I'm using Nikon equipment since 1984. Still have 2 DSLR and 1 film SLR, lot of lens and strobs. I'm frustrated that new Nikons are only 12Mpix cameras. If nothing change soon, my new camera will be Canon 5DII. 21Mp and HD footage is what I need for microstock.

You have an image on both micros and a free site and you sound surprised that they used the free one (?)
Yes I am suprised that they have a budget from 50 million and are so greedy that they didn't pay me one single cent! What so funny about that?
Good lesson of life, maybe you should pay them for this

"Selling your negatives" is the worst reason ever for not uploading RAWs. Film negatives can be duplicated, does it mean the original photographer can't prove he's the author? Or sent to a stock agency, which might lose them. Is he no longer the author? And what if you shoot JPG? You can't prove you're the author?
Quality of original slide and negative is superior to duplicated ones. You can prove that you have original.

RAW files are your best proof of file ownership if you do not use channels to go through a registration process.
I have sold raw files on a few occasions through my own private licensed stock which is rights managed and individually contracted to qualified firms with appropriate compensation. Would never post raw to micro especially if the shot has some longevity. Just too many thieves, and the 12 credits just not worth it.
Agree. Another thing, I downsize all my images for DT because I hate to get $0.35 for XXL file. With raw, a customer can buy highest resolution and quality (raw is always superior to jpg) for subscription.

I appreciate it Rene as (if I ever have time to shoot personal stuff again) I plan to build a port at Alamay. Can you tell us if Alamay shows up on your balance sheet every month at a somewhat consistent rate, or is Alamay less predictable?
@ Pixart Sorry to disappoint you but my Alamy sales are not regular at all. Sometimes 2-4 months without download, sometimes 2-3 files a month. But I have only about hundred images so far (50% RF, 50 % RM). I think I'll close my accounts at 123, BigStock and StockXpert and invest saved time at upsizing images for Alamy. A feeling when you touch $240 for RF sale is real great, nothing to do with the same amount comming from subscription sales. Sorry to be out of topic

I put my Alamy RF earnings. I don't care if it calls macro, micro or mid stock. Money is money and royaltyfree sales can be compared. IS 42% BME Alamy 25 % SS 11% FT 9% DT 7% StockXpert 2% (opted all out) 123 1.8% (stoped upload here august, if nothing change in december I'll delete my portfolio) BT 1.5% WME (I stop upload here right now and wait and see) Snap 0% (only 5% of my portfolio is here) FP 0% (I'm asking myself what I'm doing here, maybe it's Elena )

Do they (Adorama) sell to Europe?
We certainly do!

Good to know. If we (customers from Europe) can pay with paypal it will be great.

6-7 days and very good acceptance ratio (over 85%). It' ok. But my big problem with IS is video pending bin. Some of my videos are there from over 2 months! And I'm (was) exclusive videographer at IS. Yesterday I canceled my exclusivity for this reason.

A month ago I upload a batch of 5 images there. 2 were accepted, one rejected and 2 are still pending! It's time to say goodbye to Zymmetrical.
Rene,
Rejected: As I offered to Rgebbie, by all means post some low-res copies of the rejected photos here and we can all have a look and discuss. If you don't want to do at least that, that's cool too, but we can't offer much more to you in that case.
The problem is not 1 rejected image but one month pending time.

BigStock was always very slow for me. In one month here I get what I earn in one day at IS. My acceptance ratio was almost 100% but lately they reject a lot of my staff. My last studio macro shot and underwater diving image were rejected. Reason : snapshot (these snapshots were accepted by others sites). I think they hired a new stupid reviewer. Another rejection like this and I stop uploading to them.

Nothing to understand. It just doesn't work. Never did (I'm at DT about 2 years). Don't waste your time looking at this useless tool.

One dollar miracle... Crestock lowest earnings will never change. I'm very happy that my portfolio is no more there.

All the talk about being able to maximize profits with any given number of images needs to be weighed with the risk of tying yourself to one outlet. You've got the risk (actually certainty) of rejected images returning 0 income.
And suppose some disgruntled employee turns the image servers into toast. Stranger things have happened in business besides fire, data theft, data damage, etc.
Suppose someone offers you a hundred thousand dollars to buy out your best-selling category? Suppose you get a great idea to market your images in an exciting new way? How many hundreds of manufacturers have gone out of business after the goods they sold exclusively to Walmart were dropped from their shelves?
End of ranting. Sorry to re-cover the same ground as other threads. Just the way I see it. Too old (experienced) to change my views on this one.
My thoughts too. I love IS, it's my best earner (2-4 times more than second one - SS). I hope one day IS will give us possibility to upload exclusives images and 80% of my portfolio will go there.

I've just found it at Istock forum. Istock admin Joyze said: "When we find fraudulent purchases, we do a refund back to the credit card so that the original owner of the card doesn't have to pay for the purchase. If the person who made the fraudulent purchase then uses the credits to download files, we do not remove the royalties you've earned from that download. iStock takes that one for the team! I believe that is the compensation that sjlocke is speaking of."http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=74099&page=1Istock is only one "gentelman" site ? Why Fotolia, Dreamstime and Bigstock... don't do it.

I did it once. 132 dls without any positive results. 132 gifts. I'll not do it again.

Why simply not let them die? That will remind the others that nobody is invulnerable. If Leaf needs 3 months to get 50$ that means that someone like me needs much much more. That's ridiculous, especially that they dare of speaking about high-quality. They closed their forum, there is a reason for that.

Hehe - I thought of that too... but they can use our photos as they like in promos can't they, why would they pay?
Whooow effect. Without money no reason to post on MSG. Then everybody starts uploading to the site, dreaming of 56$ sales
