ditto ale,

layers simply let you save your progress in steps allowing you to go back where needed to make adjustments. Like playing a video game, save often in case you make a wrong turn : )

This image was rejected by StockXpert and it is sold more than 500 times on other stock agencies.

Look that on this way - Reviewers are humans and they can make mistakes.  Unfortunately they made mistake in my case and I believe in yours.

Best regards

..by the way, love this shot. Doing a piece for NOAA and may use your "not stock" image for the site...will let you know if I do.

Steve-Oh -

If a file has technical flaws, such as not properly isolated or excessive noise, fine.  But to get mass rejections on numerous files with a reason of "we don't think this would be good stock" just doesn't make much sense to me.  Images that have already been great sellers at other sites are getting rejected.  IMHO, reviewers should stick with reviewing images on a technical level and let the consumer decide if it's worth downloading or not.

Again, just my opinion.

...and a great opinion it is. Once again, let the "buyers" determine what is "stock" and what is not. Out of 18 images submitted 6 weeks ago (and yes I understand the wait period), 2 were accepted, the rest "weren't stock". The irony is that most were from the same shoot...slight differences on angles. The two that were accepted were rather cheesy "Olan Mills" type portraits, while the others explored a bit more creative angles. Perhaps I've answered my own question (shoot cheesy portraits :) ).

Needless to say, as a result, I'm holding back uploading very much until the "problem(s)" gets straightened out. And to boot, not 1 sale in the past 3 1/2 weeks...all other sites started rocking the day after Christmas.

if "people" wanna vent...let 'em vent... achieves nothing, but in the words of Cheryl Crow: "if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad". Just like you venting about people venting...it obviously made you feel better so that's cool.

I did put a similar post on all the other major forums and most have sent letters saying thank you!
The only exception to this was SS I received a personnel rebuff from Jon.
Most have asked for me to send in all the facts. This I have done.

When we have international companies then we all expect this kind of behavior as normal
without any fear of reprisals.

I have worked for three USA companies so I have experience of working for Americans
The first was Kelloggs who are an example to everyone in how to respect others.
The other two I won't name but I held very senior positions in both and found them to have little or no concern for anyone but the board.

I don't accept that because you have a forum this gives you the rights to impose your
own behavior and laws above the laws of the country you are based in nor dos the legal
system of that country.

I realize that this is early days for the internet too early for a world wide code of behavior
until we can achieve that, then we must accept the rule of law of our nations, or it will turn
into the wild west.

SS as all the rights bestowed upon it by congress and no more I believe that the founding
fathers of America led the world in freedom and free speech.
It know falls upon its children to bestow those ideals across the world by the use of the internet.

This example of American treatment of free speech is for others to judge.

Pete

Wow...somebody a little touchy about some "tea-party" thing? As posted earlier, you're joining the rest of the kids on the playground and pi$$ed off a teacher. There are other micros you can deal with if you're unhappy with your treatment at SS (and you are not the first to get upset - but it does no good).

I have started uploading there as well.

I'm new to the setting your own price model ... Does anyone have any advice for these? The same photos are posted elsewhere, but I can see where it might be worth it to post to FP first and delay on the other on the chance that I get a sale there before they hit the other sites ...

Any advice regarding a pricing strategy when I'm currently active on around 6 sites or so ...

Mark

I have set my prices at 5, 7 and 10 dollars. No point in selling them cheaper, since individual downloads at other sites will usually amount to at least 5 dollars (full size) anyway. As a designer, I don't care if an image costs 2 or 3 or 5 dollars.

$7 apiece here

FP has always had a more "personal" feel. Sales are slow but semi-consistant. Uploading is a breeze and acceptance levels are the best of any site. Cue-times average 2-3 days and they pay fast.

I do love me some FP

me just covers me arse now..i do this for fun, web designer by trade. Again, you're logic is solid in the real world, but I will no longer take chances with my income and it IS nice enjoying the anonymity of the net. I've also seen less than "constructive" commentary on this forum. Have a nice evening and merry xmas! : )

Math,

I appreciate your logic, but a couple of years ago, I made a similar post (under a different name) and it resulted in my acount being blackballed (not StockXpert). So now I simply ghost talk just to make sure my comments do not result in any "repercussions ". For those wishing to put their work up for peer review, more power to them. However, I sell enough photos to know whether my work is "stock photography" or not. I simply want to make sure that the reviewers (of which I used to be one) are not playing hack to appease their quotas or stumping their competition.

Steve-O

I agree with the concerns about the blanket rejections. My last 2 batches were 100% shot down with the lame "we have enough of these" or "not stock photography". I previously enjoyed a 70% approval but have had a 100% rejection in the last 4 weeks...and as the usual mantra goes, "IS, DT, SS...etc. have accepted most of them".

I just hope that the reviewer(s) are not "blanket" blowing submissions out in an effort to clear out the backlog. And ironically, the 2 images that were accepted in the last 5 weeks were not accepted by anyone else...go figure.

I understand the IT issues that you guys face but PLEEEEAAASE don't let your reviewers poison the water. I HAVE ceased uploading to allow a "catch up" but also because the rejections coupled with a significant down-turn in sales has got me a bit "spooked".

Still a supporter and fan of the site, but please put a handgun to some of the reviewer's heads...they're not helping the business...yours OR ours.

that's why i don't upload my full size images to the subscription sites. Save them for the sites where you can set the price. $25 - $50 is what they're worth to me. Plus, many of the images I upload there were nixed by SS, StockXpert, or IS. They're good for $20 - $30 a month. I know that is pocket change for many but for me, it all adds up in the end.

Merry Christmas to all!

Had a 70% acceptance rate earlier. My previous batch of 8 took 3 1/2 weeks and all were rejected for "not what we're looking for". Have a smaller batch that's been waiting for a week and a half...we'll see what happens. Stock is FUN!
