Hi guys...finally at a computer. Have to take day off today.

I'm going to make a cookie system responsible for all of this, make email woes a thing of the past. Should be done by friday if everything goes well - though I may delay the release to get some other bugs worked out and a few analytics features added.

Was just thinking, some browsers etc are clamping down on cookies these days aren't they? Could it be made so that if a users settings don't allow cookies, symbio recognises this, tells the user what is happening and then tells them that due to their settings they need to sign up (as in, keep the current email system as a backup - not remove it entirely) to complete checkout?

I could be way off, just a thought

I just gave their new upload a go. Using safari, I followed the steps and it did nothing. I mean nothing. After clicking the red process button it just NOTHING. Waited for hour or more. Tried multiple times.

Then opened firefox and did it - worked fine. All processed within about 5 mins.

Clearly it needs a lot more work to improve the system.

I came across an interesting bug that I noticed because one of my image pages showed two different images - one under the other.

I think this is how it occurs:

I have a number of images that have exactly the same title. Symbio changes the slug after the first one to add "-2" etc. If I upload just a few of those images, and then later upload the rest, then everything is fine - the slugs are still incrementally modified so you don't have a clash.

However - and this is now a bit of conjecture - if I change the title of the image in Symbio, but leave the slug as it is, and then upload similar titled images later, it reuses the original slug name. Then you get two slugs with the same name and the double image page.

Make sense - is that how it works?

I've just had that EXACT same problem for the first time, two images showing up on the same page. I think you might be onto the reason for it.

Seem to have found a little bug...

While logged in as the Admin, go to view any other users profile in the Wordpress dashboard. You will see under their standard data that your Extended Author Info shows up underneath their profile (weird and confusing, but not the bug - although would be great to stop it doing that!).

Make a change to anything in their profile and save the changes. Now when you go to an image page on the front end of your site, or your author page, the little Bio text that shows up next to your avatar disappears. Well, it does for me anyway. I've tried it a couple of times and each times I have to go back to my profile and re-save it to get that data to display properly again.

Could it be that in the additional author info showing up under each user when logged in as the author, it is actually saving that data to that user, thus making it not display?

Are you using Google Analytics? Check your traffic, then look at the Landing Page. If the Landing Page = your sold image, then you can figure out the source easily.

You can put Goals into Google Analytics. I haven't done it with my Symbiostock site yet, but with Warmpicture I had goals for the Add to Cart page and for the Download page (which meant the sale was completed).

I have never really understand the Goals side of things - if I were to set one up for the two pages you mentioned, what extra information would I gain from it?

I'm hoping the 'premium' version Leo is putting together will add all that sort of functionality right into the widget backend, so the admin can choose it all from a few dropdown menu's when implementing the widgets.

This is the sort of stuff the high end Themeforest themes thrive on, the ability for basic users to adjust nearly every conceivable element of the theme without touching any code. Eg: footer text colour in a different field to normal page text colour and so on. Making every element unique and easily editable will bring in a whole lot of newbies to wordpress & symbio once they realise they can edit it all via some tick boxes and drop downs.

hi Leo, can this plugin auto detect my content description and apply it to meta description? I am using Yoast seo now, but I have to manually copy my text from content to my meta description.

I already got Leo to implement Excerpts a while back which allows the Yoast plugin to then do this process for you.

Just go to the Yoast Plugin, Titles & Meta tab, then under Post Types find "Symbiostock Images". In the meta description template part put "%%excerpt%%" (without the "") and it will auto generate it for you. Just be aware, it doesnt visually show up in the meta description box on the image edit page, it just applies it in the background. You may need to tick "Excerpts" to be shown on the Screen Options dropdown on the image edits page.
