We have some server problems caused by the rush today. Hope the upload-process is working fine for you. if not please write a message to: [email protected]. in some days we get more new servers online...

52
Wow ! You are committed !

53
@ Sharpshot: It seams like you forgot to make a sign at "i`m a photographer" in the registration, but i set the option for you, now it should works. Don`t know what happens with my mail. Do you had more questions ? So please write again. I`ll  answer tomorrow...

Im back tomorrow. In german it is after midnight now. Must sleep to have power for checking thousand of Photos, Posts and Mails tomorrow ;-)

54
Now we just offer PayPal but there is a chance, not tomorrow but maybe in some weeks. You are not the first who asked for that...

55
ok midnight today german/england (middle-europe) time. I forgot to say. Midnight is not midnight anywhere ;-)

If you are not sure please take a time tomorrow morning. Tonight the photo editors didn`t work. Anyway you get the first Euros tomorrow when we start working again...

56
Why that ?
Everyone can upload photos at every time. And everyone get up to 500-1000 Photos Submitting Rate per day if the quality is good enough. No one get more than 1000 photos a day so there is a fair chance for everyone.

But we are special interested at microstock-pros. The often have more than 1000-5000 Photos in their portfolio. And for them our offer is more attractive i think. If you have 1000 photos you can earn 150 Euro, if you have 5000 photos you can earn 750 Euro. More photos more money. That`s why i`m think that photographers with large portfolios are more interested to our offer. These means not, that photographers with a small portfolio cannot upload photos and earn the welcome gift.

57
Its not sure that there is a mistake. We will check these part of the terms of trades, but it`s written by an english chancery. Normally they do a good job. We will see...

58
It`s the same like in every other agency. You don`t gives your copyright away, you just gives us photos for selling for a time. If you would give away your copyrights, you never could delete the account or photos. But you can. You can delete your account every day and if you do that all photos will be deleted from database in 6 months if they are free for partners. We are not interested to hose photographers, zoonar is a fair agency. The six months are because we spend lot of money to translate the keywords. we don`t even use automatically translations, there will be a manual quality control of keywords too.

But we will check this part of our terms of trade and modify if it is a wrong translation !

Important: We are specially interested in photographers with big portfolios. If you have +5000 photos please write to [email protected]. We will make an offer how you can submit these photos very fast and earn up to 750,00 Euro for full uploading ! We offer the same for photographers with +1000 photos...

59
The rates of polylooks are exactly the same like polylooks offer if you put photos there. The only different is, that you get the money in your zoonar account at the end of every month. two agencys - one account. That is also better for payoffs. Zoonar offer payoffs from 35,00 Euro.

Rates:

Zoonar 50-80%
Polylooks 35%

To understand the different you must know, that zoonar is a midstock agency and we are no big company. Our prices are higher and photographers have less sellings than in microstocks. So we offer more revenues as a incentive for photographers. However Polylooks is a typical microstock agency from the German Telekom AG. They offer just 35% percent but they put very much money in the marketing so they need higher rates to be in the black at the end.

60
You don`t need german keywords. 10 Keywords are enough...

61
3 Euro with "Thousands" of Photos? For that your Photos must be very bad !

General Midstock / Re: First sale on Zoonar
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:46 »
Zoonar is 15 months old. There was no agency with great sellings at this point (except istock in the beginning of a photo market revolution). Which price kategorie do you have at zoonar (micro-, mid- oder macrostock)?

63
Late Posting, but i want to tell that i have now very good sellings at alamy. I seems that it needs many time for the photos to "fight" for a good search placing in that agency. I think for the best photos you should use mid- and macrostocks and the rest is for microstock. This is my new strategy. I made over 4000 $ last month at alamy with just 25 sellings, this is a new record month for me.

I have more sells at zoonar and imagebroker too. I see much potential there...

I think you could make much more. The 1000.- $ i got only at Alamy... this is my best but not my only macro-agency...

With 1000 good Photos i make more than 1000.-  $ every month at macrostocks like Alamy. And i get 65% there... Here is something wrong....

My mistake it must be the size of my pics I was uploading 5 MP and it is 6MP minimum that's why it probably did not work
L

I've run into the 6MP barrier as well a couple of times. No cropping allowed. I need a new camera   ::)

Ok, but you can do such things with a batch automatically....

Why not cropping? Nobody will see it if you do it right. I do interpolation with Photoshop +30-40% and there are never artefacts or other visible photo-errors...

I agree, but I have too many versions of each photo already. It's easier to upload what is already large enough.

Why not using a batch? Thats very easy

thanks Michael how many pics do I have to send to get approved you know?
L

No i don`t know, but i think there are no approvement. You just can submit photos and they check the quality of the single pictures. But this answer is not fur sure. I opened my account in the middle of 2007. At that time there was no approvement. They write me an e-mail and asked me if i will submit photos. I read the Faq and transfer the first photos after reading their concept.

