I'm not Penelope, but I removed my images at Veer about a month ago. Mostly because they weren't earning anything. It took about a week for support to get to it. I'm not aware of any partner sites.
Thanks!

Penelope,

How long did it take you to have your images removed from Veer?  And do you know about any Veer marketplace partner site?

I need to remove my content from Veer too and read this:
"Veer Marketplace will remove your Content from the Site within a thirty (30) day period, and
will use reasonable efforts to cause Content to be removed form the Sites of any affiliates and
partners within sixty (60) days from the removal from the Site."

How do you locate you images on tuweimei.com without knowing Chinese?

Has Fotolia responded to you on this, and if so what did they say?

How do you know that this "partner" can't still sell your images?

1. You may use an online translator.  Google...

2. Yes, may times.  Always the same response: "We apologize for the inconvenience.  We have informed technical department in order to completely remove your files."

3. I don't know. I would have to register.  But as I said above, they sell images through Fotolia, so I don't think they can sell images which have been removed from Fotolia.  They just display them.  But they should not even do that.

General Stock Discussion / Stock images used at ecards site...
« on: January 29, 2010, 21:00 »
Just found a website dedicated to e-cards using stock images: http://www.barbaras-ecards.de/

There I found at least one of mine which seems she took from a site called www.pixelio.de - FREE images   >:(
Many others are from IS (though I don't think she has paid for EL to use them for e-cards)

Take a look and check if you see something known.

Note: The site is in German, but you can use Google translator if you don't speak German

Are you saying you deleted your portfolio at Fotolia, closed the account, and your images are still showing up for sale at a Chinese "partner" site?

If that's what actually happened, and Fotolia doesnt have a sensible explanation, that may mean they've lost control of your images and the "partner" may have full size image files, and not just the ability to show thumbnails produced by Fotolia's servers. And if that turns out to be  true I'll close my account immediately, and I probably won't be the only one.

Yes.  I closed my Fotolia account in August 2009.  And the Chinese partner still has my images.

I've written many letters to Fotolia... still waiting for my images to be removed!

And no, I am not the only one with this problem.

If you remove your files from Fotolia, go first to the chinese partner site and copy all file_IDs they have of your images, so you can check later.  Just use the URL http://www.tuweimei.com/goods.php?id=FILE_ID   and type your file ID where it reads FILE_ID in the URL  (Note: I think tuweimei file id's are not the same as those at Fotolia site)

Having a portfolio removed from Fotolia is not a problem.  However, having your images removed from some Fotolia's partners is a different story.
In my experience, the Chinese partner http://www.tuweimei.com  is the worst.
Now, as they sell images through Fotolia, I don't think they can sell them.  They just display them.

What I wonder is whether this would be a problem to be accepted as IS exclusive.

DREAMSTIME  >:( >:( >:(

At DT faq it reads: "...Once files are disabled, nobody but you or the admin will be able to view/access them. The files will remain in our offline database until all liabilities concerning them are cleared off, then they are automatically deleted..."

That's crap!
Just use the URL http://www.dreamstime.com/comp.php?imageid=FILE_ID&type=1     but change FILE_ID by the file ID you would like to see and you or anyone will see the BIG comp image of the file.

You still have your images on DT at http://www.dreamstime.com/Sugarfoot_info

What do you mean by  "be careful of Keywording at DT" ?

100,000+ images in one week eh? I wonder how may of them....

- dogs dressed up as humans doing things

Working with dogs doing things is NOT EASY!   Getting good results require lots of time, preparation, and patience.

The real problem is contributors sending images which are too close to snapshots.

^^^ but they are getting approved. They'd stop submitting them in bulk if they were rejected.

Yes,  unfortunately, SS is approving them!

This might explain why my sales the last week have been absolutely dismal there.  Seems like all of us that are uploading moderate amounts are just having our images swept away in the flood of others.

This reduced sales volume coupled with apparently the second year in a row without a raise is doing nothing to keep me interested in continuing to submit there.

I think Ichiro is right.  This is unsustainable in the long term.

Ditto!

Well, I think Shutterstock has helped me to take a difficult decision this week...  Going IS exclusive seems to be the best I can do.

Absolute insanity.  These guys are digging their own grave.  "Search Fatigue" will eventually send buyers elsewhere.

Totally agree!  This is not good  :(

There are photographers uploading the same image with just slight variations dozens of times, and Shutterstock is accepting them all !

A search using "newest first" is becoming really annoying.  The same image once and again...

