Dreamstime.com / Re: RPD and income in the last 6 months
« on: November 10, 2009, 09:54 »
Last 4 months:
0,92
1,05
0,97
0,75
avg: 1,04

Only doing stock for a year, other sites are doing very well for me, DT just never started. (1 month SS or iS income =  far more than 1 year DT income!)

Pixmac / Re: So, what's the deal with pixmac?
« on: November 09, 2009, 18:50 »
In my port it's the exact same thing; i think the title is correct (dog with newspaper) but instead of my pic of the dog its replaced by another dog with a newspaper.

Did you get a reply Madelaide? (if not i'll send a message their way as well)

Imho Veer looks good, even more so with the latest tweakings. I think its a pretty promising site.
Keep up the good work guys :)

I'm also honoured with a picture that isn't mine there...
If anyone recognises this one as yours.....its in my portfolio.

This makes me worried; if i have pictures from someone else in my portfolio there...its very likely its the other way around as well. I dont want to accidentally 'steal' money from someone else, and i definitely dont want anyone else get the credits for my work.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock dropping ODs?
« on: November 04, 2009, 15:44 »
I just checked my earnings log again; my last 40 sales are: 24 of $0,50 ; 14 of $1 ; 2 of $2
Oops! You're right, there is no $1,50 commision...i was checking the downloads per pic page and counted wrong.

But still, i never had a $3 sale there... and its still waaaay below what OD's give me on SS.
I also hope this moving OD's to BigStock thing will turn out to be a real bad plan for SS.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock dropping ODs?
« on: November 04, 2009, 14:18 »
Communication doesn't seem to be SS's strongest side. It appears in all silence OD's are banned from the english version (many foreign buyers also use the site in english btw) of the site as "a test". From what i read the buyers weren't notified about this either and when they call SS support they are sent to BigStock with a database a fraction of SS' database. I'd start shopping around on other sites if i were them.

On SS OD's are 30% of my income there; on BigStock my files are sold $0,50 to $1,50 so if all OD traffic is sent there and the buyers nicely do what SS instructs them i still would lose out on a lot of income since a download there is not near as profitable as an (large) OD.

I find this truly upsetting. I also wonder how it is only a few people seem to care about this; many others seem to think nothing is wrong because "i just had an OD"...

Hahaha macro dinosaur upsizing images for dinosaur designers. If you look around your neibourhood you will see only microstock images, from the biggest microstockers. It's normal that people copy microstock IMO

When i look around in *my* neighbourhood i definitely dont see only microstock images from the biggest microstockers (when i think typical microstock images i think Yuri Arcurs and his clones; and a big cheesy pool of uninspired handshakes, headsets, office and lifestyleshoots) but often very inspired , original and creative ideas and images.
There's inspiration and there's copying; i find the latter lame, lazy, cheap and much more, definitely not "normal".
Upon what do you base this "dinosaur images for dinosaur designers"?

458
Lisafx, you're right, i know...
but it's so frustrating! 1 is pretty tough; people have so many different motives to do microstock... peeps doing it purely as hobby vs the ones living from it; and in some countries one subscription is almost enough to buy a meal, while it's peanutes in others... so * difficult to get that all bundled in one 'union' or group...
But really, the main issue is point 2 i think... it would require a lot of dedication and time; if there was someone who really wanted to devote to this, brainstormed on how to get it work i think it wouldn't be tough to find loads of peeps who would join...
Indeed unlikely it will happen soon :(
i feel like we're a bunch of lemmings now happily throwing ourselves of a cliff, purely because we go all for ourselves only and won't group... while it's so obvious we need to do so!

459
We are in dire need of an Union. (i think thats what its called in English? Where employees come together to fight for their rights together). Seriously!
If everyone interested would join, and we could have a decently sized group that all works towards the same goals it would be a big step forward in maintaining our rights and fight this sort of absolutely enraging Kafka'ing situations!
If we dont bundle our forces agencies can and will get away with literally everything they want.

