I was unfamiliar with GL, so I took a look. $1-$6 per image means I'd make .50-$3/sale. That's more or less what I make per sale at ...

Same here. I didn't know GL, after all this enthusiasm here I took a look at their prices and... sorry, not interested. I closed my many micro accounts lately (last year) because of that low prices. I'd like to see any reason why should I come back to selling images for so cheap. We talk about RF licese, not one usage of (extra - web) small size, right?

477
... if some new company comes asking for my work, it's 50% or it's not going to happen. I'm not interested.

Just thinking - if here comes new agency that offers you 50%, you take it! Price is 1$ so you take 0,50$, ok? But there comes another one, better, fair - pricing agency, that offers you 80%. Interested? Very! But the agency sells image for 0,50$. We know they need compete. Now you can get 0,50$ - 20%.
I mean, we never ever should forget about the reasonable minimum. We all scream about 50% but I can see nobody is asking what is the price.
Is it worth selling your RF (!) image for... what price is good today? What is the minimum?

If you could have a choice, let me ask you, what price would you like to get for the small and full size image in wide RF license? Would it still be 1$ as it is today? You (all) don't accept less than 50% but 1$ is accepted? Just hard to believe :)

Is there nobody (other than me) who uploaded images but hasn't gotten it?

My last post in here

Soon there will be no big 4 agencies left which the MSG has not fallen out with. And then what ?

Then we all meet in places like Pond5 - exclusive, unique files with self-fair pricing? :) Can you imagine how the world turns upside down?  :o  :D

is there anything in this world for free except breathing?

I'm sorry but I must disappoint you. Here, where I live you have to pay some kind of climatic fee. For example you travel to Tatra Mountains (to take some new photos for micros) and you pay for room or any other tourist service and you have that extra fee in it. Why? Because you breathe the fresh air, really. I was in huge shock when I heard that lately ;) Oh, and I will have to make new calculations for future trip. Is it worth uploding new images to... anywhere ;)

Sorry for OT, I'm out :)

Yesterday I got email from new future stocker (maybe), young boy that doesn't know life. He's trying to get to microsites and he asked me what to do because he gets rejections for a year, all the time over and over again! He wants to sell his work with micros so much...  :o
He has read that it's so great business, you just do what you love and upload images and voila, money is coming in streams to your wallet. Really, he was expecting that. I saw the images and it reminded me last uploaded on DP (do they review it ever?).

He doesn't care if he gets 0,30$, 30% or less... He'll sell in milions DL... Poor boy has now idea how many has changed since the old article was written. We see changes going very fast, month by month new is coming. Agencies don't care a lot who will bring them new stuff. We should care who will sell our work!

Spiral is going down faster and faster, right into the bottom. New young stockers with poor images come, old pros go away. Nobody sees there's a hole ready to fill. Good pros need some good place. Fair pricing, serious offer and reasonable clients. Trust is what we need for sure. I'm not asking anything else. I'll give my images exclusive but give me fair treating.
In current micros I don't see any courageous.

It's almost half a year now, so how is your plan for the next half of 2014? ;) Any changes for good/ bad lately? Did last revelations in pricing alter anything?

DT doesn't take 70% of the profits, not even of the sales. The 70% out of independents' sales must cover also the ...

No? DT doesn't take 70%? SO where it goes? Lets see - we have 100% income, where 70% goes to DT and the rest 30% for author, right? Still saying DT doesn't take 70%? It's easy like 2+2
But wait, you say DT has cost? Hm, did I get my gear for free? Nikon, would you give me full new system stuff, please? My old is to old to work anymore. No? buu... And I need to pay for my computer as well, post processing isn't for free, taxes (grrr, it's to big!), my tax men isn't working for free (bad men!), travel, tickets or session costs, food isn't coming from the sky, for free... Some of us have people working on images that we take, they're not just 1 person. If we have registered business (we usually have to, depends on country) the cost is HUGE!
ETC...

So tell me please, how is it - I get 30% and need to pay my bills (all th.above) and who gets more?
Btw. I can count only on myself, my few hundreds/ thousands images and agency has milions ... streams of income. Can you feel the difference?

