Ooohh! I can finally answer someone else's question , at least part of it. If you go to Appearance / Widgets you'll see the holding spots on the right side for the footer locations. Click the little triangle on the right of each section to open it. You can drag over widgets or move them from the sidebar location too. There is a text widget for adding text and html. I'm not sure about the main footer line. I think in the Symbiostock options one of the tabs has some radio buttons to select some options on what goes in there. Not sure how much it can be customized.

I'm getting these ominous sounding warnings under my parent theme.
Fixed. It was that theme-updater plugin which I no longer need for this theme.
Thanks Leo!!!!

Leo, it's remained during the last two updates installed. Having found the location I realize that I wasn't in that folder when I was messing with the php.ini files so it's not that. So far I haven't found anything that isn't functioning so I won't worry about it just yet.

I'm getting these ominous sounding warnings under my parent theme. I think I did something when I was trying to get the php.ini files uploaded to increase my file uploads. The warnings remain even when I've deleted and installed newer versions of Symbiostock. Any suggestions on how to fix these? I'm guessing I have to do it through the file manager in my C-Panel but not sure exactly what to do.

Update: I found the location in my cPanel by opening the code editor.
Line 658 starts with "if ( 0 === Line 661 stars with } elseif ( 0 ===

Had 6 subs for the year and was absolutely shocked to log on last week and see two credit sales. One for $1.20 and another for $15.00. I might actually see my first payout and not have to leave it for my heirs to collect.

It sounds like this is regarding their relatively new Connect program that gives fractional amounts on pay-per-view when images are used in partner advertising. When it was announced the question was what miniscule fraction of a cent would be paid for views and how much would it add up.

If you can see the Symbio folder, you are in the right area. That is the top level of your stock photo site. Just put the php.ini in there
Steve
I did it!!! Y'all will make a programmer of me yet First problem was notepad automatically throwing on a .txt extension which wasn't visible in Windows file manager but could be seen in the control panel, had to get rid of that. Second problem was my confusion on top level directory. I just kept installing and deleting until I got it to work - it needed to go into the Public_html directory which was two levels above the Symbiostock_rf folder. Thanks Steve!

Hmmm - I'm doing something wrong here. I did a copy & paste from your text so that's identical and when I view the Symbiostock_rf folder I see the new php.ini upload but when I refresh and view the testing area I'm not seeing any changes.

Thanks Steve - I'm good with finding the file manager and public_html area and I see the Symbiostock_rf folder. I'm just not sure exactly what you mean by top level directory. In this case would it be the one that has the name of my site, the highest level folder above the Symbiostock_rf folder, or is one tha tis even higher than that?

I just uploaded the symbiostock theme, then the child theme. Then activated the child theme. It went into my root folder.
Cathy, this is what I did but I'm not sure it's set up as it should be. When I go to Appearance/Themes/Manage I have the child theme showing as the current them and it refrences that it requires it's parent them SYMBIOSTOCK (it's not the error I had previously where it was saying the parent wasn't installed). I see the parent theme listed with the "available" themes below. When I look at the root directory I see both Symbiostock and Sybiostock-child listed as separate themes. Does this sound like I have it set up correctly ?

Ahhh... Post-max-size is set to 10M. I need to add a php.ini, to increase that
Steve
Steve, I'm with Bluehost too so I suppose I'll need to do the same. I keep seeing references to php.ini but being clueless when it comes to programming I'm not sure how to go about that. Is is something that's easy enough to explain here in the forums with a few simple steps? If so I'd appreciate the direction once you've done it successfully.

Well yes but... you know what I just realized? This forum is less and less about microstock all the time. And I'm reading it less as a result.
Right now there are about 6 threads going on Symbiostock and a couple on exclusive new clubs like Stocksy and Offset, which mean nothing to me. Here in this thread we have an actual SS rep, but please don't bring up BS, it's not polite.
It's not my forum, it can be whatever it's creator wants. I'm just seeing this change as evidence of the decline of 'microstock'. The agencies want to do things new with the 1% and put rest of us on the subscription bus to Fargo ND. So be it. Just my sour mood today, I guess.
You can "ignore" select forums if you want to by going to your profile summary and the middle tab (actions?) lets you put a checkmark by any you don't want to see. Block Symbiostock and all it's child boards and the Stocksy forum (under the low earners). I didn't notice an Offset board yet so you're out of luck on that one.

@klsbear , @ruchos I am looking at bluehost at the moment and was wondering what package did you take? do we need the pro to run Symbiostock? If there is a referral link let me know did you sign up yet:)
Cheers
I don't have a pro account and I don't think it's necessary right now though I'm no expert at this. I signed up over a year ago with the intent of using it for another project but that go stalled so I've had mine for awhile. It says my package is the Platinum Pack but in taking a quick look I didn't see reference to that anywhere other than in the stats. I see they have a sale for Easter weekend so that's a good deal. Thanks for the offer on using the referral link. I don't recall ever seeing them promote that and I couldn't find one but I do appreciate your asking.

