You are right, it was something with the browser or the Login session as the buyer. I rebooted the computer, and still had the same problem. Then, I logged in to my website again (as the buyer), and this time the download worked like a charm. However, the meta data is absent in the downloaded file. I presume you didn't get either.
When does ImageMagick save the meta data - at the image the image is processed or when writing the purchased file? Since I switched from GD Library to ImageMagick just today, will I have to re-process all existing images?
I just tried it again, with a freshly imported and processed file, this time definitely using ImageMagick. The download worked fine, but I have the same problem, no metadata.

Thans for good news, Paypal refund processed. I did it again, and the screen shows still number 164 (not 482), and I get the same problem. It looks like it's something related to my computer session. I am going to reboot the computer now.

Leo,
I don't know what you mean by sending admin account, but I sent you a PM.

3rd transaction completed and paid to Paypal.
When I click on my email confirmation, the Customer License and Management screen displays the thumbnail of the new purchase, but the number 164 assigned originally to the first transaction from 2 days ago. Clicking on the "Get your images here" link, generates the same error message as before.

I toggled Symbiostock and then back to CleanTheme. It didn't help with the download of the completed transaction (2nd purchase). Same error message as before. Shall I make a new purchase transaction?
I don't know if the following will help: The first image purchased had a number 164. The second image was assigned number 482. But when I click on Get Your Images / download link in the received email, I am pointed to the image 164.
BTW, are these image numbers assigned consecutive values as the images are purchased, or are hey related somehow to the actual image pages?

I'm using wordpress 3.5 and Symbio 2.5.6 with CleanTheme 2.0

Thanks, Leo 1. I went to my Gallery Options, and switched it from GD Library to ImageMagick. Worked fine. 2. Then I logged in as the buyer, and purchased an image. Transaction successfully completed, incl. Paypal payment. But when I want to download the image, I get a message: No webpage was found for the web address: http://www.advantica.com/stockphotos/wp-content/symbiostock_file_download.php Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND Two days ago, when I tested my first download, everything seemed the same, and I was able to download the image. Any idea what is the problem and how to fix it? As a developer, I can tolerate occasional hickups. But for a buyer this would be a big frustration and turn-off. I tend to agree with Dan that the mandatory registration will piss off some buyers. Let's make it optional.

I haven't downloaded any of them yet. Which one should be used?

I made a test transaction with 2.5.6 a day or two ago, and all meta data was striped.

There are email registrations and there are spam comments. So far, I received only some registrations and fortunately no comments. I think, my wordpress installation has some automatic captcha that accepts the user registrations but doesn't allow to continue with comments. If anybody feels like testing it, go ahead and try to enter a comment on my site. I'll report back.
Where are the registrations stored, and how to delete them?

I just started with a very basic site look and about 30 online images. Still testing, finetuning, and learning. Planning to add 1,000 images this month.
Don't underestimate the adoption speed and growth potential. The Symbiostock growth will be steep and exponential. 10,000 images in last two weeks vs 20,000 images added last month vs 65,000 images in previous 5 months. I can see 120,000 images by end of August, and 250,000 by year end.
[Edited on Aug 15] At 300 images now

1. I have a feeling that a simple captcha is already included in the latest registration screen. I didn't download any such plugin, but vaguely remember seeing a captcha entry when I entered my first test transaction (too many things happened in last week to remember).
2. In the meantime, I received 4 email registrations, but I can't see any comments or sales transactions (using the dashboard).

1. Just to clarify - my problem was related to the image categories drop down or image category indexing - not to the image keywords.
2. I wasn't aware of any problems with Search. I couldn't find any old posts describing this problem. Can you point me to those posts?
I just tested the search with my limited image collection, and couldn't find any problems. As far as I can see, the Search will look at the keywords only (exact wording). For example, if an animal picture is in the Nature category, but was not keyworded with "nature", the search won't find. However, you would find it in the Nature image category. After adding the keyword "nature" to the image, the Search will find it.
However, there is a problem with singular and plural forms. If I specify "animal" as keyword, and then search for it as "animal", the Search will find it. If I search for "animals", I am out of luck. How should we deal with this problem? Include both plural and singular forms in the keywords, or hope that the Search will evolve to be able to recognize both forms?
3. What happens if you rename the slug from nature-2 to something else halfway through your uploading (or a year from now)? Will you have to delete and reupload the related images uploaded prior to the slug change?
4. Lastly, is this indexing structure included in Leos' Symbiostock theme or is it an integral part of the wordpress (taxonomy and keyword/tag indexing)?

Thanks, Stephan
1. It was indeed in the the Menu definition. All menu items had "Image Categories" in the Menu Item field, whereas the Animal line had "Categories" as the Menu item. I can't remember what I did differently and where the "Category" came from.
I deleted the old Animal image category at menu item, created a new Animal Image Category, and then added it to the Menu. It works properly now, and it picked up automatically all existing images which were defined in Animal image category.
2. As to the possible mixup between the image keywords and image categories with the same name, now, I don't think that was part of the problem. As long as there is at least one character different in the corresponding two slugs, the system will properly differentiate, so you don't have to rename the slugs.
Amanda, if you want to add a Troubleshooting section to your Symbioguides, you could mention this situation and fix there.

