I think it comes down to simple exposure. The more accounts you would create the greater the number of sales. I don't have a lot of faith in people searching through thousands of images of "organic orange" and picking my own.
While I have not done it, I think duplicating your portfoliio would go close to duplicating your sales. 478

I should add, this is everywhere on the web. It is supposedly a screen short of the de Canon site. But when you check the url at the top the backslashes are forward slashes etc. A BIG FAT FAKE methinks. 479
General Stock Discussion / Re: A good photographer is BORN....not made« on: April 20, 2008, 17:16 »
not sure I agree with this.
I agree that some people have an ability with the arts, and some others are suited to other things. But imagery could be expressed as writing, painting, sculpting. I think most people who are "arty" struggle with the technical aspects of photography. 480

OR, could it be that Scott has decided to create 2 logins for the same portfolio. I was thinking about that.

General Stock Discussion / Re: How much does an image earn in it's lifetime« on: April 13, 2008, 20:41 »
annoying as it seems, my best selling image is one of a white van I snapped while walking home.
To date that image has earned me $465 in total from all sites. I reckon $30 would be a realistic result for a lifetime. 486
Lighting / Who uses a macro ring flash?« on: April 13, 2008, 20:36 »
I have been looking at some cheap aftermarket ring flashes as a way of solving my ongoing fight with lighting.
I was wondering if anyone here used them, and the experiences they have to share. Dave 487

Crestock.com / Re: Corbis to Sue Crestock Over April Fool's Joke? Who Will Have the Last Laugh?« on: April 09, 2008, 21:03 »
In Australia they could sue for defamation.
As per Gutnik v Dow Jones. Dow Jones in the USA made comments in their epublication which is published in New York, and Gutnik successfully sued in Australia. The Australian High Court ruled that as far as the internet goes, the place where you view the information is the place of publishment. So Corbis could hypothetically sue Crestock in any country it liked anywhere in the world, obviously the one where they have the defamation or tort laws to sue them. 490
General Stock Discussion / Re: Property Release ( when is needed?)« on: April 08, 2008, 17:25 »
I do a lot of interiors. Getting permission is one thing, getting the owner to sign a property release is something very different, and most will not do it.
SO. What I do is to remove the art etc from walls, and replace it with my own. RECOGNIZABLE I think is the key. Do not take photos of people's personal belongings. I actually think one of the main reasons for this is security. When you do Real Estate photography you do not want to be broadcasting an inventory of good stuff to pinch for thieves. 491

Has anyone read Photocritic? He was one of the judges on the last Crestock comp, not many people enter those comps. http://www.photocritic.org/category/competitions/ 492

With SS I really do not think it matters how big your portfolio is, or how good are your keywords. The only way I get sales is to continue to contribute new stuff.
Although if you search "white van" my white van is now in the top 10 searches so that probably helps. 493

I think the stirrers would be in the minority anonymous. Let's all not be too precious.
Personally I have never given anyone a vote lower than 5. If the image is bad, I just will not vote. My average votes are 7.5. BTW, congrats on your sales at MP, I have never had sale. |
