If you are PiCi-Windojz fun in first place I suggest you to buy better power supply and UPS.
After that you can play with good mother board, ssd, and graphic cards, etc...

I have Mac dual 1GHZ 8 years old which works like old diesel tractor but at the end off they task work is done.
For some complex tasks it is slow so I have time for moaning on this forum about iStock.

I think they will start to implement things in August. Not all things at the same time, but one by one.

Oh good. So they can drag the problems out much longer.  ;)

I was just thinking how to stop moaning but as I see Saga will be just begin...
Stay tuned  ;D

General Stock Discussion / Re: NASA images
« on: July 27, 2010, 22:18 »
I wanted to make a calendar at Zazzle with NASA images. As discussed before, their images can be used by others for commercial use, as they are considered public domain.

This is what they say at their website:

Quote
Photographs are not protected by copyright unless noted. If copyrighted, permission should be obtained from the copyright owner prior to use. If not copyrighted, photographs may be reproduced and distributed without further permission from NASA.

Now, when I see images credited like this:
"NASA Earth Observatory image created by Jesse Allen, using EO-1 ALI data provided courtesy of the NASA EO-1 team."
or
"NASA image courtesy Jeff Schmaltz, MODIS Rapid Response Team at NASA GSFC."
Are these also public domain?

I'm confused because it seems most images now have credits like these.  Even the famous "Blue marble" series have "Credit: Reto Stockli, NASA Earth Observatory" and even some Hubble images have dubious credits.

I dont understant why you are so hung up with this thing Zazzle???
What is it? Is it worth time contributing there?
Little salesman of middle salesman of big salesman of blank cheap items dont know how to sell they items little bit costly so they need little/cheap artists to put something on that for $ crumbs.

This Zazzle for me have only sense as I know you thru this forum like a hyperactive philanthropist if you put child's work eg. doodles, sketches and so on and give them money or gifts back thru they sales on this Zazzle thing. It will have more sense for me.

Anyhow sorry if I am rude in first place, but it seams that I cant help to myself.

Why they are not talking about that they will keyword our images and put them in they fairy tale CV, or dont reject our images for few wrong keywords for they 80% of royalty from us?
Everytime is story how to screw us more.
My last batch they removed all the bad keywords and approved the image. Istock reviewers are grown up.
If they make home page for submitters they will drop down in top 500 ww by factor of 2 or 3 on the list and they of course dont like this idea
Good point but as submitters probably won't have an Alexa toolbar installed, it won't have a lot of influence.
[/quote]

- In first point you are fairly right. They dont reject all my images for few bad keywords, its about 60/60% in this issue.
Maybe less or more but I thing that from time to time its going better and better (hands up iStock). I mention that in some post ago and I was positive surprised after first approved 3 bad keyword image because I think that about 20-30% of my images are rejected just for few wrong keywords or they reviewers realize that they have more job to do when they give splat from they moaning service (which link is hidden like snakes legs) for they bad decision while risking they job, so for them is easier way to delete ours few bad keywords and it is lets say win/win situation for reviewers and us but its not iStock's public statement policy.
Before that I think Stokas intention is in hair splittering or (Pain In The Ass pedant wanabee process thru horse glasses to screwing us for this minor thing, few bad keywords) how they make more traffic to they site like dog when run around tree to catch up his own tail while they have site maintains problems as all stock sites together x 2 or more (see below)

-- They potential droppings in list of first 500 ww will not be problem for image buyers but for them if someone potential site buyer want buy them (eg. Corbis, CreStock, flemishdreamblogspot.konj, suljo.konj  ;D etc...) In this case they site price will drop down dramatically.
Blah blah which is story that not concern us at all...

Anyhow they drop they pressure on us by few % and try to invent hot water for us...

Michaelo bath is warming up, is soap still safely in you hands?  :o

----Question for our Black Diamond queen LisaFx
I notice that you often use acronym PITA in you posts
As you and all of you see I am not native english speaker but I try it very hard and I was wandering what it means.
Is it from dictionary?
pita |ˈpētə| (also pita bread)
noun
flat hollow unleavened bread that can be split open to hold a filling.
ORIGIN modern Greek, literally cake or pie ; compare with Turkish pide, in a similar sense (Burek).

or is it?