I renamed the slugs in the image keywords, then in image categories, and it didn't help. I deleted the "animal" category twice, deleted all animal images, re-created the animal category, and re-uploaded the animal images. The item structure is now consistent, all image category URL links have now the same syntax: http://www.advantica.com/stockphotos/image-type/animal/ but the problem remains the same. For the animals - the image category was "animals" and image keyword "animal". Automatically generated slugs were animal and animals-2 Interestingly, the nature category was "nature" and image keyword 100% identical "nature", (no singular and plural differences there) slugs were nature and nature-2 and in this case, the problem didn't occur, those image categories display correctly. So, I renamed the "animals" category to "animal" to make it same as the keyword, deleted and reuploaded the images, but that didn't help either. I'll check tomorrow for other matching keywords and category pairs.

Thank you, Stephan, for spotting and pointing out the difference.
I thought, that I processed the animal images in the same way as the others. One possible difference is the SLUG. Slug for animals image keyword is "animals", whereas slug for animal image category is "animals-2". Does anybody know how are the slugs used and where are these definitions stored?

I uploaded the first night after the announcement over 100 images and agree with Dan that Benji is nice and decent guy. I had a question, and he sent me a personal email and some tips next day. Next morning, there were just 1,500 images online, including mine (for a brief moment in the history, my percentage in that collection was about 8% of the total). Here are the numbers: I priced my images between 10 and 30 Euros. There were some nice images there in a similar price range, and others in the collection were quite poor and priced at 1 Euro. I started with about 120 views, (some bot goes through every image and sends out a tweet for each), and then every day the total view count increased by only about 10. My sales figure after a week stands at 0.
It doesn't look that after the initial surge the website is getting much traffic or maybe the buyers are looking only at the 1 Euro images.

3. Also, in one day and 10-15 online images in total, I received 3 registration emails by some unknown individuals. No purchase, just a registration. I presume, that is the first step in some planned email spamming campaign (or website attack?). How do you deal with such registrations? Is there a way to recognize faked registrations? Leave them active or delete them (is there an easy way to delete them?)
Add CAPTCHA (or something similar) to the registration process.
Where exactly? And how?

I've been testing my Symbio site with a small sample of images (maybe 15 in total). Most image categories work properly, but I discovered two problems with some image categories. 1. Some images do not get included in the defined image categories. I can't see why some items do get included and some not. 2. For example, the dropdown animals image category shows no entries, whereas if you bypass the Dropdown Categories, the next screen shows 4 items in the animals category (in paranthesis) - Animals(4) What could be causing the disconnect and is there a way to sync those two displays of categories? my website is http://advantica.com.stockphotos

1. I tested a purchase transaction myself today. All you need is to have two Paypal accounts. Actually, it's interesting to go through and experience the ordering process, including the login registration. You will receive several emails on both ends of the transaction.
2. A follow-up question: Is there a way (or is it in future plans) to accumulate and report the sales history?

If I want to add short blogs to my stockphoto site, a) is it best to create a separate wordpress blog site and link it to the Symbio site via an external link or b) can you use the Posts (or pages?) in the existing Symbio site and incorporate the blog structure (current and archives) in the menu? I have an existing blogsite at www.advantica.wordpress.com, used for general blogging, but there I don't mix image pages and posts (images are included directly in the posts). If I want to add blogs directly to the Symbio stockphoto site, should I write blogs as posts or pages, and how can I separate them from the image pages? Thank you in advance, Les

Thank you, Shazam and Cathy,
The Featured Images work as you suggested. However, when I attempted to use the Featured Large option, the large picture appeared on the right edge, actually of the screen. Is there a way to control the coordinates for placing the widget? BTW, what widget are you using for your large panoramic image on top of your screen, Shazam? The images you display in that box look very impressive.
Amanda, I will try the link you sent me, thank you very much.
Back to my first question, is there a way to define an action when someone clicks on the image? Right now, the two icons below the displayed images work properly (preview and zoom), but if I click on the image itself, I get an error message.

I just installed Symbiostock and Amanda's Clean Theme, and uploaded a few images for testing. I'm new to the wordpress and I'm struggling with the subsequent steps.
1. The image thumbnails appear under the related categories, and when I click on the zoom (Preview) button underneath the thumbnail a large image picture is displayed. However, when I click on the actual thumbnail, I get a message "Oops! That page cant be found." - It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try one of the links below or a search?
How can I fix this?
2. I can't figure out how to create the Latest and Featured galleries. Can the new images be fed automatically to the Latest Gallery or do I have to stuff them into the galleries manually?
I did set some images to Featured in the Image Edit, and nothing happens. Whats the proper method to put the images into Featured Gallery?
My (initial) website is advantica.com/stockphotos
Thanks in advance,
Les

"For decades, image licensing has been controlled by multinational agencies, who take copyright from photographers, and the lion's share of the royalties."
I don't know any agency that takes copyright from a photographer. Well, technically some agencies don't take the copyrights from photographers, but they remove the EXIF data, including photographer's name and copyright notice.