(strange thing is; we're all aware that if we dont form a 'fist' together we're completely powerless....still, nothing happens)

I definitely wouldnt mind stop uploading there and block my port; but right now i know it's useless since it would be never enough to make a difference.

Adobe Stock / Re: FT extended licenses
« on: October 24, 2009, 18:18 »
I have mine set at 200$ and sell more than when I had them priced much lower.  Give it a go at that price and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Hmmmm.   I have mine set at 60.  I certainly don't get many of them even though that is pretty low.

I am thinking it would be a good idea to bump them to 100.  Off to write to support... :)
Yeah, for me the Vetta collection and the responses from buyers on it in the forums showed that when customers want something they'll usually go for it, almost no matter what the cost; might just as well set it high'ish.
Then again, i wonder if setting it pretty high makes buyers think "we'll go for the normal RF license and will take the risk" when the usage would require an EL...

Adobe Stock / Re: FT extended licenses
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:33 »
I mailed support to raise it. Fair enough if you can set your own prices, i just didn't know it!
Before signing up i usually read all terms and conditions carefully to not have any nasty surprises...but i nowhere read that we could set them manually. Admitting it could be an error from my side and i missed it; but i still feel misinformed and ripped off by them, no sane person would leave it at $20  :-\

Adobe Stock / Re: FT extended licenses
« on: October 23, 2009, 11:05 »
Thanks a lot for the input guys! :)
My older pics indeed are still set to $20.
I never knew we had to change the settings manually (c'mon, how absurd is that?!); surfed around there and couldnt even find out how to do it. Some more information from their side wouldnt have been bad. (maybe an email reminder when you switch rankings). Ah well, $10 lost because of a stupid system. I mailed support now.

sharpshot: i would be utterly upset in your place (to put it lightly)!! What a slap in the face! Why dont you mail them and urge them to do the same for you?... gebus, what are they thinking?!

Adobe Stock / FT extended licenses
« on: October 23, 2009, 00:00 »
$6.20....
I started with them a couple of months ago, and had 1 EL before but didnt even notice it was an EL because of the ridiculously low amount i got for it.
And now again... as far as i can see it has more or less the same conditions as EL"s on SS and iStock, where does this ridiculously low amount come from? Or am i missing something else?

This is just...i dont know...angering would be an understatement right now.

Err, i'm supposed to be 100% male (i am NOT!), with an undefinable age, but i also look 34% like Doutzen Kroes and Angelina Jolie (that, i can live with, haha)

Dreamstime.com / Re: keyword translation
« on: September 20, 2009, 12:28 »
Be sure to sit down when you do this, cause the translated results are truly hilarious!
(at least they are in Dutch, may-be not in other languages).
So true!
I once downloaded the Dutch version of their model release... the translation is so poor i'm sure when/if it comes to a claim it has no validity whatsoever; it's just a bunch of gibberish!

Dreamstime.com / Re: What do you hate about Dreamstime?
« on: September 12, 2009, 17:23 »
I love DT because of it's friendliness and it's willingness to listen to their contributors; i do get the feeling they honestly try to respect us and our wishes...and that's the only reason i haven't ditched them yet.
What i truly hate about them is the sales; somehow DT just doesn't get started for me. I'm into stock for about a year now and DT is the only one lagging really behind in sales. I made $173 in a whole year there, that's  a lot less than i make in 1 month on iStock or Shutterstock. It comes even after BigStock in revenue!
I have the feeling i dont get any exposure there (my topseller on every other site has 41 views and 3 sales on DT).
With only 221 pics i'm aware my portfolio is tiny, but it seems to work on the other sites, just not on DT.
Pities :(

« on: August 20, 2009, 10:36 »
I must have been lucky with the reviewers there; 48 approved, 2 rejected.
About 70% of my tiny port have views, and 2 sales so far for $4,55.
Not sooo bad for a 'new' site imho :)