Edit.
I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry that I get this 30% or 0,30$ for image... We crossed the reasonable line long time ago. Time to wake up and say no in some cases.

just email them, Stephen have been replying to many of mine

I thought maybe more people here would like to know... they were asking the same with no results. Do you think it's good to keep facts quiet? It's easy question (above) and I believe it's not a secret :)

485
500px? Oh right.. I've forgot about it, thanks!
It got quiet quickly.

486
How can I change prices for my prints? It's cheapest in all POD sited around.
Btw. I must admit I don't understand it - I was told I have to wait for curator but my images are on sale from start... With no email back.

Two weeks ago I asked some questions to Crated here on the forum, but still waiting for reply... Not motivating.

Anyone else with closed accounts?

Looks like FT is doing huge favour to their contributors ;)

More people had NU sales lately. All is on Alamy forum.

Business isn't really about right or wrong, is it?

You could ask - is it good to take care of reputation?
;)

491
I think it does show that they are really feeling the effects of the opt-out campaign, which is good. I'm not really surprised that they acted like this...

No? And I'm surprised. If FT (any other agency) feels that is doing something wrong, why not stop it (and say sorry, our mistake)? It just doesn't make sens :) They are very hard to learn, no conclusions...

Is this deal good? Yes, if it works well, it will be very good.

Few my thoughts here and with full respect, but to be honest... We have subs. today which is not good thing for authors - it lets sell images for pitty prices, hundreds of images almost for free to wide RF usage (! clients can do almost everything with our work). So I wonder what better can be good deal today? Of course you can't tell that now, it's a secret and we'll get answer later, after few months. We'll see what is this new idea and what it gives us. I (we?) only hope it means better price (not lower!) for download (subs. are pathetic enough), or/ and more sales. Can you tell if my expectations go right way?
Btw. It's hard to forget FT or Veer (and many others) new great ideas which was hoping better sales and for better money... We're still waiting and as we can see it's not going to good.

How large it is and why we didn't support it ourselves? Look at the size of our database, envision a larger partnership. Try to put things into perspective.

First thing I think is giving some kind of packs of images for poor $ like FT did lately. This is the model that we know already and we're affraid of the most! You must understand.

Be respectful and you will be respected.

Exactly :)

Do they pay out money if less than 50 C ?

Many thanks Ron for that text! Lots of LOL here, despite it's really sad situation...

I remember my first time when I saw RF, I was sure it means FREE from royalties... Btw, there's the joke (or it's not a joke) - tell chinese man it's copyrighted and he'll do copies as he get's it as right to copy ;)
Royalty free? Of course it means free! ;)

Back to serious, if someone doesn't know the right it doesn't mean he's free from responsibility.

Main problem is of course that if we opt out because of this e-mail, all other partners also loose our images.

Don't you think it's a sign?! IF partner sites loose valuable images, that may mean they should offer us better comission and OPEN DOORS...
IMO.

We've been talking about that in DP case, and any other microstock with PP program... the monster needs images to live! Our images. The problem is that microsites forget that lately.

Btw. I opted out all I could (of PP sites), anywhere, long time ago. If some agency wants to earn money with me, why not work directly? One middleman taking 70% or more from my $ is enough. I don't need any special 10 agents in that chain.

497
... Well, I don't think it really even needs saying, but frankly I think this says that we're a bunch of suckers.
... let's be real about this; even 50% isn't great. It's better, but ...

... But how about we start here: Any would-be new agency comes knocking, the terms are 50% or don't bother even asking for my images. I don't care if you're name is Google. 50% or don't bother.

50% shouldn't be regarded as a great deal. 50% should be the minimum.

AMEN!!!

Her reason was "I did sign up with shutterstock and thought that I could use it, but I will try to correct this now"

Yeah, sure... It reminds me what I've found lately in some forums of graphic desingers (from memory):
"- should I buy EL for this image usage?
  - as you wish, but why pay if nobody can see? You'll pay if they (authors) find it in use... Pay $1 and sleep well. After all you can say: "ups,, sorry, I didn't know"
  - that's my thought, $1 is fair enough".

 :-\