I'm hosting on Bluehost, and have had not problems in the setup so far.
I'm also hosting on Bluehost and it's been pretty easy. I had set something up with them awhile ago in anticipation of another project but hadn't started it yet. Wordpress loaded up with no problems on the main domain but when I tried to upload to the add-on domain I added to my account for the Symbiostock project it wasn't loading. One quick call to customer service solved the problem. I was transferred almost immediately to a tech who did the install from his end and had me up and running in about 5 minutes.

This is perfect timing. Desiging a watermark is one of the next projects on my list. I may come up with a few options and post them to see what everyone thinks is most effective.

Thanks Leo! That did the trick. Wordpress is up and running and it's now running Symbiostock! I just wasn't sure which file I needed to upload from Github. Thanks for the offer to get me up and running. I really want to conquer this myself if possible, in part to prove to others that it's easier than they think so they'll jump on board too. I'll start playing with it (tomorrow - it's after midnight here in NY) and if I really hit a wall I'll reach out to you once you've come back from your hiatus.

I may be getting in way over my head but I really want to jump into this and try to make it work however all the tech-talk jargon is starting to make my head spin. If someone can help point me in the right direction to help me get rolling I'll happily write some tutorials in return for others totally new to this that want to get started.
Here's what I've accomplished so far: Host site set up with Bluehost with both a primary domain and an add-on domain Intent is to use add-on domain for Symbiostock (primary domain was previously set up for other use though currently not active. Do have the option to have Bluehost "name swap" them to make my add-on the primary and the current primary an add-on if that makes things easier) I have basic understanding of Wordpress from blog site at WP.com site so I do understand navigating the backend.
Here's where I'm stuck: Followed Github link in the "take care of the baby" link and not quite sure what to do next. What should I be downloading to be able to upload the theme to WP? Can I upload the theme via the Appearance/Themes/Install/Upload process in WP or do I need to transfer via .ftp to my Bluehost acct.? Also wondering about all the updates and what steps need to be done with regard to adding updates (or will that WP Theme Update Plug In mentioned at the bottom of the github page take care of all that?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Plodding along.... Sub sales are up but not at the expense of bigger sizes which are more or less the same. Despite a 15% increase in downloads my income is down by 35% because my small portfolio isn't generating enough sales to climb the ranks. Only saving grace at this point is that the increase downloads are helping my RC's to climb. I'm selling enough larger sizes to keep the RPD falling below an unacceptable level so I'll stick it out for a bit. They had been my #3 site prior to the changes.

This looks identical to the Bluehost site and process. Given the similarity in name I'm wondering if they are somehow related, perhaps different sites for different countries?

We do have the opportunity to put our images that we think fit the Stocksy style on our Symbiostock sites to see what buyer reaction is. Granted we're not likely to get the same traffic, especially in the beginning, but it is a testing ground that is available to us. And it would be easy enough to remove them to move over to Stocksy if the opportunity were there.

Business, landscape, travel, industry. At least one link with an illustrator would be welcome to add variety.

Very exciting! I'm familiar with WP and have set up my host site but programming and self hosting are new to me. It may take me awhile to get up and running but I'm ready to give it a try.

The initial post had a discussion about regarding the EULA. Was it determined that we would be on our own with that or that we'd need to share amongst ourselves?
I'm new to self-hosting and selling so I'm trying to list out all the details I need to cover regarding legal, pricing and payments. I believe Paypal has different options relating to payments for selling product vs. receiving royalty payments which I'll need to research. Any tips and pointers for those of us new to selling direct would be helpful and might help grow the network faster if we can get on board sooner.

Bummer, I am going to Minneapolis for the week and you are going to release this when I am gone aren't you?
I really like the "open network" idea. I'm not sure about the 5 in your network - It would be great for people with same size portfolios, but who is going to want to network with my tiny niche site(s)... But on the other hand - someone who has several niches could link their own sites together. LOL, this may become a popularity contest. Symbiostock Survivor!
Pixart,I might be willing to network with your niche site. Finding 5 people willing to network with me has been one of my concerns since I tend to lurk here and don't have vast connections. We need an "orphans" list of people looking for network friends. I have a small portfolio that is heavy on food images and no images with people. I'm trying to understand what might be the best balance in the best type of network to have. For instance, LisaFx has food images on her own website but heavy on shots with people. That could be complimentary because a search for a food-related keyword could lead to my portfolio or her portfolio and (if I understand this right) would show related pics from networked sites. If my friend network was filled with portfolios that had a lot of travel, landscape, business, etc. would it be less likely that related images would pop up to link over to network portfolios? Leo - will there be a tracking option that shows a report to analyze how one's friend network is working out with regard to inbound and outbound traffic? It seems that it will be critical in fine-tuning the network. If I see that I am not getting any inbound traffic from someone that has me as a friend or I see that I'm not giving any outbound traffic to one of my friends it would be time to consider updating one's friend network to benefit each other better.

I was getting that when using IE9 and couldn't get the history to clear. I opened the site in foxfire and while leaving ff open I went back to explorer and was able to access the page. That cleared the history and it works fine now.
