Video here:

Deleted files and closed account at iStock years ago due to horrific royalty share. Recently deleted all content at Videoblocks due to their low pricing and low sales. Clipcanvas and Clipdealer old, hopeless agencies which sell nothing.
Where do you sell the most, in video?

Is it worth it? What's the "style" they are looking for?

Stopped uploading to Yay, Cutcaster, Panthermedia, GL stock, Crestock, and FAA due to low sales, 123RF and iStock due to commission cuts.

Stopped submitting to FeaturePics and Canstock due to low sales plus bad reviewing - low earners that become overly picky are not worth the effort.

Used to contribute to Stockxpert and Veer until they went under.  Also used to submit to Snapvillage until they became - Veer?  I can't remember what happened to them.  Was left out of Photodune/Envato at their last incarnation - and good riddance, really.

Stopped submitting to all stock agencies for many months at a time due to low return on effort and too busy with everything else.  Maybe if I have time over the holidays or get furloughed next week ...
I'm glad I never started to upload to any of those. Except 123rf which I finally dropped.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Payoneer
« on: December 15, 2018, 13:23 »
Yes, it is a very simple process. When you select payoneer, it will ask you to sign in payoneer in a small window. When it is done, payoneer is selected as your payment option.

Yep. And for those who don't have a Payoneer account yet, please use my referral link to register. Both of us will get $25 when you receives a total of $1000. This is my referral link. https://share.payoneer.com/nav/pFjvz5ll-Gw-YhpuvcZACI-IFBARRiiSaXdHWapjCX0iynwfAyx4TzOhXbdPjJG9TZFt1hD8myM-J5RfAs5wrg2

Now I use Payoneer over PayPal to receive payment as the foreign exchange rate is about 1% higher than PayPal. 1% is a lot of money in the long run :)
I'm going to register with your link.

I saw everyone dropped Bigstock... But it's one of my favorites :o

I dropped BS because of their bug in uploading. If you select more than one image to set the categories on, then ALL metadata gets changed to the first image.  The title, description, keywords ALL CHANGE when you only wanted to set the category.

I told them of the bug close to a year ago. Their response was "yes, we know about the bug and are working to fix it. In the meantime, just edit one at a time."  That was a year ago, and the bug still exists...

BS sales are so pitifully small that I am not willing to put in that effort only for them.

Also when some file mysteryously uploads with some issue, it's a nightmare to delete it.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Kind of license
« on: December 14, 2018, 12:00 »
I found something similar with one of my images a few years ago. I sent the company a very polite email saying "thank you for licensing my work for use, please give me the details of the license purchased for my records".
I got an extended license sale from IS a couple of days later and a letter in the post saying they licensed it from there.

Not saying this was the best way to handle it, but it's what I did. It was a bit easier for me because it was a printed product, clearly selling in excess of what a standard license would allow.
It's kind of the same with videos. For example, one time private use vs an ad that many people can see.

Maybe check if your work hasn't been copied or stolen by another contributor on different websites, he could have sold it to this company as his own work.
no, nothing like this. I checked
I imagine that if your picture is going to be in thousands of phones it's kind of reselling. You should contact shutterstock and the company?

Hello!
I found, that my photo was used by one of major smartphone producer (think they sold about 300mio) as standart wallpaper (they deliver new phones with photo inside).
This phone never was sold with extended or premier license at shutterstock.
What do you think? Is there reason to try get smth from this producer?
Yes!

Long time ago for poor results:
Lucky Oliver, Yaymicro, Featurepics, Crestock, canstock, Pantermedia, Scanstockphoto,, Mostphotos, Bigstockphoto
2 years ago Dreamstime after revealing real contributor name scandal.
Recently 123rf for commission cut & slow sales.

Real contributor name scandal? I dropped Deposit because of the many times they try to cheat us in different ways.
What happened with Dreamstime?

486
stockxpert, Istock, Veer, 3dstudio, photodune, bigstock, 123RF

Mostly because they lowered my take beyond my threshold or threw me out or were closed.
@Brasilnut: what happened with Canva? Not enough sales? I think they take too much to review.

Their best sellers tend to be backgrounds, wallpapers type shots, which aren't my strength. I do have some (below) on there but just those small 35c sales most of the time.

I'll hold onto to them and try to capture more backgrounds and just give them what their buyers want.
I see. They are kind of special because they don't accept much. I had a lot of flower photos that they accepted but now I take more editorial and science photos and they reject them all lol. Maybe some backgrounds would pass. Have you ever had a biggest sell? (not the 35 cents).

Good news! I think.

Adobe Stock / Re: Two word keywords - are they allowed?
« on: December 14, 2018, 06:31 »
It seems to me that with Golden Gate bridge someone looking for a generic bridge might be happy enough if the Golden Gate was offered, but with a red admiral the person looking for the butterfly would always search on the two words, not on admiral alone (but  might not use the term "butterfly", so that ought to be separate.
On the other hand, someone searching using the scientific latin might want examples of any or all the butterflies in the genus Vanessa or might want to be speific about the red admiral or painted lady and then would search on Vanessa atalanta or Vanessa cardui. So the logical terms for these two insects seem to be:
Red admiral,
red admiral butterfly,
Vanessa atalanta,
Vanessa,
butterfly,

Painted lady
Painted lady butterfly
Cosmopolitan - but I'm not sure anyone looking for a cosmopolitan butterfly would use the first word without the second, so maybe no need for this
Cosmopolitan butterfly,
Vanessa cardui
Vanessa
(no need for separate cardui or atalanta because someone looking for the species would always use the genus as well, as, for example, in Homo sapiens, not just sapiens).