Pain In The Ass??? (some kind of preparation for Michaelo doubt with fart bath case and soap)  ???

I know in first place that same acronyms have different and opposite meanings depend from which village is who and in global scale it is big more problem in understanding.
EG
Burek in my language is one sort of PITA and it is tasty meal which dont have any rude connections with (Pain In The Ass) PITA
or like
iSTOCK-a = means CATTLE or LIVESTOCK in little declinations but have this meanings when some value you work like them
or brand name of FORD car KUGA which in my language means Black plague

PLS
Light me up or use more common words for nonnative english speakers...

This is the gallery

Ooooh, they stole my wall fan!

Crap place? Prepare to be introduced (in an exclusive preview) to FD's Gusa Vision Studios! Second only to Vegas Vision Studios as to equipment, atmosphere and facilities!
Midst the lofty surrounds of the breathtaking Mindanao mountains, this gem offers the guests:
Quote
  • state of the art reflectors made of leftovers of the roof insulation (that brings the unbearable 36C down to a comfortable 34C)
  • a professional light tent entirely constructed with prime water tubing leftovers, the best that cheap Chinese import plastic can offer
  • amenities like a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge and a reasonably mouse-free sink (don't eat the poison pellets please)
  • (stay away from my nescaf and creamer though! no kidding)
  • a very high tech calendar and assorted clock to plan your shoots (bring some thumbnails to adjust the calendar)
  • a rock solid table for all your product shoots - strong and stable enough to carry an elephant if there is one in the room (you might have to add some tubing)

Now you might think that this is just a crap layout of a poor guy on his kitchen table. Wrong!
We have an international and worldwide exposure and our shots are sold for up to a full 35 dollarcents (wow!) all over the web!  ;D

Wow
you studio is better than mine  ;D I havent microwave oven, even clock and calendar, and without reflective chinese plastic only aluminum folis  ;D
I will shoot it one time when I find my camera under mess of papers...

Suljo, maybe you are just too old :)

I think in fact Suljo is just too rude, I already have him blocked

Andrew is a truly nice guy, on forums and in person, and I think you will find most people will agree with me on that. The personal attack is distasteful and has no place here...

I always like fake puritans and soul keepers.
So what if he is nice guy, it doesnt mean thay you must bath with him and pick fart bubbles together.
I dont have nothing about them, I just have my opinion in which amateur way is video done from the "best stok site".

@FD-regular
On they "redesign" I only see that they move search window in line with logo  ;D
Maybe site map was flat so if they change few things that dont be called redesign and they will be payed less.
I agree with concept buyers in front but that means that for us will be more painfull.
Why they are not talking about that they will keyword our images and put them in they fairy tale CV, or dont reject our images for few wrong keywords for they 80% of royalty from us?
Everytime is story how to screw us more.

If they make home page for submitters they will drop down in top 500 ww by factor of 2 or 3 on the list and they of course dont like this idea  ;D
Anyhow they will drop down in SEO after redesign and I just can imagine how many bugs and glitches will be after that wannabe "redesign".

Michealo stay well and hold soap well too.  ;D

« on: July 25, 2010, 22:37 »
I have sales of 2 or 3 images multiple times in sam e day and every with they every possible licence which they offer to buyers and earn me in they statistic about 70 $. I just waiting moment when I will be in (-) minus with them and with my statistic. Or maybe it is they gift to me?!?  ;D
I think they have some glitch like DreamsTime when you buy image and then want buy another at different size or licence system gives you the same old image in that new size but not new one choosen image.

istock...arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggh!!!

This is one of reason why I "love" my "fabulous" iStock site

Safari cant open the page https://secure-uploads.istockphoto.com/file_upload.php because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.

Specially when I loose 5-10 mins to manage keywords an cats and see this message.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr

How months/years passes iStock for me seams like car 10 or 15 years old which needs so many maintenance for basic operations?!?
Very professional for wanabee "big dog"

PS: If anyone know how to embed a video who is not from youtube, please help me!

