So, I have finally reached 100$ for payment. At least that's what it says on the front page (earning balance). But when I go to account statistics, total sum is 98.85$. Anyone knows, why this difference?

Selling a photo 10 times to make maximum $4.00 is totally wrong.
I'm not questioning your math; I'm questioning your assumption that a photo would only sell 10 times. But you knew that.
10 times, 100 times, 1000 times... either way you want to slice it selling your work for a max of 0.40c royalty is wrong. and what is even more wrong is you have to sell it for 0.25c hundreds if not thousands of times to get to that 0.40c

To each his/her own, but I place value on my work.
Where do you get off saying you can only get max .40c per download at FT.
My average DL is netting me 0.76 at FT this month.
You don't just sell subs there.

Shutterstock.com / Re: New Contributor TOS at Shutterstock
« on: July 01, 2015, 01:00 »
TOS...RE=contributors payout. Quote from SS Forum.

1/. They foresee declining earnings for contributers and to keep contributers who may not reach the $75 threahold each month from getting discouraged and stop uploading they lower it

2/. It will be more of an incentive for new contributers to join thus growing their contributer base and growing there collection with fresh images ( think of third world content i.e. India) and this applies to point 1 as well

3/ this can also be prep work for possible commision declines in the future ?

In a way it is positive but it makes you wonder what may be coming down the pipe

This is all just speculation by someone who knows nothing more than any other contributor. Poor of you to post that here without a disclaimer.

The link to the summary of changes is still broken. It's in a pop up that prevents you from getting into your account until you accept the terms.

edit:

How can the terms be "Effective as of Friday, May 29, 2015."

Adobe Stock / Re: Introducing Adobe Stock!

Good to remember too that selling stock is 100% of SS business

For Adobe selling stock is just the gravy on top

Actually their business is selling 'subscription packages' :o

I don't understand why the site needs some function for Model Releases. Legacy Symbio doesn't. If you have model released images add the Text "Model Released' to your copy.

Why not 35% commission on subscriptions instead of 35 cents? What is the reason contributors should not also get 35% on subscriptions?

35% commission on a subscription sale might be less than 35 cents.

... Focalpool pits photographers against each other and whoever wins gets a reward, for everyone else, well it sucks to be you. They don't care who gets paid because no matter what, they get their 20%.

Isn't it the standard way with any other agency? Does SS or Alamy care whose image will be sold? As far as I know, they don't. They get their % and that's happy end. Just like with Focal Pool. And here as well client won't buy 100 images, he comes to any agency for the one that he's looking for. Or not? Am I wrong?

I imagine that buyers with subscription plans are downloading more than one image for a project. They pick some they think will work - run them past the client and ultimately end up using just one. I can't imagine that all the downloaded images SS has every day,in the end all get used in projects.

Just a thought - since Leo and the rest of the Graphics guys have left Symbiostock, you should't reference it in any of your materials.

Does it really matter?  - it was a pointless discussion.

basically the global search is no different than a google image search or microstock agency search where images from many sites are mixed together in results displayed.  I think users are smart enough to realize this.

I think you give people too much credit.

Is this the search page?

I thought this was the SYS search page:

http://symbiostock.info/index.php

there are 2 global searches

that one is ajotte's

mine is at http://cascoly.com/symbiostock-network.asp

Sorry Maurizio, but I don't think your portfolio will get accepted at Canva.  Canva is a design web site, and needs primarily backgrounds, textures and isolated objects.
Well Canva they said they need all stock shots. Its not limited to backgrounds, textures and isolated objects. Their isolated objects queue is 10 miles long because they cut out all objects to PNG. They are mostly approving non isolated images.

His portfolio is too Editorial and the rest is LCV.
