Hello everybody.
I usually use the tool of this web: http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php for take the word for my clips, and I usually fill the 50 words that the agencies leave to put... But now (after read in the Pond 5 suggestion for authors that the recommends to put around 10-20 an focusing in the topic) I am wondering if I did wrong, and If I had to change my clips and start to putting just 20 instead 50 words... I dont know, Ho do you do guys? Thanks!
So far I try to put 35-50 but I am not sure if that's okay. I have read that 35 is enough in some Adobe stock (Latin America) webinars. Has anyone made any comparison about it? Between assets with less and more tags

Hey guys, is it allowed to submit the same content to Eyeem and Istock, since they both sell the content on Getty?
I asked them about that once and they told me in EyeEm that since they don't make sure if the photo is in Getty via istock the best thing is to upload different stuff but on the other hand if an EyeEm picture is accepted to Getty they change the Metadata so maybe they would appear in different type of searchings.

I just made a 0.29 "single & other" sell... It's like a sub what?

Maybe you can upload some to see if the sell and if they do maybe expand it but uploading a bunch of the same without even knowing if it's gonna work maybe it's a waste of time

Getty works like a garden slug. It takes forever for them to ruin all the metadata you so carefully put into the title, description and keywords It takes months (although it is variable). My last uploads were in September and they made it to Getty mid-December.
You will get email from EyeEm when it's live: "Your Photo Is Live on Getty Images. We're happy to let you know that your photo is officially live on Getty Images, significantly increasing your chances of selling it. Congratulations!"
You'll see the Selected for Partner change to "Partner Collection" on EyeEm. Selected for just means that EyeEm thinks it should go to Getty.
Thanks a lot! Is there a chance that Getty doesn't accept the selected for partner photo? Or it's very likely that a selected for aprnet would be in parter collection in some months?

Ah okay i get it ! So under my profile i have 267 photos but under licensing i have 43, does that mean 43 were accepted to Getty?
If you see them in "core collection", yes (they also have a premium collection I don't know how that work). I have the same number next to licensing but not sure if that's how it actually works; I just started with 500px recently. Maybe anyone can confirm if that's enough?

i have 24 MP camera and i know that people that have 40+ MP downsize images for better quality, i am not sure if i should do the same, what are your thoughts on image sizes since i am limited to 24 MP.
I think you are asking if you should upsize your images to be larger than the 24MP of the camera. If so, the answer is a VERY CLEAR NO.
Upload "full size" images. That is, all the pixels remaining after you have cropped during editing. However, DO NOT try to fake a larger image than is actually there. That is expressly against the rules of pretty much every serious agency, and will get you banned if caught.
I guess the op is asking about if it's a good idea to downsize photos from 40 to 24

Thanks for fast reply ! I am also uploading to 500px, do i have to nominate pictures which i want for getty or do they decide from all uploaded ones?
As far as I know, you can select which one to license (every time you upload a new one click in license) and you see if they get accepted in the manage photos tab in your profile.

Hello, i have started uploading to Istock i have few questions since i found this forum so active and helpful ! 1. Where can i see which images have been downloaded so far i could only find monthly downloads at the end of the next month, but i couldn't see which photos sold 2. what video format istock accepts? 3. Can only exclusive users get their photos accepted to Getty images?
Thanks !!
1. You can't. Only monthly reports. 2. Mov 3. Yes. You can use 500px or EyeEm to get to Getty tho.

I guess if it's a generic and seasonal asset maybe they can work for other times but if it's a specific event it would be good if you upload that fast.

How can you check your name in Getty if you only upload via EyeEm?
Because EyeEm tells you when your images are live on Getty and gives you a link, so you can then see that (and all others) with your credit. I keep a link to my EyeEm images on Getty as a bookmark as (a) it's a hassle to search and (b) Getty edits keywords, as well as mangling user names. Generally they remove most of the useful ones regarding location.
Getty is completely useless and impervious to any sort of suggestions regarding improvements. They have a rather feudal approach to the photographer - they know and you don't and their system rules.
I wouldn't worry about it as I doubt it will do you much harm - and correcting it probably wouldn't do your sales elsewhere much good either Most advertising uses don't include a credit anyway.
If you have a blog, write a post about the name mix-up and that will at least associate both names with you and your portfolio in search engines. The key thing is for someone to find you if they're looking, misspelling or no...
Thanks for your answer Jo. I thought when the pictures said "selected for partner" they have been already added to Getty. So far I haven't received any link from Getty. My first "selected for partner" photo was like 2 months ago, does it take longer than that? What "selected for partner" mean then if they are not actually in Getty?

