Pathetic low pricing is why I do not upload videos to Envato.

Giant previews with a useless corner water mark is why I do not upload to 500px.

Perhaps the buyer is stacking licenses to avoid buying an extended license.

Envato / Re: Contributors are paying envato's taxes..« on: January 11, 2016, 06:22 »
I have stopped uploading to Envato because of their plan to tax us for money we never received. I am seriously considering removing my material. I hope they come to their senses.

They should get rid of level 0 for videos.

Low pricing and pathetic return per download is why I never uploaded there.

Microstock Services / Re: Trying to price a comprehensive microstock post-production service« on: January 02, 2016, 06:42 »
My 4k prores clips are about 2 gigs each. An affordable (upload once) distribution platform would be useful. I would continue to do all the post production and keywording myself though.

I am extremely uncomfortable with their plan to 1099 us for their commissions. My tax guy will likely twirl in his chair if a 1099 for money I never received arrives. I am seriously considering removing my material. I hope they fix the situation.

"Starting with the US financial year 2016, we will issue Form 1099-MISC forms to report your total gross sales (excluding our buyer fees), affiliate income and Envato Studio gross sales."
Doesn't "excluding our buyers fee" refer to their cut? Meaning we will only be 1099ed for our 36%? What exactly is a buyers fee anyway? Is it even legal to 1099 someone for money they never received? If the were to 1099 us for 100% of sales wouldn't we have to send them a counter 1099 for their 64%? 463

The commission cut is the reason I'm cutting them from my upload list.

I also received a correction on the 1.74 sale. I would like to thank Mat for jumping in and helping out. I am hopeful good things will continue from Adobe's entrance to stock photo and footage marketing.

I recently got a request for a W-9 even though the Pond5 account tax section shows the W-9 I upload in January being on file.... Could be phishing... or could be a mass email to everybody. Did anyone else get a W-9 request last week?

Canva / Re: Canva removes me as a contributor...watch your Ps & Qs if you want to stay« on: December 07, 2015, 08:01 »
Crazy that Canva is deleting approved material from top professionals. The cull clearly is not quality related. I suspect they are eliminating competition in favor of wholly owned and/or insider portfolios.

In 2011 istock was 22% of my sales. 2012 it was 20%, 2013 - 18%, 2014 - 16%, this year 14%. In seven more years there may not be anything to worry about.
