My SS payment address was also blank...

That is great news!

😃

But now someone pointed out that there is a vat problem if you are a European contributor? Is that true?

That the sale is directly between me and the customer, not envato as an agency, and that means I have to check every sale for vat issues.

Anybody here know more about this?

This thread regarding Evanto tax reporting is worth considering before uploading:

I've never seen an agency that's worth going exclusive for.  Best to keep your eggs in several baskets.

I had the same login problem.  Deleting the (firefox) istock cookies seems to have worked.

@Peter, I think it's amusing that all of these people are telling you that this was a drone shot. And none of them were there but you, and you can probably PROVE that it's a legit shot from an aircraft...and yet they still say "no way." That takes balls! :)

Good grief.

See post #6. He says it isn't his shot. But he says it is legit. Maybe he is getting his info from metadata, or knows who did shoot it? He doesn't say how he knows, so it is all speculation, on everyone's part. And my posts are only addressing the fact that it was shot, not how it was shot. All I am concerned about is safety for everyone in the airspace.

PS. I don't have balls.  ;)

The assertion that the shot in question must have been taken illegally, or at a minimum in a dangerous manner, is quite bothersome to me. Yeh it's fun to discuss it from an academic perspective, but the fact is, those making those assertions don't have the facts, and even when presented with details, seem to be incapable of accepting them.

Peter

Airports route cross traffic directly overhead perpendicular to the runways.  This creates the maximum altitude differential between cross traffic and landing - taking off aircraft.  The perspective looks legally obtainable (from a piloted aircraft or helicopter) to me.

I hope we are getting paid for all the free images

If it's subscription sales only I'm glad to be auto-opted out.

I deleted my Panther portfolio last year to escape their (no opt out-able) partner program.

I'm opted out of partner programs at Big Stock.  I WISH I could opt out at Fotolia/Adobe.

My port is there too.  The image details are showing fotolia watermarks.

I voted yes, I'll consider it.  My opt in opt out decision will largely be based on the percentage of revenue assigned to the artists.  It would need to be at least 50% to entice me to participate.  However, I don't anticipate this amounting to a major revenue boost.

It's a smart decision.  Looking forward to adding my RF editorial collection to Alamy.

I would like to see a stocksy-ish site created for us plebs.

Getty has nothing to fear from 500px!

Did you ever think Getty has something to fear from 500px? It is partly funded by Visual China Group which has a long standing partnership with Getty Images that was just deepened by the Corbis deal.

Now a former Getty manager is hired by 500px to head the market.

Can't you guess already what the next exciting news will be? Let me write it for you:

"We are excited to announce a partnership with Getty Images that will allow more customers to see and buy your content. Of course you will still receive your usual 30% of the 20% Getty pays us. But you know what? We might drop the weekly upload limit, so you can give us your images faster than ever."

Sorry to disappoint, but no Getty deals on the horizon.

Kelly

I'd like to welcome Mr. Thompson to this forum...

Maybe they can afford a watermark now...

As a photographer still cannot go with their watermark problem.

The lack of an optional watermark is the only thing holding me back.  As it is right now they are a go to site for thieves.

Would have to be a mistake

Maybe it's an adjustment on a earlier sale?

They can bury me as low as they want.  No free photos... ever.

Makes me glad I stopped uploading there.

Smart move by Adobe.  Glad to see DPC perish.

They have been a pleasant agency to work with.  However, I wish they would add a opt out for their partner program.  I don't trust partner programs and opt out where possible.

422
I wish there was an opt out.

There is no obligation to sell footage at Shutterstock. You can opt out.

I do not want to opt out of all footage sales.  Shutterstock's video return per download does varies greatly.  I would like an opt out of lowest end deals.

423
I wish there was an opt out.

424
"30 million photos and nearly two million video clips".....  added....  ouch.

425
Opted out.