Haw haw
Beardless and yesterday mutated kid and too early baldy guy with wanabee stilish hat are talking about search-find-buy dilemma.
haw haw
I think some of iStock bosses want to dig money out from iStock for invisible redesign so they "hire" kid to pay them provision crumbs for nothing and then he will transfer real mony in they pocket.
BTW that they will bee thousands of bugs and glitches how we will feel that something is going on there.
After all result will be zero  ;D

General Macrostock / Re: Micro vs Macro criteria
« on: July 22, 2010, 22:14 »
I have mostly selled isolated stuff on white on Alamy which is rejected on iStock by they confusive rejections. In same time they dont know is it to rough or too smoth for them  ;D
While that Alamy made about 20% of all income of iStock in this trivial things what they reject in first place.
So iStock is the iStock and I dont need to prove it to anybody.
Just another big step away from exlusivity  ;D

I sign up today. I hope that they review applications much faster than few months before.

Lighting / Re: How much to charge?
« on: July 08, 2010, 22:09 »
look
without numerous pathing there is no easy setups.
From image form competitor web photo is also deeply alerted with clipping path or mask additions. Look at fake shadows on left bed leg, fake glow shadow on carpet etc. so there is not setup at all. Even if he has milky plastic floor with min 10.000 Whs under floor and also this kind off walls with strobes in this strenght.
I think this image is shooted with basic 2 softboxes and isolated with clipping path and after that they drop automatic perspective shadow and thats it + fake some more which are not so logical.
Images above which I posted are from Whirpool and Miele and I think they are much more whealthy than some ordinary furniture producer or even worse if this producers cant or dont give him them they images of they furniture. (which are digitally alerted or not)
Anyhow If you friend is producer of his furniture and want to be higher than where is now he must hire man who will do the pathing job.
With automatic setup I think that didnt work.
Only setup is this 2 or 3 or 4 strobes but without pathing there in no easy results.
Before few years I have job to do similar thing (to do isolations of furniture from nearly same angle as you postit)
and fake room is shooted in company basement with rough concrete floor and behind rough white walls in basement. I will post it if I found it in my archive, but even today with too much processing it is impossible...

Eh
finaly I found it I dont realize that 10 years are passed...
Strip shows 100% of view of quality which are more than accepted this days...

392
Hmmm
I try to track this post from the beginning but dont dig up what is end of story?
Did you earn 2.000 or 1.000.000 bucks?
Did you sell them copyright or full owner???

or in this one...
DL images and open in photoshop and see how many path selections they have for improving.
if you see other small gadget shots you will see much more selections when somebody forget to delete them.

Lighting / Re: How much to charge?
« on: July 08, 2010, 20:00 »
I think that there is no way/chance to make setup aka MakeItGood for this kind of stuff.
Heres a few examples. Look at number of Paths/isolations for partial corrections/additions what they applied for this shoots in path window.

Can somebody know short cut how to select different gradient. OK selecting basic Gradient tool is letter G but how to select eg Radial or other type of gradient only with keys, without clicking?

Also is it possible to select in that way eg if you are on brush tool to select Darken or Multiply option for brush tool?

« on: July 04, 2010, 22:04 »
This is my open bets from early stage of championship.
I invest 50$ in Bets who will be the first.
After @ is multiplier of stake so as you see I prefer Germany to be first.
For secure in early days I invest small amount on poor rated countries and if Uruguay wins I will make about 126 x 0,50 + 11 x 4 + 6,5 x 1,28 $
If Germany will be first I will make 9,5 x 1 + 8 x 2,47 + 6,5 x 8,24 + 6,5 x 1,78 + 3 x 25 $
I have left 5$ for live in play in situations if Germany score first goal than multiplier on Spain will rise btw 11 and 100 so in this case I will invest btw 2 and 3$ on Spain, this also will be if Uruguay score first goal vs Netherlands to secure me if Spain an Netherlands win at the end.
Any how I will make profit if Uruguay or Germany will bee first. Any how with small stakes in cases above I will be on small minus or small plus depends of multipliers.
Worst scenario is if Netherlands and Spain score first and win matches.
I hope that I will not loose my "investment"  ;D