OMG!!! LOL!!! I was (obviously) VERY confused.
Thank you all so much for commenting on my post. I really appreciate it. I dont know if you read my post in the newbie section, but I am an English teacher-- in a very rural area in Japan. I would seriously love to take a class or meet other photographers, but my Japanese is not good enough to do something like that! Plus dont even know if there is anything like that around here in the boonies. (The nearest movie theater is about an hour away on a good dayand costs 20 bucks for a ticket!). If I was back in the states, I would pick up a book from the library, or take a community college class. But unfortunately at the moment I dont have that kind of luxury.
I have tried to find something on the internet to teach me, but I guess I am not carving out sufficient time to do so or finding the right ones. Its also overwhelming with all the information out there on google. Any website recommendations for that photography 101 that I so desperately need??? I guess I just prefer books where you can flip through the pages, and look through the index, or table of contents to find out what you need...  but there are no English book for miles around where I am.

These two books will teach you about exposure and lighting. You can buy them from any online bookstore:
-Exposure and Lighting for Digital Photographers Only. By Michael Meadhra  and Charlotte K. Lowrie
-Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera. By Bryan Peterson

And these sites which even have forum where you can meet people witrh same interests:
http://www.studiolighting.net/
http://www.photoflexlightingschool.com/
http://strobist.blogspot.com/

464
... BTW, you had your shutter speed set to 1/100.  Not your aperture.  Take some time to read up on how your camera works.

That's the best advice.

I don't mean to offend you snappyhappy, but honestly... it seems you know nothing about photography.  :(

You should read some good  books, search information on the web or find a local school.

Good luck!

Maybe the reviewer is right.  We can't judge or express an opinion if you don't post an example.

And sjlocke is right: PS .jpg slider goes to 12

iStockPhoto.com / Re: To go exclusive or not?
« on: January 19, 2010, 12:15 »
If you choose to go exclusive be extremely careful deleting your files.  Partner sites like pixmac are slow to remove files.  I deleted my files from fotolia two weeks ago and had my istock application rejected because pixmac still had them  I'd never even heard of them.

Am now stuck waiting for the 90 day rule.  Hope there is a way around it.

It would be good to have a list of these partner sites so we can check them.

Partner sites, and what you have to do get rid of your images on them, have been talked about many times - here's an example:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/exclusive-preparations

Too bad you didn't check here first.

But with Fotolia's partner sites is not easy.   I closed my Fotolia account some months ago and some Fotolia partner sites still display my images   >:(    All images have been removed from the portfolios, but the URLs of each image are still online, and Google has them indexed already.

And this happen to anyone who removes images from Fotolia, not just me.  Partner sites do not remove individual URLs.!

I've contacted Fotolia many times, and they always say they will be removed... but nothing happens.

467
I can't understand why people do that.

Thanks for telling us cclapper.

468
It's one more reason to remove portfolios from cheap sites!

And one more reason to consider IS exclusivity.

469
I just mention this, because it seems a requirement for anyone with a camera to have to go join a site.  It's something that comes up often for discussion often here:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/selling_stock_photography/
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/selling_stock_photography/message/5642

There's nothing wrong with _not_ licensing stock images.  It's ok to just enjoy your photography with your friends and family.  I think people read these articles and get swept up in the hype without a second thought.

I totally agree!

« on: January 13, 2010, 01:10 »
PS:  why are we refusing to sell images at StockXpert for 25 cents but uploading like crazy to Shutterstock?
Because once you reach $500 in lifetime sales with SS, your subs jump to 33 cents; and your ODs increase too  ;)

Exactly!

And once you reach $3000, you'll earn more. And after $10.000 a little more.  That's why.

471
:-\   Not what I was expecting.

It seems SS will use BigStock only to attract more subscriptions  buyers  :(

472

What do you mean by "provide applicable evidence"?  Do you mean we must notify all other agencies that images will be removed?

I believe you only have to give notice to the companies that put a hold on your images.  The others you can remove any time, so no need for 6 months advance notice.

Correct. Thanks!

Thanks!

Honestly some are hard to understand...  Someone enlight me please!!!

Band Aid ? only as a keyword I guess? Not the image.

Canadian coins?  What's the difference with other coins?  ???

English Pound ?  What's the difference with other coins?  ???

Toyota?  Is a Mazda ok?

Playing cards? As keywords? Not allowed?

Post-It ?  Only as a keyword I guess. Not the image

That's ridiculous!   Resubmit them.

YET ANOTHER BLATANT EXAMPLE OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST and why contributors should not be reviewers .

SS reviewers are also contributors?    Do all agencies do that?
