dont give up the street lamps. I hear they are going to be huge in 2010 I know I have a few I am hopping will finally pay off.
thanks for the heads up, guys. i'm going to try and get in on the action before it really heats up. actually, i've been into football stadium lights lately, but i send them to the more arty sites.

Hi AP,
The peace sign emblem is a cool idea. Some cars better than others. I think it would replace the Mercedes logo perfect but I don't know if you'd be sending mixed messages : ) I found this site today that has some awesome VW vans for sale. Makes me wanna get one and take off. Here is the link. http://www.vintagevwcars.com/vw-buses-for-sale.htm
Best, Jonathan
thanks for the link. being so mechanically challenged, i'd probably opt for their latest model (which is only made for europe ), but these are sure pretty to look at or to photograph. cool photo, by the way (i like the oversized bow). you sure can pass as pres. obama's twin brother (back when he had afro).

Why don't they do what they would really like to and make IS exclusive only?
i've wondered about this too. but in this latest announcement, they made it clear that they need to cater to the cheaper end of the market (after listening to their customer wants) and voila, we independents fit the bill. i guess the istock exclusives who are not yet vetta enough are like the middle class being squeezed everywhere.

My question is what if a photographer comes up with some great "Original Idea" and submits it only to find out (due to lack of research) that someone else has previously submitted a nearly identical image?
This new photographer did not "copy", as they thought that their shot was original. Some concepts are just so easy to visualize that some repetition becomes inevitable even without copying.
this happens all the time, with artistic creations, writings, and inventions. it would really be down to a race with time in terms of not only who originated it first, but can prove it with registered copyright and patents or simple publication. in this case, the macrostocker who hired the attorney obviously feels he has the proof in terms of a much older portfolio.

I lived in Volkswagen van for a year once. Best time of my life. Not in the sixties or even seventies, more like the early nineties but I think everyone should give it a go.
i would love to do that! did you travel a lot with it? or was it just parked outside your house?

it can be as fast as a few hours, for both acceptance and rejection.

i don't really see them as a stock agency more than an artsy gallery focusing on real photography (rather than the photoshopped to death red bubble) that's moody and experimental. i can definitely see some of the works on music cd covers (for alternative music) and lots of artsy publications that won't be using istock images.
but the sales are good as reported by others. i just got another one for an even bigger size, really makes up for the rejections.

I am a loser at this uploading images. I am sure it is simple but I don't get it. Tried posting to a separate url and pasting in the url and hitting image button but no picture. I know it is me, as long as I have blamed computers I find 99% of the time its me : )
Thanks for the help Lisa,
Best, Jonathan
maybe you can email your photo to someone (you trust) who'll post it for you. but, it's like this: 1) press insert image link 2) then insert your url address in between the two [img] brackets otherwise, we know you don't have no picture.

She has a RedBubble account too. I noticed that the work in question is not for sale there however.
i remembered there were a lot of discussions at red bubble about artists using stock photos as a basis for their 'art'. searching for 'stock photo' in their forum, it seems like it's quite a prevalent thing whether they realize it's violating copyright or not. http://www.redbubble.com/groups/redbubble/forums/posts/search?q=stock+photo&commit=Search+the+Forumsi myself am still not clear about this. does an el clear up the whole matter or does it have to cover a pod specifically?

SOLD ONE! And I've had only four accepted. Still can't figure out what they want but the one that sold was an image of a coal-burning power generating station in Page, Arizona. 1.20 Euro.
+1 wow, we seem to be in lock step with each other. 4 photos, one (real) sale, 2 (credit) sales, numerous rejects (for me). congrats, twin!

welcome back!
this is like a parallel universe where people are shuttering in between dimensions. i think there are still people back on the old server, but i can no longer access it!

well at 4 images so far, it's not much of a port to look at yet. My fireworks shot seems to have alot of an "interestingness" factor though.
mine are sailboats. 4 too!

if it's dt, then you don't need to provide a mr for a body part. i know it's annoying, but at the same time they don't want the mr either. as for other sites, i have yet to come across one that requires mr for body parts.

inspired by perry, i resubmitted 4 images that were rejected by ss in the last few weeks. they all got through today!
i don't know what fotolia's policy is, but resubmissions are not banned at ss, is or dreamstime. if you can correct the original problem, then by all means do so.
but i think perry's point is that the review process is reviewer driven and you'll get different results each time.

I also noticed a change of focus in one of the tracks (hospital room) from the foreground (laptop) to the background (senior in hospital bed). Can you actually do that on a 5DMKII? (changing focus point while recording).
yep, and on the new 7d also. i have a nikon d90 and it doesn't have autofocus for video, so it's another reason to switch soon.

Lol turns out that those 4 were the only ones accepted from the 22, so I guess I don't have them figured out like I thought I did. Back to my portfolio with my tail between my legs...
actually, that makes me feel a lot better. for a minute i thought we had an artistic genius in our midst. i started out batting 1 in 6, now it's down to 1 in 20. arghhh! love to see your port.
