Inspectors and admins get (unfairly, imo) special privileges in the queue.  Even, amazingly, same day Vetta acceptance.  We've complained, to no avail.

Then, it's good to know not all inspectors take advantage of such privileges...   There are still fair people in the world  :)

Exclusive contributors get HUGE priority on reviews than us normal folks.  I would not be surprised if Exclusives are getting same day reviews.  It's a big conspiracy I tell you - hahaha.
No, exclusives don't get same day reviews.  2 days is the usual time for exclusives.

Sometimes, when looking at the latest uploads at IS, I find images which have been uploaded the same day.  Though I wonder why it happens, it doesn't annoy me at all.  I've always thought it must be just another glitch in the program which makes some uploads get first in the queue...  But what I do find very annoying is that many times these images happen to be from inspectors, who curiously are always the same ones...  :-\

Maybe it's been just a coincidence...  After all, I don't know the rules for inspectors.

As I said, I am just thinking aloud.  :)

Perfect looking people are not real?    :'(
Ever heard of 'Adobe Photoshop'?
Ever heard of perfect looking people 100% natural?

Question for Lagereek, why are you referring to RF and micro as mutually exclusive? I'm trying to understand your post.
I have the same question.

Finally found this mentioned buried in the 36 page F5 thread here:

http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=240711&page=35

Only a few people (Sean, Slobo, Abzee) have even bothered to comment about it.  Pretty sad.

I added a comment, but since it will probably be deleted I will cross-post here:

I am really surprised a bigger deal isn't being made about this. Only place to find this information is buried in a 36 page forum thread?

So now, in addition to dwindling sales, we have to eat a 25% drop in royalties? It wasn't the contributors decision to redo the site, it wasn't our decision to lobby customers to switch to Thinkstock, it wasn't contributors decision to raise prices on large sections of the collection.

Since we didn't make any of the decisions that are chasing buyers away, why do we have to eat the cost of trying to woo them back?

This is thread about the 25% discount: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=242092&page=1

Hi All

So I am another budding photographer..  I recently bought my first dSLR and identified micro as a great way to learn how to shoot lots of different things and earn a bit of extra cash for some more equipment and maybe some lessons.

Another budding photographer?  I don't mean to offend you but, having a DSLR doesn't make you a photographer.

Don't expect to generate $100 a month by just pressing a button.   It's not just about quantity, it's also about quality, originality and knowledge.

There is 25% Off promo to celebrate the F5.
I guess total sales must be really low.  Otherwise, I don't think such a big discount would be offered.  :-\

i hate staring at the same number all day, every day. >:(

Hope we have a good Monday.  Otherwise, it will be better to cover the number with a piece of adhesive tape.

But what plans? What actions? What can we, as individuals, do?

Don't support TS with your content. Without content it can never become a threat. Simples.

Good advice.

I couldn't help my self taking a look at this  ::)

Isn't it amazing how nosy we are?

Never in the field of stock photography have so many turkeys voted for Christmas all at the same time.

Excellent description of TS supporters.  :D

Hmmm. 20% of one million sounds an awful lot like a profit of $200,000.

Which can be looked at two ways ... I made $200,000 over the course of an entire year .. or .. Hmmm I just lost $800,000  ???

$1,000,000 gross - $800,000 costs = $200,000 profit ........ where exactly have you lost any money?

ok I'm going to invest into expenses in order to run a business .. smart idea moving on .. So I'm working with $800,000 capital .. now I'm going to invest it all on expenses .. year is over and now how much do I have in my pocket? $200,000 ... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you are losing money and need to take a serious look at your business model. Would have been better off not working at all and hanging on to the capital and maybe using it to pay for some business classes.

Randy,

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. If I invest 800k every year and clear $1M every year, I'm happy. There are many businesses that do much worse than 20% net margin. Even google and microsoft run at ~40%. This would mean they take $600k and produce $1M in revenue therefore $400k in profit. Are you saying that no business that has less than 50% net margin is a crappy business?

What am I missing?

Rahul
I'm not talking about a website or any other market. I'm talking about photography. You are going to take $800K out of pocket .. and wait a year so you can make a $200K profit and be happy ??? As a photographer that's just insane !!!

What are you saying?  Come on!

There would be absolutely NO LOST at all!   Would you be sad with the $200.000 profit ?

Take a board game and some beers with you because it seems your shooting session will be very boring and frustrating.  ;)

Only unsolicited e-mails are spam.  Contributors could choose to be in such mailing list or not.

Additional ways to keep contributors informed could reduce the amount of complaints and endless panic threads in the forum.

Well, if people are going to the forum to panic and complain then maybe they should read some of it first. People are going to complain and panic either way and mass-emailing tens of thousands of contributors a few times a week is probably not time- or cost effective, especially since it's well-known that iStock posts their announcements in their forums.

Maybe it's not so well-known that iStock posts their announcements in their forums.  Just as an example, this is how this thread started.

I own an online company (not related to photography) and when there is an important announcement to make, we just send a quick message to all the users who are in our mailing list.  Writing the message only takes a minute and sending is free.
