The star is accepted at DT, IS, 123RF, Cutcaster, Canstockphoto, Featurepix, and Yaymicro for now. But I will delete the image from those sites anyway. Thanks guys!

Regarding composition, pols on the fence should be vertical instead of skewed left. Because of that, the house is skewed in the same manner. If you wanted to shoot a horse, you should come closer and avoid the fence.

Ok, I'll try to explain the song in few sentences. But it's really just a simple ballad, lyrics are nothing special. So, the song title is "Fifth Night" and it's telling about a guy who counts nights after his girlfriend left him. The rain is falling for five nights already and he feels he won't see his sunshine again.
Native English speakers sometimes use the term "sunshine" to say "you are my sunshine"... right?? We use it too.

I am totally with you on this point. I resisted DeepMeta for 5 years, and finally broke down this year and started using it, but it is really ridiculous to have to have third party software installed just to upload. I too hope they make that a little bit easier in the new version. Two reasons (but I don't have vectors or sound, just photos): 1 - when the upload fails (very regularly), deepmeta will keep retrying in the background without you having to go thru all the keywords and stuff again. Sometimes, it takes 4 retrys. 2 - when you have a large batch, you can all prepare them in deepmeta, and let them in the queue; whenever there is a free slot, you can just upload with one click.
But if I were uploading directly to their site, would there be a need for retrying? In 6 years of uploading to other sites, I have never had issues uploading (except when the whole site is down).
What iStock should really do is maintain a release library. Think of all the lost bandwidth when you have to upload the release every time...
That's a good point. This would definitely be a good improvement.
That would be a very good point in earlier times Now, you have to upload new model release for every new photo session, which means, you can't use model releases remembered in any kind of MR library (Unless you produce hundreds of images of the same session that could use one MR which you could upload and associate it with that exact session) For people like me, who have only few images from every, so called "photo session", it doesn't make any difference if there is MR library or not.

I was going to say that I play guitar, but when I sow Dreamframer's video and Simsi's songs I decided to stay quiet.
I see this will be more than a band... more like a real orchestra

I sing and put it on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/user/IngerAnna
That was beautiful! It seems there is a fair amount of musicians here, mostly singers tho. Lisa sings too... I sing and compose. We could make a band and earn some extra money, lol I used to fly with paraglider, but I had to sell it to buy a camera. I love playing with my son and my nephew. I'm taking them to the country side very often. We walk there and they always have million questions for me. Here is the only video of my band that I managed to save and upload to youtube. It was 10 years ago. I can't believe I'm posting this here, but here I go.

Who knows, maybe someone bought your image on IS, and someone else saved it and used it in his blog... Most people who make blogs are ordinary people who don't even think they should buy images instead of saving them from Internet. Having a blog is free, having an email address is free etc. People think nice images are free too. Why it's possible to save them so easily if they are not free? People still look at me like I'm from Mars when I say that I'm selling images on Internet. They always ask same few questions: What?? How?? To who?? Most people think that all images in magazines are taken especially for the magazine they hold in their hands at the moment.

I also submitted the star to IS, and it was rejected because of sharpening (I added some I admit). There was nothing about the copyright in the rejection reason. Also, I guess they would do something with images that are already uploaded and selling. If they are copyrighted, they would have to delete them anyway...I guess.

I found those stars on all big agencies. Some of them have more than 1500 dl's. I doubt this would pass unnoticed by Istock for example..

you can't copyright a star, but the owners of that particular star may be able to claim copyright on images of it, and trademark is another possibility
But all stars look the same. Is it possible to claim copyright if you don't know which name was on the star, especially after cloning out everything...the star itself it's not the same anymore.

I uploaded one of the stars from the Walk of Stars from Palm Springs (it's the same thing as Walk of Fame in Hollywood). I erased the name of the artist and the palm tree sign bellow it, so the star was empty. Some sites accepted it without problems, but some of them rejected it because of a possible copyright problem. I expected this to happen, and I tried to find some info on Internet about it, but I didn't find anything about an empty star and copyright, so I decided to upload anyway. The star was first rejected at SS, but then I found the same stars on SS. Some of them were editorial, and others were not. It also easy to find those stars on IS and other agencies. Could anyone please tell me if the star is copyrighted? Here is one example of the star on SS which is accepted and it's NOT selling as editorial: My star is accepted at 4 agencies for now, and rejected at 2 (SS and BS) This is my star at CanStockPhoto: Ironically, there is a Canstockphoto logo on it

I think they will start to implement things in August. Not all things at the same time, but one by one.

Yes Lisa, Basic meaning of the term "iStock" is a livestock. People are using the term normally when they talk about domestic animals like cows, pigs etc. But when you say that someone is "iStock" that means what I said before. Someone who is "iStock" probably acts like a pig.

For images I use DeepMeta, and it really makes it easier. But when I have to upload audio... the story is different.
For example, let's say I uploaded an audio file, and I have to add data. If I add 51 instead of 50 keywords and click submit, it will go through whole process of uploading talent release, and it will return back to tell me that I have one keyword more. Also, it forgets if the file is a composition or a sound effect, and it forgets the key and the tempo of the music.... Things like this should really be simpler. At least, it should remember what I wrote before hitting submit button. It could also give me a warning that I entered one keyword more in real time, or at least at the moment of hitting submit button.
The worst thing is when after submitting you see only a blank page, which means that you have to do the complete process from the beginning. And this happens at least once every 10 files, which is very annoying. I hope they will fix some of these things now. I hope they didn't bring their focus only on buyers needs (I know buyers are most important tho..)

I'll try to explain more precisely what Suljo means when he says "iStock" instead of Istock. I think the best comparison in English would be "*insult removed*". I mean, when we say for someone that he is "iStock", that means he is the most primitive, rude, not always stupid, but mean person without any feelings for people around him.
I hope the term "iStock" is more clear to everybody here now.
Obviously Suljo, you really hate Istock. I always wondered why you hate them so much? Is it because of rejection rate, or something else? Do they reject your images mostly because of keywords or not? It confuses me a bit that you have decent sales there, and yet you are very angry at them. Maybe you explained in some thread why you feel that way, but I missed it.

play a little with soft light and overlay mode and see what suits better.

Recently I submit images like this, and they get accepted without problems. Someone will say they are overfiltered, but unless you are messing with tiny details on the image you should be just fine.
You don't have to saturate colors so much. This was just an example. But I often do it and they don't get rejected.

Lighten the image on the left side. It's pretty dark there. Also, lighten the whole image a bit, and increase saturation just a little bit. Be careful not to make too much noise if you don't have some noise reduction software.

I wonder why IS didn't give submitters their own page, submit.istockphoto.com. In that case, you don't have to make compromises on the landing page. It works well for Shutterstock.
I agree. That would be awesome

Here is a video about the new design with Rogermexico and the designer
http://vimeo.com/channels/istock
PS: If anyone know how to embed a video who is not from youtube, please help me!
Haw haw Beardless and yesterday mutated kid and too early baldy guy with wanabee stilish hat are talking about search-find-buy dilemma. haw haw I think some of iStock bosses want to dig money out from iStock for invisible redesign so they "hire" kid to pay them provision crumbs for nothing and then he will transfer real mony in they pocket. BTW that they will bee thousands of bugs and glitches how we will feel that something is going on there. After all result will be zero
Suljo, maybe you are just too old