Anyway, that seems to be the logical upshot of Mat's initial response. And if I've bungled the keywording of my red admiral, at least I should be able to get Isabella's tiger right now (the tiger with six legs instead of four).
Indeed. Great answer.

Stopped uploading: GL, Bigstock, YAY, Panther, Crestock, Stockfresh, Feature Pics,... and few years back some agencies that never produced a penny: Clipdealer, Cutcaster and some that don't exist anymore.

Canva accepts some 1-2% of my uploads, so thats close to not uploading at all.

I was kicked out Photodune back in time.
Your list is very similar to mine apart from Stockfresh...but I stopped sign elements too. I still upload to Bigstock from some sense of misplaced optimism.

Adobe Stock / Re: Payout minimum reduced to $25
« on: December 13, 2018, 22:33 »
Good decision.

Some agencies who earn much, much less than AS/FL should follow this example.

It would be good if DT followed this model. Over there, some people have to wait for an eternity to receive a payout.
Indeed. Also istock. Maybe to 50... Considering the 0.01 sales

I might be missing something but why would I buy this guy's footage instead of getting it for free from where he took them?

A buyer may not necessarily know they're available for free elsewhere.
But is that illegal?

What happen if I uploaded a picture to Wikipedia (so it's now public domain or something like that) but it's also available to license in SS? Is that illegal?

stockxpert, Istock, Veer, 3dstudio, photodune, bigstock, 123RF

Mostly because they lowered my take beyond my threshold or threw me out or were closed.
What happened with 123RF? I actually stopped to upload new assets there.

@Jo: 123rf is an example of cut royalty rates <- I agree. The RPD is veeery low there.
I did sign up with PhotoCase, but couldn't figure out what they wanted <-- Apparently no one knows.

@Brasilnut: what happened with Canva? Not enough sales? I think they take too much to review.

Jo Ann, great answer. But I wonder now, in what agencies do you contribute? I only can imagine SS, AS and Alamy?

In my side, I started to upload in 123RF but now it's just a waste of time. Including you HAVE to e-mail them to review your assets which I find odd.

Hello. I was wondering about what agencies have you contributed your assets and after some time you stopped to do so or actually deleted the account? Why such decision?

Newbie Discussion / Re: Can I make money with stock in 2018
« on: December 12, 2018, 09:54 »
I love photography and I love stock. I hear and read so many forums and comments about microstock.. even stuff like "scam" and what not. I guess the question everyone wonders is if you can make money from stock even now in 2018.. So I decided to sincerely help new photographers as I always help anyone who emails me and asks questions. I did create a video on this and I am being as honest as possible and hopefully help... again, I am not promoting myself or anything like that but after 11 years I feel like I need to step out and just overturn all the bad stuff I hear...  if you guys can let me know what you think it would be greatly appreciated... again, I am sincerely trying to help out... VIDEO is here https://youtu.be/10JSRmxG0aA
Thank you Zdenka

Well, I've only been a half year (6 months) I have a portfolio of approximately 650 photographs per agency (SS, IS, AS,) and I have already paid my first 50 dollars of Shutter and it seems that this month I will do my second payment of a little more, if You can win but it's a lot of work at first, Luck !!
Wow, your port must be good to have payments already with not sooo much pictures.

Nice list, it would also be good to see the traffic for each website, to get a small idea of how well they perform.
Don't care about traffic, sales are what matter. See list to the right of this site for some idea of many.

Just trying to find other methods to see each website's worth, the list on the right would only give me a better idea if there was a list for each category: editorial, photos, videos, vectors, illustrations, audio and so on.

As they are now, some of the top tier are actually my low earners which I might stop uploading to, some middle tier are my top tier while some others are low earners, and some low earners my middle tier. Go figure :) So maybe there's more of these low earners that are actually excellent depending of the niche and type of media.
That's a very good point though. An it would be great to put in one place the actual recommendations and tips from contributors. Look at how many threads are asking about different agencies...

VideoBlocks / Re: Weird rejection reason
« on: December 12, 2018, 08:39 »
Shutterstock rejected half o batch for shutter speed or some bs like that and the other half were accepted. They were videos recorded very similar, the same day. They do some stupid stuff sometimes and now I have to resubmit the rejected ones.

Nice list, it would also be good to see the traffic for each website, to get a small idea of how well they perform.

That's a good point.

I put together a list some months ago which is grossly outdated now and thought about using a rating system out of 5 stars for average return on earnings. Some will have to be estimated since I've never worked with many of them.

Would that be interesting or need something more detailed?
It would be great to mix all of that in one list. People here contribute to different sites and have different perspective on every agency.

Thanks David. I hope everyone else raises up their web prices as well.
What are your usual prices for each size?
