I think the op is probably struggling with contrast. ND filters don't help much with that. It doesn't help that the op hasn't told us what the actual problem is.

Hopefully less beards and the buzz word of the year will be "impeachment".

Wow! Sorry that this thread was trolled so badly and that I wasted so much time trying to get through the pointless banter.
Sounds interesting. I've always wanted to host my own database but any time I've tried Wordpress I just gave up because it always felt bloated.
What I'm primarily interested in is a clean, ultra search engine friendly site to host thumbnails / previews to drive customers to an agency using a referral code.
Anyone working towards a stronger photography community should be encouraged, not trolled.
Do you even know what a troll is? I don't necessarily agree with everything some people throw at Leo but he doesn't deal with it well and overreacts. If he genuinely considers this trolling, why would he keep feeding the troll? It's a shame we can't have differing opinions without the name calling but you have to have a thick skin if you want to use an open forum that doesn't have a lot of moderation. As Leo has been through all this in the past, I hoped he would of found a better way of dealing with it by now.

I would suggest not starting with istock. They just aren't worth the effort for non-exclusives any more. There are lots of other sites to use. They used to rival Shutterstock in the earnings poll here, they are sinking fast and it's only going to get worse.

Looks like my account is still open after I requested them to close it on 23rd November. The support ticket was there but I can't see it now. Sent them an email this time, I really want to be rid of them before 2017.

I don't see anything wrong with Cathy's first post on this thread, she is entitled to her opinion and shouldn't be called a troll for that. Leo requesting deletions is wrong, this is an open forum, I don't agree with someone selling something being able to delete posts that offer an opinion that's valid.

That was an interesting read. I still haven't heard back from my initial application to Stocksy and haven't bothered trying again. Alamy get all my non-microstock images. No huge sales with them this year, I did get a whopper last year. I'm still fairly satisfied with the microstock sites, if one falters, another one seems to pick up. Will carry on with Alamy and I will try and get it to some more higher priced sites next year but I still have to keep the microstock sites, apart from the ones like istock that have lost my portfolio.

You could use a variable neutral density filter to keep a wider aperture and isolate the subject from the background. I don't think the camera you use should matter much.

I think it will only be perfection when we have one site to upload to, instead of many people having their own site and wasting money paying for domains and hosting fees. I still think the majority of people will find it hard to break even running their own site and what's the point of that?

I have no idea why stockastic has spent so much time on this forum with such a small portfolio? The more you upload, the more you make and SS make more than any for most non-exclusives. I don't mind people complaining if they have put a lot of work in to this but if you don't do the work, microstock isn't worth it. A few people can make significant money with a portfolio that small but most of us mere mortals don't get much without submitting thousands of images.

Photos do sell, not often but I still upload because they pay 50% and let me set prices.

They always take their time doing things. "Soon" means they are working on it but who knows when it will be ready? I don't mind how long they take, better to get it right than make a mess of it, like so many of the microstock sites have.

I'm really struggling to understand why any non-exclusive would want to have anything to do with istock now? It's much easier to close your account rather than go through support to delete individual images. They aren't going to make us much money selling as low as $0.02 and if people put up with that, the other sites will follow.
So non-exclusives that stay with istock are going to ruin microstock for themselves and everyone else. Surely this has to be the time to get out?

I gave them notice to close my account on 23rd November. Will be great not to have to read their emails. If we all leave, they will be history but unfortunately it appears that some people have an extremely high pain threshold.

I think that's a good idea. Some of these agencies have to pay large amounts to their shareholders that add no value to the business. That's not sustainable for photographers. The co-op model works for many businesses, I'm sure it wont be easy but it has to be better than working for agencies that don't pay a reasonable rate.

I did have a look at your portfolio and your stats and you're doing OK for someone new to this. We don't all instantly get what will sell and if you look at the first few hundred images from some of the best sellers, they often take a while to learn their trade. A lot of people don't want to encourage more competition, that might be why you didn't get any good feedback but there's already so much competition, I don't see any point in harsh comments like Giveme5 gave you.

They get the main things right, I really like their one time use license, the payout is automatic and quicker than some other sites. Designers seem to like the site and I can put up with a quirky contributors side as long as they keep the buyers happy.

Your the dummy that put them in there in the first place Sir Spamalot
I am not so sure there ever where any as he's clearly the owner of the site he's linking to (1 day old account, same writing style as the, I assume, fake testimonials on the site)
This person made a few bland comments on other subjects to make them look more genuine, how sad is that?

Maybe it is different for vectors, but I uploaded my vectors exactly 2 years ago, through FTP. I have no idea if they approved it, or what? I don't even know how to check - I only got an FTP account (which is different from the canva account). I made an account, but that looks like a buyers account. Is there a different account for sellers?
Try this link: https://www.canva.com/sales

Now she will find out that she's has earned thousands of dollars. lol.
I wish!
I think I'll just write them as I do once a year .
This really confused me at first. I click on my name, top left, then switch from Personal to my contributor user name, by clicking on it (just above +upgrade in the scroll down list). Then top left again, account settings, admin and view sales and portfolio is in there. After switching from Personal to my contributor user name, I bookmark my sales page and portfolio page, then I only have to click on them. If I clear cookies or use a different browser, I have to switch from Personal to my contributor user name again or I get that forbidden page message.

Panasonic are probably the best on a low budget. I use a Lumix DMC-G7.

1.200.000 images of salad 2.700.000 of christmas
what surprises me is that people are still uploading images of salad or christmas...and thy still accept everything. in my opinion there are so many niche that still needs images cause if we analyze the photos 95% are copy of copy and similar subject.
Can't find one of Santa eating salad but maybe that's a bit too niche
