Off Topic / Re: PicTriev search for your face
« on: October 08, 2009, 18:40 »
I'm in trouble - uploaded two different images and for both it said 'cannot find a face'.

I think this means that the file size is to big and it did not had an image to search with. Just resize the image down to less then 200k bytes.

My views are still going down, but I had a sale yesterday and one today. That brings my total sales up to 15. So I guess I can't complain.

Zymmetrical.com / Re: keywords and Category
« on: October 07, 2009, 09:46 »
From the agencies where you have to categorize, I think BigStock has the best system. You pick the first image from your FTP upload and it will display all the IPTC information with auto select three categories. If one category is incorrect you change it of deselect the category. You click submit and you have the next image with its data and categories in front of you. Very fast and easy. No carefully checking if anything is left check from the last image or not, because you don't want to overwrite accidentally you keywords and categories from the current image with the one from the last.

Zymmetrical requires now the selection of a category and a minimum of 10 keywords.

New magazine: Fast Media Magazine
Some more info on my Blog

When looking though the magazine and their website, I am sure that I have seen before some of the stock images that they have used. Who can identify the photographers?

General Stock Discussion / September 2009 earnings breakdown
« on: October 01, 2009, 11:26 »

This are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for September 2009:

   1. Shutterstock
   2. Veer Marketplace
   3. Fotolia
   4. Dreamstime

September was a very good month with an increase of 5% compared to August. This is adding up to three month of increase in a row. It was the best month ever for Big Stock Photo, Featurepics, and Veer Marketplace. Veer Marketplace surprised this month with a sale of an Extended License.

You can find a extended list of stock photography agencies that I work with at H. Lehnerer Photography.

I use Cushy Stock ( http://cushystock.com )

keywording with http://www.findphotokeywords.com/
copy and past with Cushy Stock
maybe changing in Cushy Stock the keyword sorting
and the upload to most of the agencies with FTP through Cushy Stock

New Sites - General / Re: The3dStudio, a concern about quality....

The 3d Studio announced today a Member Loyalty Program
http://photoinfos.blogspot.com/2009/09/the3dstudiocom-has-500000-resources-and.html

You have to agree to sell with them for the next 5 years, and for that your receive 10% more royalty. That mounts up then to 70% royalty rate.

Adeptris,
Are you going to sign up? Anyone else signing up? 5 years is a long time.

363
I have 1-2 month only a hand full of sales and then comes a month with more sale plus sales from Fotosearch. Next month is then back to 2-3 sales. So it is an up and down. The upload via FTP is fast and easy.

Computer Hardware / Re: Image storage options
« on: September 20, 2009, 08:48 »
I use http://carbonite.com/ for online backup. I have a second internal hard drive to storage my images. From time to time I burn DVD and then delete the data of the hard drive. If I need the files again, then I can load it from the DVD again.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Release confusion at Dreamstime?!
« on: September 12, 2009, 12:08 »
I am sure if I had submitted this image then I would have received this rejection reason

"Too many photos/illustrations on the same subject or from the same series. Please be more selective and choose only the best shots or illustrations. Avoid submitting simple variations on the same subject."

This is the most comment rejection I receive in the moment.

My rejection have increased dramatically in the last two month at DT

Panthermedia.net / Re: Panthermedia Commission
« on: September 09, 2009, 15:54 »
PM is starting with an image price of 0.20. You can use 50% if you are selling only with PM or other agencies with the same price or more. Now without looking it up, I don't know who is selling it for less. And even if there is someone that is selling it for 0.15, then I still think that this is all in the same price range.

Panthermedia has low prices now too. Would it be then ok to mark all images with 50% commission?

This are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for August 2009:

1. Shutterstock
2. Fotolia
3. Dreamstime
4. 123RF

August was an excellent month with an 8% increase to Juli and a view surprises. It was the Best Month Ever for DT, 123RF, FotoMind, and PantherMedia. The two new agencies Veer Marketplace and The 3D Studio in my collection performed surprisingly very well.