Before I decide to let this go, I wanted to see if this group had suggestions or have ever heard of this happening. When EyeEm first started, I set up an account and submitted some of my cell phone pix. (That's actually how I started in microstock before submitting to other sites recommended here and sending in higher quality pix.) Long story short, after having some success in selling, I looked up my sold images on Google. I discovered that some purchasers actually choose to give me a personal credit line, however, they were spelling my name incorrectly. I soon learned that it wasn't their fault. It seems that somewhere in the set up Getty and EyeEm managed to mangle my last name. (My EyeEm profile is spelled correctly, by the way). With decreasing returns on download rates, it seems to me that the lowest low is that your name can't be updated in the system. I've gone back and forth and EyeEm says Getty and Getty says EyeEm. I've tried the argument that they are attributing the image to the wrong photographer and just really looks bad on their end. I'm at a lost (and have figured I'm screwed.) In hindsight, I should have checked how Getty was displaying my EyeEm info (newbie mistake). This too, is part of the reason I've avoided submitting anything directly to Getty. They can't even get a simple name right? So, if anything, this is a message to be sure your data is correct on the partner sites--even if the home contributor site is correct, your name may not be.
How can you check your name in Getty if you only upload via EyeEm?

I use my iphone and DSLR for stock photos. My DSLR takes better photos, but I like my iphone if I need to be a little more discrete, like in a store or market. I can make a decent photo of fruit or other products quickly and easily.
My iphone has limitations. It is too noisy to make decent twilight photos. And, if I have to zoom, I just forego the photo, as it will also be too noisy.
Good point which I've found true. If you need any zoom, using a phone, it's probably not going to be any good. Also same for anything without "good" lighting. That may have changed but I've had a bunch of phones and the iPhone works about the best, still can't beat optical zoom, bigger sensor or settings like ISO.
I won't say phones are bad. They just aren't as good.
Indeed. Low light and zoom is a main problem in phone cameras but they continue working with that. New Huawei p30 is probably going to have 10X zoom and a very low light sensor.
Cool! $1,000 for a phone that makes photos? I still want a camera that makes phone calls!
Not as dumb as it sounds, (but it is mostly humor) lets say, a DSLR that I can upload directly to a news service or agency? Doesn't have to have all the fancy phone stuff, just the ability to log onto the web and send photos. Phone would be nice, just in case I was out shooting and wanted to order pizza?
That's true. That phone is going to be 600 probably but yes

"Computational photography" is still very young. For example, Huawei started to implement AI in its Leica cameras but I don't like it at all. I just like the supermacro but for example "vegetation" and "food" is just oversaturation of the photo.
That usually happens when you don't shoot Raw. Shoot raw and you will be able to saturate your photos as much as you like.
Yes. Or just disabling the AI thing.

Just the last Huawei has 3 cameras with different capabilities. It's not going to replace any professional camera but they are very good. I don't understand why sites such as Alamy restrict them. In the US you only have like Apple and other companies, and while they are good, they are not the best (Huawei, Xiaomi, etc)

SS knows when I upload similar content but don't know when somebody uploads exactly the same image stolen from another contributor. That's strange! When they catch a thief why they don't distribute the remaining royalties in his account to the actual creators of the images?! I know it's easier to keep the money for themselves but is it legal?! Another question comes to my mind. What about the customers who bought the images from the thieves, do they have a legal license to use the images when the creators doesn't get paid?!
Indeed!

I had this problem suddenly come up at 29.97 frame rates. I started submitting at 30 fps and never had another problem. I think it may be how their programs are reading the metadata and perhaps rounding off.
I'm going to export in 30 fps even if the software suggest 29.97, to see if SS stop making problems
It's highly recommended to export in the same frame rate as you shot it. There is no zero reason to nudge frame rates on export.
I checked. Apparently it records at different fps near 29.97 so that's why the software suggest 29.97 as the best match.
You should be able to set your recording frame rate to 29.97 or 30 or 25 or 23.98 or 24 and your software should be able to export at whatever you recorded at.
Phones cannot be trusted to do as they're told, unfortunately. Many videos I've examined myself were of course set to 29.97 or 30, but in reality, if the phone can't handle it, it will lower the frame rate to 28 or something else.
You need to double check every video you film with a phone and use an application that can force the video to play back at a standard frame rate.
Simply choosing "export at 30" does not necessarily fix the problem. Depending on the application, it may just add 2 extra (duplicate) frames each second, resulting in stuttering.
You probably need to use a professional application like After Effects, where you can choose to "Interpret" each clip at a standard frame rate. If it was filmed at 28 fps for example, AE will then speed it up slightly so it plays back at 30, or slow it down to 25 or 24, your choice.
Thanks a lot! I will take into account that recommendation.

can I just add : it's a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) NOT a a DLSR !!
If ur having a problem with that, then I suggest U stick with ur phone cam
Sure, it's DSLR. But was your "witty" remark necessary? If you came to any conclusion about me based on typos on the forum that says more about you than about me.
And I don't know why the "stick with your phone camera"

I know right? But it seems like I can't set that on my phone. I can set the export fps tho but it suggest 29.97 to "match the fps content" but the original files are in different values between 29.8 and 30. Weird.
