Are you using the standard settings on the camera, and a kit lens?
I have found with my 30D I had to tune the in camera sharpness because it was too soft.

We in Australia at the moment are benefiting from the AUD US$ exchange rate if we are buying stuff. Currently we nearly have parity with the US$ which makes purchasing camera gear almost half the price it was a few years ago.
Once I have my 5D, Bowens studio set up, a 24-105L and a 85MM f1.2L the money I make from microstock will be revenue.
I will - except for the sites that automatically payout - be banking my sales with the agency until such time as the AUD US$ gets some value back.

At the same time I have increased my portfolio by 100% at DT, my sales have decreased by the same percentage.
I have checked keywords, loaded more photos to suit the best sellers, but something has changed over the past 12 months.
DT buyers are buying something different. Now checking out what is popular seems to show "all time popularity". Is that true? Am I missing something?
Any thoughts on what is selling these days?

As far as I have seen Yaymicro is the only one that truly understands editorial images. Except nothing is selling there so far.
I look in the newspaper each day and see an example of outside a Boeing building, or outside a Virgin store.
Unfortunately, the majority of micro sites do not see these types of images as editorial stock. It seems DT only wants things that are related to a specific incident. Which is a waste of time.
If you wanted to submit them, you would not choose a micro site. There are specific news sites that pay thousands of dollars for images of specific events.

The past 2 months I have made a real effort to increase my portfolio. I used to be able to get 3 lots reviewed a week, now it is down to 2.
I think they are getting really busy.
Still a heck of a lot faster than anywhere else.

I have about 20 approved and 140 loaded to go. Like the others said the keywording is tedious and slow.
No sales yet.

The US $ will not be dropped any time soon as a measure of financial markets.
It is still the safest currency on the globe.
The economy goes up and down. So does the Greenback.

Downturn in the US dollar is good for me.
Presently the Australian dollar is close to parity, at 96 cents.
Because I am still building myself up, I need gear more than anything. The prices of camera gear for us in Oz has nearly halved. Our dollar used to be worth 50 US cents.
But once I have my 5d, a few good lenses, and a set of studio lights, I will be chasing the money for income. So I would be just banking it on the sites and only asking for a payout when the Aussie falls.
