whopping .30 sale at DT...no reflection in the records. As long as it's not pulled away, I'll take it.

wow dude...wonder what country you live in....you seem very tweaked. Love this country (USA), war was a mistake, but you really tilt toward some hard words, I'm sure you live in the "perfect" country with a bliss govt....chill just a bit please....

thx Leaf for letting this roll...

How selfish and cowardly! You accidentally (and the statistics show Americans agree it was an accident) start a war which kills thousands of people and devastates a great culture. Then you arent even prepared to pay for it with your own soldiers, and instead want to run away and forget about it. What a shame this isnt the great WW2 generation that only fought wars that it needed to, and was prepared to sacrifice it's young for it's ideals. The macho retoric was similar. What a shame America doesnt have the stomach to live up to it!

FYI, none of that statement is true (regarding myself) in any measure...please do not speak for Americans, unless you are one...and don't assume you speak for ALL of us even if you are.

A few tips on shooting chrome from Strobist:
http://strobist.blogspot.com/2008/01/reader-spotlight-paul-morton.html

Short version:
Don't light the chrome ... light what the chrome "sees".
Wow...I think that nails it...a bit of work but "lighting what the chrome sees" seems to be the best way to do this.

Peco, it's not truly a "sphere" but a 1960's VW hubcap (pre-VW emboss stamping), so about a foot and a half wide and its reflection is equal to a fisheye mirror.

Thanks folks. I knew this wasn't going to be easy and I truly appreciate your help.

I just spoke with a gent at Wolf and he said his best success was shooting "long range" with a telephoto (reducing the amount of you and camera, then excercising your Photoshop skills to remove it). Otherwise he said "good luck"  :-X

The white cloth sounds like the best idea for reducing surrounding reflections - I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

384
This is perplexing me so I thought I'd check to see if anyone has any good ideas on how to shoot a mirrored (chrome) sphere...like a large ball bearing without refelecting the camera or alot of other stuff?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This week, I had one photo rejected at Dreamstime for being out of focus - yet 4 other agencies accepted the image... Does that mean i can come on here and claim that Dreamstimes inspectors have something against me or are doing something wrong?

Sure you can...that's what an open forum is for. Doesn't mean it will do anything positive OR negative, but it is surely your right to come in and vent. You certainly know that if Seren's comment were made on the LO forum that it would quickly be squelched....and her comment would only have been "slanderous" (maybe), if she had given the reviewer' name.
ah the freedom of speech! ;D

I've only got aprox 125 images, no DL's, lots of "views", but once the image falls off the radar, the views decrease dramatically (due to the inane "rating" system). Will give them another month and will delete portfolio after that. The rating thing will potentially cost them their existence.

Flemish - congrats on your sales.

It works fine for me.

Sometimes it causes my IE broswer to crash, but not today.
IE crash periodically for me as well...but BDE today on their site...i like that.

same here, but that's kind of how things work..no method to the madeness

One positive aspect in MP for the buyer is the 100% zoom.  They can easily scan the whole image.

The "Zoom" feature stopped working for me about 6 weeks ago. Nothing on MY end changed... (sigh).

Hey,

One month at FP = 1.75 years at LO  ;D

Mostphotos.com / Re: really starting to hate your "ratings" system
« on: February 28, 2008, 17:54 »
I am repeating myself here, I've grown tired of saying this over at the MP forums.  I do not want my image placements in the match algorithims being influenced by what my "peers" think.  The search placement is influenced by the MPI, the MPI is influenced by the votes received, and even worse..the more voting someone does, be that voting good, bad or indifferent, the higher their profile rating goes and the more weight their vote counts when it comes to my images. therefore all the ratings and comments, although "hidden" from the buyer directly affect whether or not my images will even be seen amid the rest.
No matter how you try to justify it, the rating system is a very poor design and should not figure into the search engines at all.
amen

I still find their "pro-photog" business model a "good thing" and will continue to upload religiously.

The company, the largest stock photo site on the web,

Is that true???

Beside that, in my opinion, this is a valid reason to cancel a contract.

I wonder why they are all so reluctant to change front page images more often. I don't know how difficult thing that is to do (as I am not a web designer or a technician) but it shoudn't be too much hassle to give fresh looks to their front pages.

Hey, they're not the worst...StockXpert just changed THEIR home page image (remember that dang rainbow?) that was up for at LEAST a year...and theirs isn't even animated. In their defense (I'm a web graphics designer), it is fairly laborious to select, crop, and code "rotating" graphics all of the time...and merry easter valentine's to all as well :P

I started to change prices on FP some weeks ago. I sold a picture  that I had change to 10 dollar but I just get 2 dollar for it
I tried to contact FP 3 times but they don't answer me.
Do anyone know whats going on at FP or is this common when you change the price on pictures that you got paid for the old price
/lena

It is possible that they purchased a "smaller" version??? (if you allow "re-sizing)?

Arian,

Is there any reason the "zoom" feature doesn't work? I'm on IE6 and pop ups are allowed.

Thx
