Symbiostock Test Build - the Bug Stomping Thread!

This happens when you hit the magnifying glass to preview a photo.  If you notice under the title it says "by Pixart", but under Laurent's it has his e-mail address.  I'm pretty sure these are the names of our admin account.  In my case it looks okay, but I'm not sure that Laurent will want his e-mail address under what really is "author".

It might be wordpress inserting an email because author name has been left out.

Thanks for helping eachother on most other things. Looks like after this quick fix I'll be able to let this go rest of the day. Thanks for reporting bugs.

I was talking to support for 40 minutes at Hostgator regarding the password retrieval email with the missing link and the rep's opinion is that it must be a Wordpress/theme issue.

I was asked to create more accounts to test it with, using different email addresses etc. Still same problem.

Since the email is being sent out it's not a server issue on the host's end (apparently).

Since I know pretty much nothing about proper programming this is all I can report.

Therefore, I do have the same problem lilke Bluehost users.

Yes, it is a theme issue. I'm fixing it now. Cascoly's vector/zip product page issue is fixed now.

I am with jh and had same size issue, their chat support are very helpful and changed the php.ini file so I could edit it.
Navigate to the file in the file section, near top of page is c ode editor, very tiny writing, select that and find areas to edit.  Will be back at computer in morning if you need help let me know

tx - I did see the thread and that fixed it --0  the large file didn't get picked up as an error tho, so wouldn't have know about the limit

PS - on some sites a "network search" will be slower than others, and this was expected. In a few weeks I hope to work around this a few ways so don't worry - Its in the plan with some sure fixes.

Yes - delete the theme you are using by first deactivating, then deleting.

Then upload/install new one.

I don't know if this will help but when I upload the ZIP file into my themes/symbiostock folder on the server and extract it, it creates a second symbiostock subfolder and puts all files in there.

So I have to select all those files and folders and move them one level up so that everything is located in the .../themes/symbiostock/ folder.

Maybe this helps.

About update version:

i can't disable SS theme, so i did somekind of workaround.

- Activate a new theme . Pick anyone avaliable.

- Delete Symbiostock theme and child theme

- Do ZIP file upload (new version have child theme included)

- Install and be happy

you don't need to upload anything .... just delete any previous symbiostock folder, then  use 'install themes' and it will take the zip file and unpack it for you

Farbled can be credited for discovering a nice little wordpress limitation :

Taxonomies cannot share identical slugs (url names).

keyword = gold
category = gold

So a search for gold results in an empty search. Category "gold" is full of images assigned to that category.

Its not a bug - its a wordpress thing. Just not very obvious.

Best practice: Make your categories unique from your keywords.

This theme has to be considerate to people new to wordpress, so I'm going to try to find a way to keep people from submitting conflicting (same) terms.

I'm getting these ominous sounding warnings under my parent theme.  I think I did something when I was trying to get the php.ini files uploaded to increase my file uploads.  The warnings remain even when I've deleted and installed newer versions of Symbiostock.  Any suggestions on how to fix these?  I'm guessing I have to do it through the file manager in my C-Panel but not sure exactly what to do.

Can you just reinstall the theme?

Leo, it's remained during the last two updates installed.  Having found the location I realize that I wasn't in that folder when I was messing with the php.ini files so it's not that.  So far I haven't found anything that isn't functioning so I won't worry about it just yet.

Ok, error message is still significant and with each one I fix its fixed for good - for everyone - so if you want me to check it out just make me an admin account on your site and send me a message with the new admin account's info (and make it with the email address leo at symbiostock.com)

-- this investment of bug-hunting now is going to make this an easy theme for when hundreds of people start using it.

WORDPRESS LOGIN NAME - NAME ON IMAGES

When you get to the stage of customers viewing your thumbnails if they click on the magnifying glass your name will come up on the image.  It is strongly recommended that you add a name other than your admin identity.

To do this go to "Users" "My Profile" then scroll down to
     
Username     ... possibly admin or whatever you chose when you created Wordpress ....   Usernames cannot be changed.
First Name   
Last Name   
Nickname (required)      ....  add the name you wish to appear with your images here ..........
Display name publicly as   ....  select it in the dropdown box ..
