?
Thank you

Fotolia is no longer working.

It says in the home page
"FOTOLIA IS NOW CLOSED, LEARN MORE ABOUT ADOBE STOCK AND THE FOTOLIA CLOSURE"

Are you able to login to fotolia portal?
And why your friend didn't sync it before?

passport? you can share that for the ID
