General Stock Discussion / Re: Any sales at Picfair?

Had two sales one in October and one in November the good thing is they have no minimum payout so as soon as the sale is made you can request the funds.

By the way, have you guys received the Feb payment yet?

Usually I received the payment in the first week of the month.

Yes. My bank received the money on Feb 6th

But on the thread topic, the only uncertainty is how long it will take for things to change for the worse for contributors at Alamy, not whether they will change. Acquisitions always make rosy promises up front and tighten the screws shortly thereafter.

And no doubt Alamy will be expected to pay for its acquisition so the money has to come from somewhere.

No doubt the philanthropic causes will go and then they'll come after the contributors.

Oh well stand by for more exciting news which involves contributors being screwed yet again :(

How much do they pay?

Peanuts ~ why? looking for a job? ;D

General Stock Discussion / Re: Shutterstock vs Adobe Stock
« on: February 10, 2020, 04:35 »
Coincidence that since shutterstock introduced the new improved contributor portfolio view in December that sales have crashed?

In my case by 40-50%  :'(

The chinese don't buy stock images  ;)

According to your prejudice. But infact they do buy stock, so much so that ss tailors their search specifically for buyers in China.

A joke hence winking eye ~  ;)  ;D

« on: February 04, 2020, 06:03 »
Keep trying to use the keyword tool but it comes up with nothing except for a couple of common searches the vast majority don't come up with anything "No Images Found"

Is there anything wrong admin?

aaaw how cute, rinder fanboys, lol, amazes me how many gullible people still fall for this 100yr old senior photographer making 50k per shoot yet still complaining about stocksites making 25 cents , cant make it up bwhahahaaaaa

Unbelievable you really dig up a 3 month old thread about quitting istock just to throw insults about Larin Rinder?

Just grow up  ::)

No but then I removed my Alamy photos from distributor sales back in April 2019.

You can do the same in April 2020

I also opted-out in April 2019 and still get distributor sales in January 2020.
Three actually and my only sales so far this year.
They said they were still available in distribution at the time they were licensed.

Yes I had some of those supposedly a bulk deal from China I wrote to Alamy and they said it was a long developing project or some such.

I am pissed off they let customers use our product without recompense until months later

123RF / Re: Is it the end of 123rf
« on: January 30, 2020, 13:51 »
One thing is sure, that's not the beginning anymore...

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Winston Churchill  ;D

Though in 123rf's case.....  ;D

Shutterstock.com / Re: Is this January especially low for you?
« on: January 28, 2020, 17:19 »
Unless a miracle happens SS will finally be at number two position instead of one.

January sales qty is as usual however revenue has dropped 50% and is the lowest now since 2014 due to the lack of ODD's & SOD's

445
How SS accepted these without a (legitimate) press pass is beyond me.

Whole account comprises of stolen images...

How shutterstock went from a decent agency to an outfit that can't control jack sh*t is also beyond me :D

446
without ITIN some agencies really took 30% of US sales few years back ;)

Which agencies?  Do clarify.

As I said above you don't need an ITIN if you are a foreign contributor.  Just complete the W-8BEN form and so long as your country has a tax treaty with the USA you'll
be subject to that.

447
Hello,
I am selling some images for about ten years now. When I started, I needed ITIN number to claim tax treaty benefits (otherwise US sales was cut by 30% - I am from EU - Czech Republic). How is it now? Do I still need ITIN (I am asking because my ITIN will expire soon, so I want to know if I need to get a new one).
Thanks for help

If you are completing a W-8BEN tax form then no you do not need an ITIN you merely use your local tax identification number like a national insurance number or similar in the Foreign tax identifying number (box number 6)

Most of the agencies like Shutterstock and Adobe Dreamstime etc allow you to complete your details using their online tax forms.  Those forms do not require an ITIN.

You mentioned "When I started, I needed ITIN number to claim tax treaty benefits"  however I would say you were incorrect and never needed an ITIN unless of course if you were residing in the USA at the time.

Should people come here trolling for customers,

Same here, read the link. https://www.backyardsilver.com/2020/01/blog-will-continue-as-before/

This is the reason I quit most of the forums that discuss microstock issues - microstockers (in a lot of cases) is an emotional nasty bunch of people who are looking to jump on one another and eat each other alive without even trying to employ an iota of rational thinking.

Who ever said people were rational? Humans are emotional beings  ;D

449
oscarcwilliams, do you give away your work? Why don't you upload your entire portfolio to free sites? Surely it serves as inspiration for many others. Or you may want to charge some money for your work. Just maybe.

The difference is Oscar didnt give his work away for free, suck people in, then monetize. He is selling microstock, he always charged. You are comparing apples to oranges. Should people come here trolling for customers, when its supposed to be a forum where people help others? Just like the guy selling books.  ::)

Trolling for customers? Oh c'mon its a couple of bucks!  Get real. ::)

Don't like it then don't pay ~ just don't keep expecting people like Steve to give advice for free to his competitors.

Then why was he here for years, giving advice for free to his competitors? And no, I wouldnt pay. And the purpose of a forum is give advice, and discuss stuff. What are you here for, if not that?

Steve is entitled to do anything he likes with the data and advice he puts on his blog.

You won't pay then good for you ~ perhaps you could write your own blog giving advice for free?  Then you'll be a happy bunny  ;D

Within 5 mins I spotted more than dozen thieves proliferating at SS...

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/red-apple-covered-rain-drops-1522140569?src=-1-1

Just follow the peach trail and it will lead you to many accounts that lead to many more into infinity...

Yep. Something weird about a couple of those thieves' accounts and that is that their account name doesn't appear in the space where it should......... just a grey pulsating rectangle!! Hovering over that grey rectangle with the cursor reveals 2 weird account names...'think4321' and 'OuSs-911'

That usually means that they've been detected and their accounts are in the process of being deleted.

Give it 24 to 48 hours they should be gone  8)
