DP took all the same images, the other agencies took a selection.

DP take anything.  I've never had an image rejected there.

I cannot fathom why there is a small clique of Getty apologists who refuse to believe that what Sean has said is what happened. Even further, I can't understand why they'd waste their time on MSG to set us poor country bumpkins straight - those of us who take Sean at his word.

And as for Getty's side of things, their track record speaks for itself - it'd be easier to defend Attila the Hun and Vlad the Impaler as social workers at heart than to pitch Getty as the hardly done by agency scr*wed over by the evil SuperLocke.

Go and complain about us and Sean someplace else.
I couldn't agree more.  If there is one person that I trust to tell the truth it is Sean.  Let's face it, telling it like it is, is what got him into this trouble.

Even adding the model releases takes more clicks than anywhere else!!

The site looks great, is fast and responsive. Just the uploading, especially the descriptions, keywords etc...are a pain. Although I agree with weighted keywords. But why do i have to add manually how many people are in the picture? That is what model releases are for, right?

Drives me mad uploading there.  Also I use IrfanView to keyword my images and this is the only site that it doesn't export all the keywords to so I have to go and manually  add more.

If you go to My Files and then Indexing you can add model releases, catagories etc in batches.

Being relatively new to MSG I'm curious, do iStock staff ever come to MSG to explain/clarify certain items of interest?

Many other MS sites staff come along from time to time to explain things and answer questions.  If someone from iStock would stop in to answer questions, it would go a long way with people.

Too much to ask?

I'm pretty sure at least one participant in this discussion is an Istock admin, but he/she mostly comes in to try and derail the discussions and create confusion, not answer questions or shed any real light on anything.
Yes I have the same suspicions

I'm on course to beat my previous BME by about 10%.  March last year was not at all impressive.  I made more 8 other months in the last 12 than I did in March.

From what I am reading in this thread it seems that where your images come in the search position is largely based on how many people 'like' your photo.  Is that still true? As I will never contribute to a site where my images can be  pushed back behind inferior images just because  a group of people are forming ratings gangs.

Well, when you go to "explore" and look at "popular contributions", that is true.
However, that is not how the buyers look for images. They search for keywords and then it is the images that have been sold and viewed the most that end up first in the search results.

We are working on a new formula that will take more factors into consideration but it will never be likes that determine what comes up first in the buyers' searches.

I hope that answers your question!

Lina @ Mostphotos
OK thank you.  That sounds more interesting then. :D

why don't you IS and Getty haters, just close your accounts and be free of your perpetual whining? surely you have better things to do with your life than complain all the time, it really gets boring don't you think? CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS and stop complaining, PLEASE. i really don't understand how anyone can be so miserable about one company, yet stick around and gripe daily.

A lot of this stuff will make more sense once its installed.

Just a thought but you aren't going back to the error page each time  by mistake are you.  Look at the url and see if it the one of the error page.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do you sell RF at Alamy?
« on: March 19, 2013, 08:07 »
I started to upload to them about a year ago and have about 600 images there all RF  and I am quite pleased with how it's going.  This month I've had 6 of the 27$ sales which netted me 13.50 each and one little sale that netted me about 2$.
In previous months I have had one that sold for more than 400$, one for more than 200$ and one for just over 100$ although most of my sales are the 27$ ones.
Although it doesn't make as much as some sites it is nice to see high commissions on individual sales.
ETA   -  the images that I upload to Alamy are on all the other micro sites that I upload to.

496
I don't think that most people starting to upload now would earn much there as an independent.   My earnings have gone down considerably but I still get a decent cheque each month, mostly because of older proven images selling. I have stopped uploading there now for many reasons one of them being that my new images never sell.
Of the last 20 images that show on my dls page.

6 are from 2006
2 from 2007
5 from 2008
5 from 2009
1 from 2010
1 from2011
Would be interested to know if anybody else is seeing this sort of pattern.

I do primarily vectors so our experiences may differ. However I find, especially lately, that my new submissions sell well at SS and my new submissions are not selling elsewhere. I have decent sales at other agencies but it is all files that are 6-12 months old or older.
Lately I'm finding that new files take off as quick at fotolia as they do at SS
Lucky. My sales all but stopped there.  :'(
It only is really new images that sell. Probably about 7 out of 10 of my sales are images uploaded this year.

I was wondering, what are the lower and upper limits of the gauges? How is it divided?

Sell a few more licenses and you'll find out! I think the IS gauge goes full-scale at about 15K and the DT gauge something less than that.
I thought that it was 25000 for IS and 15000 for Dt.

Looking at the map can be useful I think, maybe more when, as me, you are new on microstocks.
In this way I had the confirmation that if I want to sell images in Asia I should find some asian sites
But the few that I have found are in languages that I cannot understand (and no english version of course)
I think that Asia is a great (new growing) market. But how to reach it if the occidental sites are not seen/used there?
I wasn't suggesting that nobody would find it useful just that it doesn't interest me.  My post was to offer  a possible reason why there are not many replies to the thread.  If I found out that a lot of my images sell in Asia it wouldn't influence what I upload or where I upload it.