HUMM I tried to sent to pics via the java upload manager but it does not work :( anyone lucky with that ?
L

You must wait until the photo editors have accept your photos. Then you can see them in your user-profile (photo manager or likewise). If they don`t accept photos you get a mail at the next day...

Zoonar don`t offers ftp, that`s a bad point, but they said in a german forum they will think about it...

My insider`s Tip is Zoonar. The first Stock with all three price sektors (microstock, midstock, macrostock) and a really new concept. They offer new price-combinations for art-Buyers who want do a mix of macro- and microstock photos and compare booths sektors in quality to make a choice. I also like the maximum percantage of 80% for my pics  ;D

But.. they just started in the beginning of 2007 and get photos mostly from german-photographers. the english site is up since two months and there are not many traffic yet. I have some nice sellings there, but nothing in microstock, it was midstock for 10-40 Euros. Only sellings in german countries and not many.

But it is a really new concept (and we have not many ideas, the most new agencys only try to get a piece from the microstock cake) and they have a amazing growth of photos this makes me staying there...

Do they sell anything?

Yes, but not many. I think for microstockphotographers it could be a "hard thing" there. You have to wait a long time in good midstock-agencys but in the end you get the same money with one sellings a month  that you get in microstock with hundrets sellings. For me it is a normal thing, cause i have photos at alamy for three years now.

But zoonar is very young, so you have to wait much longer and don`t get the same money like in vip-agencys. I submit photos there, cause i want to push the best new agencys. I think everyone of us has some good earners and some low earners in the portfolio. The good earnes are for the money, the low earners are a strategic decision. You choose the stocks you like most. I take zoonar cause they have very good conditions for photographers like:

- fee maximum of 80%
- free licence decision (RF or RM)
- free price settings
- direct negotiations between costumer-photographer

I like this and i think other agencys have to follow when zoonar comes up as fast as in the last year...

And sorry for the bad english...

Attention with RF and RM licences! for example: You sell an RM photo excklusively for a package. Another costumer use the same photo for another package. The RF-buyer can`t do anything. He has to knew the risk of dubble-printings. but the RM-buyer can do a lot: He can destroy all packages and press the production money from the photographer. Then you don`t looses just the fee. You`ll loos a very big summary of money!

The most RM licences can be exclusicve.  But Alamy will asked you bevor they sell it exclusiv for one photo area. Last year i had a selling of a photo from tunesia for a tourist flyer. The Alamy-office asked me do ban the photo for one year for all other usings as tourist-advertising. I got good money for the photo so i decide to do it. but you never can ban a photo which is anywhere offers in rf-licence.

Make a clear decision and break between booth licences. Sell some Photos in RF, some other in RM, but NEVER offer the photos in booth licences.

This is my opinion, and sorry for my bad english

zero sale, nothing. Ok, so I've got only like 60 images online, but am I doing something wrong?

 ???

This is normal in mid- and macrostock. microstockphotographers often have many problems when they put photos to theese agencys, cause they used to have many clicks and sellings every day. In mid- and macrostock sometimes you don`t sell something for months, but you can earn much more. my best selling at alamy has 1200.- $ and i got 65% percent from that. How much photos you must sell in microstock for that fee?

But... 60 Photos are a very small stock. The chance to get a better search-placement is relatively small, cause alamy has a click-rated search engine.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this click-rated search engine?

Uff, my english is not the best and it is a complicated mathematic formula. But... take a look here and you see it directly:

http://www.alamy.com/contributors/alamysearch/default.asp

The most important thing are the klick-rate (only by known customers!). Klicks from your friends and you don`t matters. So you need time to reach a better position in the search engine, when your photos are relative new at alamy...

The problem here is not the low price, but the too low price

I think that the casual blogger, the casual user, were among the first to use micros for getting their images, but now you see images from all micros showing on websites from corporations and on print ads all over the place.  And we still get pennies for it.

Licences are too wide on what the buyer gets and we get the burden of all the legal implications, model releases and everything else associated with the supply of photos.  Aesthetic requirements are up, reviewers are more and more strict and the return just does not make it worth to keep uploading photos to most of the sites.

Any serious designer, who really needs an image for a paid work, could easily pay 20 dollars for an image without problems.  So I think that the midstock model is the one to embrace and support.  I, for the time being, will keep uploading to Alamy, PSC and other agencies that pay more for my work.

Right! For me as an freelancer the microstocks are a gold mine. I can take photos for 1.- $, put then in my work and get 50-200.- $ for every single photo in the end. The microstockphotographers spend a lot of money to designers, journalists and other freelancers. In the other hand, the prices of macrostocks are to high for freelancer-work. So i look at the actually photo-market-advancement with to different eyes and hope that in the end the prices find a "middle-way"...
